Livia’s POV
“No! No! Take anything you want but please spare me!” “Please! No! He's my only child, please spare us, Please…!” “Y…you all are blood suckers! You don't deserve to roam the surface of the earth!” “Demons, that's what you all are!” The flickering fire, burning of houses and screams all sounded in the distance as my dad tried to get us to escape through the secret passageway. The sounds of killing and screams of pains and anguish almost made my brain explode. I held my mom tight as I didn't want to be separated from my family. Our steps were quick and silent as we spoke in hushed tones to avoid being discovered by the enemies. The floor creaked with every step we took, dad instructed us to get rid of our shoes to lessen the noise. My heart raced fast as I held on more tightly to mom. I tried to block out the sounds as I recognized the familiar voices pleading for their lives to be spared. I didn't want to hear them but the attempts I made to block them out had little effect. “Hey! You, stop those people from escaping” Their voices sounded from behind us. I could sense the fear coming from my dad as he realized we've been discovered. Run! Run! My dad's voice echoed in my ears, just then I heard my mom let out a sharp cry, a nail had penetrated through her foot but she couldn't care the least as we kept on running for our lives, my dad picking me up and increasing our pace. Don't even stress yourselves by running! Your pack has been completely blocked by our pack! Not even one of you can escape! They let out an ugly laugh. Mom's pace was gradually decreasing, blood kept gushing out of her foot, her eyes getting weaker and weaker, the feel of her hands on mine was getting weaker, finally she collapsed to the ground. The enemies were catching up and there wasn't much we could do. Go! Run Livia! I'll hold them off! My dad's voice rang in my ears, I couldn't get myself to obey this instruction as I prefer to die with them than live without them. Go Livia! Run! Live for us! Mom said with a weak voice from the ground. Go! The walls of tears I've been building suddenly burst open, seeing there wasn't much left for me to do, I ran as fast as my little feets could carry me. Damn Nightshade pack! I'll tear you all to shreds! I looked back only for me to see the Nightshade pack had already caught up with my parents and my dad holding them off, blocking them from emerging further. I looked at my mom and at that moment I felt as if I could read her eyes. Go on Livia! Live for us! I could hear my mom scream, her voice held grief and pain, could it be they already killed my dad? Suddenly another scream broke out, this time, the tone’s different from the last, a scream of one losing its own life, and it was from my mom! My heart shredded into pieces at this moment as I picked up my pace. I can't give these demons the satisfaction of catching up with me after they killed my parents. With trembling feets, I ran down the mountains and succeeded in escaping the Nightshade pack. But the danger is yet to be over as I've never been out of the interior of my pack, I still kept on running as I had no idea where I was headed, I let the winds guide my path. I looked up at the moon which had turned red in the sky, I looked back at my once beautiful and peaceful community being burnt to the ground. “ Nightshade pack I swear you'll pay for what you've caused me today!” I said with a heart full of pain, angony and sorrow. I kept on running into the dawn of the day, my feets bruised and sore from running all night, my head banging and vision becoming blurry. I couldn't hold myself up anymore as I observed my environment, everything looked particularly unfamiliar, from the smell, to the flowers to the hills and trees. The atmosphere was still, as if the wind had ceased from blowing, and everything remained calm. But, suddenly the trees began to shake, and I could hear the rattling sound of fallen branches cracking on the ground. Someone or something is watching me! I tried to run but my feets betrayed me, suddenly a giant wolf leapt out of the hiding and immediately launched towards me. No! No! I can't die like this, not now, not after my parents' sacrifice. Nooo! My eyes snapped open. Dream! “Not this dream again”, I muttered to myself as I slowly regained consciousness. I slowly sat up from the bed and moved my stiff limbs, making little cracking sounds as if my bones were breaking. The fear from the nightmare still lingered in my mind as I could feel my heart beating fast and hard. Seven years. It's been seven years since that day and my past still haunts me. The morning breeze slipping through the cracks in this cramped little cupboard, my thin top is no protection against this cold. I hugged myself and clutched the worn sheets in my hand, going back and forth, nodding my head trying to fight back the tears that threatened to pour out. I promise myself never to be weak again. Damn Nightshade pack! I'll surely have my revenge! I pulled my sheets to cover the top of my body to give a little warmth against the harsh cold. There's no way this sheet could hold out. The noise coming from the warriors out on the training ground sounded distant in my ears, I quickly got out of bed to go join in the training, my only aim is to become stronger to avenge my parents! After that day, I was rescued by a group of Rogues who fought and defeated the man eating wolf, they took me in after hearing my story to become one of their own. I never truly fit in here, I was unique in all ways, one of which is that most wolves starts with the yellow-like eyes, these eyes enable them to see clearly in the dark, we were shifters eyes will change from yellowish to blue after our first kill. A were creature with red eyes indicates power and authority. My eyes are emerald with flakes of silver when examined closely, my hair is silvery white like that of the clear moon, it's length reaching my waist. I also have the power to command nature, the trees, flowers, grasses, they all bloom and blossom whenever I touch them. I wasn't always like this. I could vividly recall that night in my pack, I was seated on my dad's lap, my mom sat opposite us, the candle burning bright in the middle of the room, the peaceful atmosphere and the voices of children playing outside filled my ears. We just finished eating dinner when my dad picked me up. “Hey cupcake, are you full?” My dad asked, using his hands to tuck in the strand of hair that escaped the rest behind my ears. “Yes dad” I said with a smiley face trying to smoothen out my hair myself, I hate for my hair to get dirty and scattered. “Mum, why is my hair so white?” I asked mom who just returned from the kitchen, she cast a glance at my dad and I saw him nod as if giving his approval of something. Well I had to know why I had such high maintenance hair, turns out my hair’s not the only thing about me that’s high maintenance.Livia's POV “Well, if you're that curious to know, I guess it's time we let you know how you became our miracle baby” dad teased, tickling me as I let out a little chuckle.“The morning I gave birth to you”… mom began, “you were so beautiful, having glistering brown eyes that seemed to hold the strongest emotions anytime I looked into them, your dark hair was as shiny as olive and I couldn't get my eyes off you.” “I laid you down for a nap so I could also have a little rest of my own. But when I realized you've slept for too long, I decided to wake you up as I carried you up wanting to see those beautiful eyes of yours again”. Mom smiled and curtsied for me to come to her.“So I had dark hair, I muttered to myself while Dad placed me on the floor to go meet mom”. “My eyes aren't brown!” I said, casting a questioning gaze to my mom.“Calm yourself down, we will soon get to the part where everything changed” mom curtsied with her hands for me to come closer as she picked me up, conti
Livia’s POV“I'm not in the mood for your games Ava, as you can see, I am yet to touch my lunch”“Yeah, about that” she turned and passed a signal to Mia who was already standing behind me as she grabbed my hair causing me intense pains. At this moment I let go of my food, the sound of the plate and the contents pouring away all added to my anger as I held her hands bruising it with my fingers trying to make her let go off my hair.“I hate for my hair to be touched, can't you all get this little information into your shrinking skulls?”“Huhhh…Mia she said we have shrinking skulls, why don't we pull her hair out to see the size of hers!” Ava said with a mocking tone.My strength was no match for theirs but I won't let them go scot free for this, I used my elbow to hit the sides of Mia as she let out a painful gasp, on seeing this Ava rushed to my side and gave me a powerful kick on the stomach that sent me crashing to the ground.“Let's go Mia before daddy shows up, I don't know why he
Livia's POV:Oh no! I almost escaped their sight, if my hair had been left black by the moon goddess, I'm sure I wouldn't have been noticed by the enemies. “Is my hair a blessing or a curse?” I cried out in my heart.“You there behind the bushes, come out now!” “Maybe If I stay still they'll give up and go on their way, besides it's almost dawn,” I thought to myself.“I said come out this instant!” the voice sounded again, this time coming closer. He came to the side of the bushes and looked down directly at me, I felt a grip on my shoulders as he yanked my hands to pull me out!Looking at this man in front of me, there were scars on his face, one which started from his temple down to his eyebrows cutting across his left eyes. I could sense his powers but his is from a lower rank than that of the Beta's. He looked down angrily at me like he could fling me across the forest with any slight provocation, I closed my eyes anticipating what is to come.“You stubborn little brat! How dare
Livia's POV:“Long live Alpha Xandro!” the warriors voice sounded bringing me back from my thoughts.“Alpha? Are they blind to have crowned this man as Alpha?” I could sense his powers and his ranking isn't up to some of the warriors present here, he has such a weak demeanor, something must be wrong.“Who's the white haired lady?” Asked Luna Lysandra.“We brought her back as a captive from the Rogues pack we conquered,” answered Beta Cedric signaling to the warrior holding me to put me down.“I don't think we have a use for such thing around here,” she said, referring to me.I was placed down by the warrior but I couldn't stand as my legs felt wobbly from being carried all night. I fell to the floor and immediately bowed my head avoiding any form of eye contact.“She's pretty, I like her, she might be useful,” Alpha Xandro said in a tone as if asking for her permission. “We might use an extra helping hand around here.”“Damn this pervert!” I cursed silently. If Luna Lysandra had disco
Livia's POV: It was night already as the moon shone brightly outside. “Moon goddess give me your blessings,” I prayed in my heart before tiptoeing out of my room, looking both left and right to ensure I wasn't being watched by anyone, I then made my way straight to the door. Tying my long white hair in a bun just above my shoulders to avoid being discovered by the guards, I hid behind a huge vase at the entrance, thanks to my petite figure I was able to fit perfectly behind the vase. Three guards stood at the entrance clutching firmly to their swords, they wore the same designs of uniforms but one could easily tell them apart. They were backing against the door making it easy for me to creep out while jumping from vase to vase, stopping after every few moves to check if I was being monitored. I was almost at the rear end of the building where no guards were positioned when suddenly my body accidentally hit the large vase I was hiding behind causing it to make a loud sound that at
Lucius' POV: “Don't tell me you're trying to escape!” I asked trying to get her to respond back, but she immediately turned around on hearing my words still trying to run away from me. I blocked her again in the opposite direction. “Who are you huh?” She looked at me with eyes that never seemed to accept defeat. “You can never escape from the Crescent Pack,” I said avoiding her question. “Your speed is nothing compared to an average warrior, you had better turn back.” I advised in a soft and gentle manner. “Who are you to give me orders?”she barked back at me. She's a stubborn one. I said to myself. “I can take you back myself if I want to, but I don't see any gain in doing such. It's better you go back yourself, you have no chance of escaping don't make things worse than it already is.” “I see you are lucky to have been taken in as a maid and not a slave, I would advise you go back if you don't want your status to drop.” I didn't know why I took my time to explain to her
Livia's POV: “I knew you would come back.” This warm voice sounded so familiar, I couldn't mistake it for anyone other than madam kalliope. “I…I…I, I was, I was just...” Beads of sweat gathered on my forehead as I started trying to give an explanation as to why I was out hiding by this time I open my mouth to talk what no words could come out. “Save your words child, tell me everything once we are inside. But for now let's try to keep out of sight, come with me I know a secret passageway.” I was thankful to the moon goddess for bringing madam kalliope to save me. She always looks at me with warmth in her eyes as a mother would to her child, reminding me of my mom. “Maybe this place isn't so bad afterall.” Madame Kalliope took me through the back of the building and she opened a secret door leading down to the basement. I saw her bring out a bunch of keys tied to the hem of her blouse as she fiddled with the lock in an attempt to unlock the door. We went down quickly, walking
Livia's POV: “Now, tell me about your little adventure yesterday.” Madam kalliope said while staring directly at me. I bowed my head in shame as I didn't want her to see the emotions in my eyes, I was so naive to have swung into action without proper planning. “I tried to escape last night, but Midway I realized I had no way to run to and it wouldn't take much effort before the warriors would catch up with me, I'm sorry madam kalliope.” I said looking up into her eyes to see if I could catch the glimpse of any emotion. I failed at that as I sensed she was a pro in masking emotions. “No need to be sorry child, I totally understand… I heard the large vase underneath my room's window make some weird noises so I peered down to see what was meddling with it only to find you at the scene. So that was how she found out. I whispered silently to myself. “I knew what you were up to immediately, but decided not to raise any alarm as I was certain that you would come back, so I set out
Livia's POV: Pregnancy was not easy. That I realized as my stomach grew and I became more and more worried. I worried about all the things that could go wrong during childbirth. I did not want to die, I wanted to be there for my child. Besides the worry and fear, there were my moodswings. I had to say that Lucius was very patient with me and I felt bad for him sometimes. I even felt bad for Ylva and Lydia who had to endure my outbursts. Adrian followed me everywhere as Lucius made him my personal guard and once in a while I would yell at him as well. Sometimes because I just wanted to and sometimes for no reason at all. Well, that's what happens when you don't get enough sleep because your stomach is in the way, when you constantly feel hungry and when everything feels uncomfortable. “Lydia, Ylva I do want you to work for me anymore. Bring someone that I won't feel bad yelling at. Like that maid Jessica or anyone I don't like.” I said feeling really bad for my moodswings. “No My
Lucius' POV: “Good morning.” She smiled while tucked under the sheets. “Good morning,” I said, turning so that I lay facing her. “Aren't you late? It's almost lunchtime.” She said. I groaned, not wanting to think of anything else but laying in bed with my mate. “I don't want to leave.” I admitted, reaching for her under the sheets. She was still naked. Good Lord. I wanted to touch her all over again as I remembered her bare body. I always thought she looked beautiful but now she was exquisite. She was fuller, more radiant and alive. She was ravishing. “Not again, Lucius.” She beamed at me. I was touching her under the sheets, enjoying the feel of her. “Why not?” “Because I need to be able to walk.” “Oh, but I would rather have you in bed all day.” I joked. Although it was partly true. “You never get enough, do you?” she shook her head at me. If only she knew. I thought. Livia sat up on the bed and then swung her legs down. “Oh God! She groaned, startled. “What?” “Nothin
Livia's POV: Lucius stiffened and the room went quiet. I could hear my own heart race and it felt like forever before he said, “what did you say?” “I said you will become a father soon,” I told him a bit louder and with more confidence. Slowly, Lucius took a few steps back and then turned away. Oh, God! He was not happy. Hopping down from the table I went to him. I put my hand lightly on his shoulder. “I understand if you are not happy.” Never having a relationship with his parents and what he went through growing up, could explain his reaction. “Happy?” He turned to me carefully and grabbed my arms. “I am not happy Livia. I am lucky. You make me the luckiest man on earth even if I don't deserve it.” I could see a mix of emotions in his eyes. Happiness, sadness and worry. “You deserve every bit of it,” I assured. “And you would be an amazing father.” His hands slid up to my face, holding it gently. “Livia, you are a blessing in my cursed existence.” I didn't know whether to
Livia's POV: When I woke up I'm the morning Lucius was already gone. I scolded myself for not telling him I was pregnant. I knew I was worrying for nothing and that the news would probably make him very happy. After getting dressed I decided to look for him immediately. I went straight to Lucius' office, there I saw him engrossed in the papers in his hands. I cleared my throat to capture his attention. Lucius put the papers down on the table and stood up before looking at me. “Did you already miss me, wife?” He smiled. “Am I disturbing you?” I asked walking over to him. “No, bit you are distracting me much.” He said letting his gaze rake my body. I did nothing to prepare myself so that he found me distracting despite everything, made me confident. Lucius tilted his head to one side and studied me even more closely. “Did you gain some weight?” He asked and my confidence went out the window. “I am not sure,” I mumbled. “You look…” his eyes darkened. I knew that gaze and it brou
Livia's POV: I am pregnant, I am pregnant, I am pregnant. I kept chanting those words to myself everyday. I could still not believe it. How do I tell Lucius? It haven't even been up to two weeks since the incidence that claimed his life, would he be happy to have a child in this mess? He had never said anything about wanting to have a child ever which made me a bit concerned. Somehow I felt that he wouldn't be thrilled. I tried to imagine his reaction in my head several times but I couldn't figure out what his expression would be like. “Ylva… I am pregnant,” I told her as she prepared me for the night. Ylva stared at me through the mirror. Her eyes twinkled with both surprise and happiness. “My Lady…!” She exclaimed after she opened her mouth several times but was not able to say anything. “Can… I hug you… once?” I blinked a few times in surprise. I and Ylva had been very close, closer than with Lydia it she had never asked for a hug before. The only time she hugged me was when
Livia’s POV: I felt as though a storm had struck me. My whole emotions was in a mess. The heartbeat that I heard against my ears were crisp and loud. The urge to press my ears deeper to his chest grew in me, wanting to make sure I wasn't wrong and my ears hadn't lied to me. I didn't want this to be a dream or the sweet illusion that had been repeating in my subconsciousness. When his voice slipped to my ears in the most sweetest way, once again a wave of emotions washed my entire heart. My tears filled the rim of my eyes and tears slowly dribbled uncontrollably from my eyes. I slowly lifted my chin up, looking around to feel his hand around me before my emerald eyes finally met with Lucius' deep red ones. “I'm sorry, did I make you wait for long?” He asked as though he hadn't died, as though I hadn't killed him and as though it has only been an hour of our separation, when it had been more than 12 hours. 12 hours might be a mere few hours to others, but not to me who bore the guil
Livia's POV: My emerald eyes turned wider, glint of red appeared on my eyes that the serpent didn't miss. Reaching out my hand, I tried to manifest Elise when the serpent began to shake its body, causing large ripples and waves to tower over me. I looked at the upcoming waves as it was about to devour me hungrily. The waves spread wide like a mountain, wanting to eat me alive. My eyes flared brighter with hint of redness as I raised my hand out of impulse and was surprisingly able to create a barrier wide enough to cover the boat from being consumed by the waves. While I was surprised that I still haven't discovered all what I could do with my abilities, I wanted to breathe out in relief, I realized it wasn't the end as the serpent had quickly arrived behind me, rushing towards me. I clicked my tongue, pushing myself on the other end of the boat and ducked down as the serpent was about to take a taste bite on me. During the fight, the creature didn't help me. Instead he continued t
Livia's POV: A single boat coasted towards the shore, at the side where I stood. On the end of the boat was a creature who was cloaked in black. Its body was shorter than mine as his back was hunched forward. From underneath his cloak, his black bones hands held the wooden paddle on his hand. Though his eyes was covered, I could feel it moving towards me as if he knew I needed to cross this deadly river. “You… are coming to the boat?” The hoarse voice of the creature was shrilling and there was a delay in his first words as if his tongue was having a difficulty on speaking quickly. I nodded my head before putting my feet on the surface of the boat. As I went onboard, the creature looked at me. No words exchanged, but I could see his displeasure, “Soul… give me.” “I won't be fully crossing the sea to the abyss,” I answered, “And only crossing the sea to the abyss would I need to pay, don't I?” The creature huffed to show his annoyance but he didn't reply as I was correct. While cr
Livia's POV: In the forest of the Crescent Pack, the place where I had found my Mate and my peace, a place which I had considered a safe haven now haunted me with memories of I and Lucius. I felt empty as a part of me now became lost, Elise, my wolf had been quiet and hadn't let out a sound since the minute Lucius gave out his last breath. I had prevented Adrain from coming along in order for me to gain full concentration. I was certain that no matter how narrow my chances were of seeing Lucius again, it would be enough for me to bring him back to life. I went deep into the forest till I hit to the spot where the old oak tree was planted. I couldn't remember the last time since I came to this part of the forest. The oak tree which stood in front of me now which I had named ‘grandma’ was my solace and healing place when I had no one, but Lucius came along and he became more than just a safe haven for me, he became my paradise and I planned spending every moment of my life in his embr
