Catherine Davison or Katherine Flynn?

Catherine Davison was sitting near the lake when Katherine Flynn sat next to her. Catherine Davison titled her neck to see the new face.

"I am Katherine Flynn, and you are?"

"I am Catherine Davison"

"It's beautiful here, right?" Katherine Flynn asked her.

"Yes. So beautiful that I don't wish to leave the place. But I have to go" Catherine Davison grinned.

"Why?" Katherine Flynn asked her.

"What you mean by 'Why?'. Of course I have to go or else my family get worried" Catherine Davison pouted her lips cutely.

"Your family must be really like you right?" Katherine Flynn tone mixed with envy.

"No" she shook her head, "They love me. I am the Apple of eye to my family. They won't even let me get a boyfriend saying everyone is too good for me" Catherine Davison replied to her.

"But no more worries. My friend Emma and I planned to get a boyfriend when we join the college. This time I will get a boyfriend for myself" Catherine Davison showed her fist.

Katherine Flynn smiled at her silliness.

"I hope you get one" Katherine Flynn ruffled her hair.

"Come let's go. Our family might be looking for us" Catherine Davison got up and started to walk. But Katherine Flynn remained seated.

Catherine Davison looked puzzled as she went towards her and pulled Katherine Flynn's hands, "What are you waiting for? Come let's go"

Katherine Flynn stood from her place, "I am not going back. If I return, there will be no one waiting for me. But if you return your whole family will be happy. So I want you to return"

"Hey dude, what are you saying? It's getting dark. Come let's go" Catherine Davison held her hands hoping Katherine Flynn will go back with her.

But instead Katherine Flynn released her hands and cupped Catherine Davison's cheeks, "Catherine Davison live your life as you wish. Don't lose your smile for anyone or anything. Don't let your smile to hurt others. Live the fullest. Hope your smile never fade from your face"

Katherine Flynn smiled before she pushed Catherine Davison into the river. Catherine Davison was shocked and tried to grab Katherine Flynn's hand, but she failed. Before Catherine Davison fell into the river, she saw a single tear fell from Katherine Flynn's eyes.

"Call the doctor"

"The patient is regaining her conscious"

Catherine Davison heard some noises.

Patient?

Who is the patient here?

When Catherine tried to open her eyes she couldn't open it.

'Why I couldn’t open my eyes'

Suddenly Catherine felt, her left eye were opened manually and then her right eye.

'Who the hell is he? Why is he flashing the light into my eyes? He must be crazy'

"Doctor, how is my friend?"

"Your friend almost got healed. Once the patient woke up, you can take her home within a couple of days"

"Thank you Doctor. Thank you so much"

"It's my duty. If there's is any problem call me"

"Sure"

Catherine Davison don't know what's happening around her. She was puzzled why in the world she can't move her body or open her eyes?

Catherine Davison felt there is no energy left in her. So she stopped trying.

After some time Catherine Davison slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was the ceiling. And then she turned left to see a girl lying on the hospital bed. Then she turned right to see a guy dozing off sitting on the chair.

Her eyes wandered the room hoping to see her family members. But no one seems to be there. Catherine Davison tried to remember why she was in the hospital but she couldn't able to remember anything other than arguing with Alexander on her brother's wedding.

Catherine Davison tried to get up on her own, but she failed. Then the guy heard the sound and woke up from his sleep. He saw his friend was awake.

"Oh My God, finally you opened your eyes" he hugged her.

Catherine Davison startled by his sudden gestures, so she pushed him, "W-What are you doing?" her voice almost came as whisper.

"What you mean by that? Consider yourself lucky that I didn't kill you" He puffed his cheeks in anger.

Catherine Davison just startled at his statement, "You want to k-kill me? For w-what? M-Money?"

"What the hell are you spouting?" he came to her and made her to sit, but Catherine Davison moved away from him, scared.

"Hey what happened to you? It's me Devin Miles. Your childhood bestie" He waved his hand in front of her.

"What are you saying? Are you escaped from some asylum? I don't even know you" Catherine Davison pushed his hand away from her feeling annoyed.

Devin Miles blinked his eyes trying to understand his friend behavior. He scratched his head and suddenly shouted, "I know. I know what's happening"

Catherine Davison was curious about what he knew.

"I knew it. I have seen it in many dramas. You got that" He pointed his fingers at her.

"I got what?" Catherine Davison raised her eyebrows.

"You got amnesia"

Catherine Davison scoffed at his nonsense.

"Psycho" she shook her head.

Devin Miles gasped at his friend's comment. He got scared what if his friend really got an amnesia?

Devin Miles inhaled and screamed at the top of his lungs, "DOCTOR MY FRIEND GOT AN AMNESIA"

Catherine Davison covered her ears.

"Hey, keep your voice down. Can't you see the patient resting in the next bed" Catherine Davison pointed her left without turning.

Devin Miles blinked twice. Once again he deeply inhaled, "DOCTOR MY FRIEND GONE INSANE"

Catherine Davison really want to stitch his mouth with the needle, but before she could do that doctors and nurses rushed towards her.

‘Oh man, where the hell is my family?’

"What? What happened?" The doctor asked him.

"Doctor, I want my friend back. She really forgotten me. She got an amnesia. What should I do?" Devin Miles grabbed the collar of the doctor and cried.

'Such a drama queen like Emma’ Catherine Davison rolled her eyes.

"First leave me so that I can check on the patient" Doctor freed himself from Devin Miles and walked towards Catherine Davison.

"Can you able to understand what am I saying?" he asked her.

"Yes"

"Can you tell me where you are now?"

"On the hospital bed"

Nurses next to the doctor chuckled by her answer. The Doctor frowned because of Catherine Davison's answer, "These youngsters nowadays. Just leave it. Can you tell me your name?"

"Catherine Davison"

The room fell into silence.

"What are you saying? Your name is Katherine Flynn" Devin Miles shouted.

"What the nonsense are you saying?" Catherine Davison looked at her right. "But why is that girl looking at me" Catherine Davison pointed her fingers at the person.

"There is no patient here other than you. This is a VIP ward. And the person you are referring is you, Katherine Flynn. This is a mirror" The Doctor said as he stood beside the mirror which shows his reflection as well.

Catherine Davison eyes widened in shock. Trying to register what’s happening.

"Ah, now I remember. Isn't that girl who died one month ago, Catherine Davison. Her brother is also doctor. Timothy Davison, he was the one who signed your consent form for the surgery" one of the nurse said.

Catherine Davison couldn't able to grasp the situation. She is alive, but why are they saying that she's dead. That also it's been one month. And why her face is looking different?

"Doctor, what happened to her? I am sacred to see her like this" Devin Miles eyes filled with tears.

"Katherine Flynn was-" before the Doctor could say anything he was stopped by Catherine Davison "Can you tell me what really happened to Catherine Davison?"

The nurse looked at the Doctor when he nodded his head she continued, "Catherine Davison admitted here at the same time as you. The reason is because of an Accident. Chandelier in the wedding hall fell right on top of her. When she reached here she was already in a critical state, she lost most of the blood.

Her face was ruined because of the glass shreds, also I heard there was a glass piece stuck near her heart. The Doctors tried to remove the glass, but they are unable to save her. So she died during the surgery"

Catherine Davison was carefully listening to everything she said. "Then what about Katherine Flynn?"

"Your case is different, but almost the same. You tried to commit suicide. You slit your wrist. Your friend over here found you in the bathroom in the middle of the blood. When you arrived here, you were also in a critical state. You even had a Pneumothorax.

Your whole body was filled with bruises. On the surgery table, for five minutes your heart stopped beating. When we were getting ready to announce your death to your family suddenly you vitals came back. We were finally able to save you. But for some reasons you were in coma for past one month" The Doctor who done the surgery on Katherine Flynn answered her question calmly.

Couple of minutes passed but Catherine remained dazed. She just stared at her reflection on the mirror who stared back at her.

Devin Miles tried to come to her, but she stopped him, "Leave, I want to be alone"

"Katherine Flynn, we need to know your condition, so that we can treat you" The Doctor said to her.

"Please, Please. I beg you to leave me alone. I promise you I won’t do anything stupid" Catherine Davison never averted her eyes from the mirror.

The Doctor signaled the others to leave. Devin Miles gave one last look at his friend before closing the door.

Catherine Davison slowly got down from the bed. Maybe laying on the bed for so long made her body weak. Somehow she managed and stood in front of the mirror.

"Why am I in your body? Why the real me dead and why my soul is in your body?"

The reflection on the mirror showed the Katherine Flynn who was standing next to her was Catherine Davison.

Catherine Davison widened her eyes seeing herself and Katherine Flynn on the mirror.

"I know you were shocked. You have so many questions to ask but I don't have answers for your questions. I don't have the courage to live in this cruel world anymore. But you got the second chance to be alive. Here after you have to live as Katherine Flynn. Life your life in my place. Be happy" Katherine Flynn tried to touch Catherine Davison's hands but before she could reach her, Katherine Flynn disappeared into thin smoke.

Catherine Davison was standing into daze, before she could realize what's happening around her. She blinked twice and saw the reflection of herself but not as Catherine Davison but as Katherine Flynn.

Life is so cruel.

She is dead.

Catherine Davison started to cry aloud clutching her heart, because she couldn't able accept the fact that she can't live as Catherine Davison, but she.. she has to live her entire life as Katherine Flynn, as a stranger.
