"Can you help me kill the Alpha?"
Since joining the Silver Moon pack as a child, Kai had never heard words as shocking as the ones he had just heard.
He stood there, hands in his pockets, staring at his Luna as though she was stupid.
Kai shook his head. Did she really say what she just said now?
Here his Luna was, asking him to kill his Alpha, one of the highest sins a werewolf could ever commit.
What scared him was the fact that she was making this request with a straight face.
Rose was the Luna of the Silver Moon pack, and was mated to Alpha Ross.
Rose was beautiful and was every bit an exemplary Luna. But right now, he just couldn't understand why she was asking him to do such a thing.
Killing the Alpha wasn't something any Luna thought of doing, so what had suddenly gotten into her.
"What did you say?" He asked again, in disbelief, his eyes searching hers for some form of an explanation. His brain still having a hard time wrapping itself around her request
Rose looked at him like he was foolish.
"I need your help in killing the Alpha. " I know you're one of his closest betas and with you on our side, it’ll be quick and clean as though nothing had even happened.
Our
That word confirmed she was working with someone. He wasn't sure if this plot to commit treasonous murder was her own doing or the master plan of whoever was helping her. Regardless, he needed to talk her out of this idea.
"Do you know what you are asking of me? Do you realize how dangerous this is and what could happen to me…happen to us if we get caught?" Kai asked incredulously.
"Yes, I am well aware of the risks and that is why I came to you for help."
Her response came in that calm matter-of-fact tone. Reeling from confusion, Kai shook his head.
Was she crazy?
"I don't think you understand what you are asking me to do, because if you did, then you wouldn't have asked me to do this in the first place.
Rose glared in anger, but the expression left her face quickly and she smiled at him.
"Have you ever fallen in love Kai?"
No, he hadn't, and he had no intention of discussing his love life with his Luna. He wasn't even supposed to be near her. If Alpha Ross found out, there would be hell to pay.
The Alpha's jealousy knew no bounds."How does that have anything to do with this. You're asking me to commit treason!!."
"If you have ever fallen in love before, Kai, you will realise that it's a beautiful feeling and you are going to do anything and everything it takes to protect that feeling."
Kai kept quiet. What was Rose talking about?
The answer to his question was in his head, but he wanted to dismiss that thought.
He wanted to dismiss the thought entirely.
“Right now, all I'm asking is your help in protecting the feeling that I have.”
"I'm not quite understanding where you are going with this," Kai said.
The voice in his head kept on screaming that he knew what Rose was talking about, but he wanted to disbelieve it.
He wanted her to say it by herself.
"I…im in love with someone else…a pack Beta," Rose finally said, her hazel eyes boring deep into Kai’s.
Kai blinked back the stupid look on his face.
He always thought an Alpha and a Luna were supposed to be mates forever. Their union was blessed by the Moon Goddess.
Never would he have imagined a Luna would fall in love with someone else other than the Alpha.
"You’re kidding, right?" Kai asked, shocked.
Apparently, that was the wrong reaction to Rose's confession, for she suddenly had a deep frown on her face.
"That's why I asked you if you have ever fallen in love before, because if you have, you would understand where I'm coming from."
“I'm sorry Rose, but I can't help you do this. I can't help you kill the Alpha. It's high treason. If I'm caught… I-I'll be killed on the spot. "
Kai turned to go, and Rose grabbed his arm with a vice-like grip.
"Help me Kai, or you'll regret it."
When he looked into her eyes, there was only hate staring back, and he felt a shiver run through him.
Kai shrugged Rose's hand off and stepped back. He wasn't afraid of her; he knew her before she had become a Luna yet now standing there with her eyes staring daggers at him he wasn't sure anymore.
“I'm a beta of this pack and one of Alpha Ross's loyal betas, and I cannot do what you ask, even though you are my Luna.
When Rose opened her mouth to speak, Kai felt anger course through him. A slow dull throb was starting to form somehere behind his temples.
"Don't you ever ever come to me again asking for such a request or I'll be forced to forget we were once friends.
As soon as he had said that, Rose's expression suddenly went slack and she stepped away from him.
"I see…that's alright. I won't come asking for something like this anymore it was stupid of me. I'll go now.
With that, Rose walked away from him, heading back to the settlements. He stood there for a few seconds, watching her walk away.
The movement of her buttocks in her simple gown.
Kai looked away from her. He once had a crush on Rose back when they were little. She had changed so much and he'd let go of the past.
After she was mated to Alpha Ross, he came to terms with the fact that he would never have her as his mate.
Who the hell was telling Rose that it was okay to kill the Alpha, her very own mate?
As Kai stood there watching Rose as she returned back to the settlement, his mind was in a great deal of turmoil.
He should inform Ross about what Rose had just told him, but on the other hand, he still had feelings for her even though she wasn't his and he was afraid what the outcome would be for her.
Kai had gone back on having feelings a long time ago after Rose had rejected him for Ross years ago.
He'd trained himself not to let the things women did get under his skin.
Yet whenever he looked at Rose, he wanted her badly, even after the rejection.
The truth was that he couldn't have her, even if he wanted to; she belonged to an Alpha now.
Regardless, he decided he would let Alpha Ross know what Rose had just asked of him. Whoever was setting Rose up for such an idea needed to be found.
*****************************Running as a wolf was one of the best things that Kai enjoyed doing.
It calmed his head just being in the first run, the air on his fur, his legs moving across the forest ground faster than any human eyes could follow.
His eyes were ten times better than a human and ten times better than those of any animal in the woods.
Kai, at that moment, was an apex predator. He was an unstoppable creature of the night.
Moving fluidly across the ground, he felt his wolf get stronger.
It had been exactly a week ago since his Luna had asked for his help to murder his Alpha.
Against his own better judgment, he hadn't told Ross what Rose had asked of him, because in the end, he couldn't put Rose in danger.
Nothing had happened since then, and Kai had reason to believe that Rose had thrown the thought away from her head.
He could see the OA settlement now and in the distance, his wolf eyes could pick up little pinpricks of orange dots which were scattered across the settlement.
Campfires.
As soon as Kai reached the outskirts of the settlement, he shifted to his human form easily.
The full moon was out, and he would not experience pain as he transitioned either to his wolf or human self. The moon numbed it.
But something was wrong. He couldn't tell what it was, but he knew that something was terribly wrong.Suddenly, someone latched onto his shoulder and before he could react, he felt a kick to his legs.
Kai's two legs were swept under his feet as he lost contact with the ground, his back hitting the leaves strewn ground of the forest painfully, the breath knocked out of him.
He looked around him to see three of his pack Betas surrounding him.
“Lift him up."
The voice was familiar, and when he turned to look in the direction of the voice, he saw Adam, one of the pack's best fighters and a close Beta to Ross just like him.
Before Kai could react, a heavy metallic object was placed over his neck.
Kai felt himself instantly get weak in the knees. Standing up was with great difficulty.
He could barely even move. He realized what they had placed around his neck was silver.
A werewolf's greatest weakness and nightmare.
Kai was roughly dragged to his feet, and they began dragging him out of the outskirts of the woods, deeper into the settlement.
"What's going on? Where are you people taking me to?" he asked with great difficulty.
None of them answered. Everyone just continued on as if no one had spoken.
Kai was getting weaker and weaker with each step they took. If the silver was still in contact with his body in a few minutes, he was going to go into cardiac arrest.
Not him, but his wolf, and if his wolf died, he died too.
"What's going on?" he asked again weakly, and yet again no one answered him.
When Kai looked ahead, he saw the location of where he was being dragged, and slowly he began to understand what was going on, even with his brain muddled by the silver on his body.
After Adam and the other Betas had reached the cottage. In the cottage of Alpha Ross and Rose, it started to dawn on him what was going on.
He could see Rose framed on the ground sobbing quietly through the open door.
Kai felt something hitch in his throat, and his body suddenly felt like it had been dipped in cold water.
The betas dropped him onto the ground, and he just lay there weak, unable to move or say anything.
From where he lay, he watched as Adam squatted to his height, his face inches above his.
“You've been accused of killing the Alpha. Is this true? "
Kai knew it was coming even before Adam said it, yet it still felt like something had been ripped away from his body, something vital.
Kai would have defended himself, but the silver wasn't allowing him to speak. He was so weak that the mere act of rolling his eyes was met with great pain.
"You're not going to talk, Kai?" Adam spat.
How could he talk when he had the silver around his neck and when he was so weak that it felt like he was going to pass into everlasting sleep at any second?
By now, other pack members had started coming out of their settlements, and the Alphas' house was quickly turning into a center of attraction.
"Cover the door, they shouldn't see his body," he heard Adam whisper to someone harshly.
So the Alpha was truly dead and now he was being framed for the murder and he couldn't even talk to defend himself.
Rose stepped out of the cottage, and now she was standing over him, staring at him like he was some kind of vermin, her eyes teary and her face stained with tears.
A face that told him, I warned you, but you just wouldn't listen
Again, Kai opened his mouth to speak, and he felt a sharp pain behind his eyes. Colors swam there for a few seconds before they disappeared.
Rose bent low to his ears and whispered, "I warned you, and now you will die for your stupidity."
Kai felt something break inside his heart. They had betrayed him, his pack had betrayed him, and his childhood friend Rose had set him up for murder.
Her betrayal hurt the most.
Rose moved away from him and rose back to her full height, flashing him a small smirk that only he could see.
"Take him to the pit. He'll be executed tomorrow.’
That was the last thing he heard before he vanished into unconsciousness.
Kai had lost all sense of time. To him, the only thing he could feel was the burning pain that came from where the silver touched his body. He hadn't been fed yet; hunger was the least of his problems. He felt like he was slowly going mad the darkness of the room he had been out in coupled with his wild thoughts and most of all the silver. The silver hurt like a bitch. How had it happened so quickly? One minute he was returning from a run and the next minute he was accused of killing his Alpha. He was definitely screwed. That much was certain. When he had looked into the eyes of his full pack Betas, especially Adam he had seen no mercy there. They weren't going to spare him. Kia was going to have to come to terms with the fact that this could be his last day to walk among wolves. Yet he didn't feel fear. It was strange. He only felt a weird sense of detachment, something he couldn't fully explain. Kia just lay there in the darkness, feeling nothing but anger. His wolf was ma
"No," a voice boomed from somewhere behind the sea of gathered pack members. Kai lifted his head weakly and focused his eyes on a shape that was slowly making its way from behind the pack. As his eyes remained on the shape, the features of Rose came into view. Dressed in a blood-red gown that made her complexion gleam strangely in the dark night, her long ebony hair falling in waves behind her back. She was a pretty sight. What made him even have feelings for such a devil? Kai watched as Rose slowly made her way to the platform, her eyes glinting somewhat mischievously. She climbed the platform slowly, cautiously, as if she was enjoying every single moment of what was happening. "Let him speak," Rose announced, her voice cutting into the night air like a sharp arrow. "He is one of Alpha Ross's trusted five and asides that every wolf in the Silver Moon pack had the right to a fair hearing. So let him speak before we jump to any conclusions." A ripple of murmur rose from the sea
Three Years Later. The slap landed on her face so quickly that Delilah hadn't even seen it coming. Her face stung horribly, and she felt tears leap to her eyes. Her reaction had been slow and once the human-to-human contact left her face, she could taste blood in her mouth. She turned to glare at the person who had slapped her. "Who the hell do you think you are?" Delilah just stood there glaring at Kate, the daughter of the Pack's Alpha. "My name is Delilah," she said stubbornly. Kate made to slap her again, but Delilah put her hands up in defense. There was jeering behind Kate's back as a group of female werewolves sniveled and laughed at her. "Don't you ever talk back to me when I'm talking to you," Kaye growled and her eyes suddenly turned amber. Delilah kept her mouth shut. It was no use trying to rile Kate up further. She was with her gang now and if she made a wrong move or said something stupid, Kate was going to make sure she regretted it. Besides, she had no wolf
It had been a week since the Alpha had made the announcement to merge two packs after the attack from the rogues had come.Since then Delilah had done her best to remind as small and as insignificant as possible.Keeping only to herself she didn't engage in a conversation with anyone neither did she tell anyone that secretly deep down she wanted to become a Luna.If anyone from the pack heard that from her mouth or she even showed an inclination towards it she was sure she would be chained and dropped somewhere she wouldn't be able to see the ceremony.Delilah didn't want that. She wanted to witness everything from beginning to end.Today the pack was alive with bustling sounds of preparation. In many ways than one Delilah was thankful for the ceremony at least. Kate had gotten off her neck. She and her bully gang pretended as though she didn't exist and Delilah did the same for them too.It wasn't even difficult. She'd been doing it for as long as she could remember. That morning whi
Delilah couldn't believe what had just happened. I must be dreaming. This cannot be true. But the cold edge of the crown pressed into her head reminding her that it was indeed reality. The whole pack had turned to look at her and at that moment Delilah iust wanted the ground to open up and swallow her.But the ground didn't and she was left sitting down there looking back at the pack watching the different sets of expressions etched on ýtheir faces."The one who has the crown please step forth" Adams voice broke through her reverie.Delilah wasn't sure she could do this. She had been daydreaming about what it must have felt to be a Luna but now she suddenly had the moon crown on her head and she was backing out.The pack continued to stare at her watching her every single move as she dragged herself up from where she sat and slowly made her way to the platform.Adam stood smiling on the platform as she walked over to it, everything suddenly feeling like a dream. She climbed it with t
"Scotch on the rocks please.""One glass of scotch on the rocks coming up" Kai said, throwing the older man a wide smile. He made his way over to the bar stand and made the required drink as effortlessly as he had come countless times since he started in the Vermont bar.Kai had never imagined himself being a bartender but in the end no one knew how life was going to turn out if them.He liked his job, all he had to do was make people drunk with alcohol. He didn't have to interfere, just pour a drink and let the alcohol handle the rest.Every now and then there was the occasional shuffle which he handled with the help of his werewolf strength easily.Asides that he didn't see much if a hassle in being a bartender. He wouldn't exactly say the pay was grand but his lifestyle wasn't exactly grand so he could live with it.Every now and then he caught the occasional whiff of the scent of a wolf and he went into instant alert. After what happened to him three years ago Kai had picked up a
Delilah stood uncomfortably close to the outskirts of the settlement. She was holding just a small bag and her eyes were fixed to the ground in an attempt not to cry.So far the tears hadn't come yet and that was okay. She was okay for now.Her pack had just sold her off to another pack like a common animal and even though she should have seen it coming it still hurt.Still hurt like a bitch.Delilah adjusted the small bag in her hands and made her way over to the van that was standing on the highway.Kate hadn't arrived yet with the other Betas as her father was giving her instructions and her group were teary eyed fawning over her.Delilah decided she would use the time to herself, maybe look at the sky or something. It was better than standing awkwardly in the corner while Kate the bully was being blessed. The moon goddess hadn't even chose her and yet here was Kate taking what rightfully belonged to her.It was a sum of the pitiful existence of her life. Everything and anything s
The first thing that hit him as soon as he opened his eyes was the foul stench that greeted his nose.Kai tried to move his hands and failed. He'd been tied, he could tell by the ropes that were cutting into his skin. No, not ropes. He had been chained. As he moved his hands around the heavy metal that had been used to pin the both of his hands a sharp pain suddenly built in his body.He remembered at once. He'd been shit twice; one on the stomach and another on the shoulder.Kai winced at the pain in his shoulder and he tried to tug against the chains. The bullets that had been used to shoot him weren't ordinary bullets. They had been dipped in wolfsbane. For now it was temporarily stopping his powers from activating and healing his wounds. He needed to get the two bullets out of his system at once if he stood a chance of escaping from this place.Kai sniffed the air around him and wrinkled his nose. His face had been covered with a dirty sack bag. That was the least of his problem
Dean knew something was different the moment he opened his eyes that morning. He was like that; sometimes he could know what would happen even before it would happen or after it happened. His outstretched arms were draped on the bed and from the empty space there and the way that the bed sheet still seemed perfectly arranged he knew instantly that his wife hadn’t slept there.Dean wasn’t surprised, shortly after the news about Kate’s death reached her he had started to notice some changes in Jean. For one he was suddenly withdrawn as through the death of her child had opened to her eyes the possibilities that she hadn’t seen before. But the most funny part of it all was the scent he got off her sometimes. It was the scent of sex and another wolf. Jean was sleeping out he knew and the fact that she thought she could sleep with a wolf in their pack here and climb into his bed after she had done the evil deed brought a wide grin across his face. There was nothing that pleased him more th
Delilah moved through the room quickly. Grated it wasn't her room hit she needed to take some clothes lest she got naked as she went on the search for a place to stay. As she opened the closet where there was a few clothes she asked herself why she suddenly turned around and returned to this room. Her original plan had been to leave as soon as she saw Kai had killed Liam but in the end she count follow through with her plan. She was almost halfway away from the pack when she simply turned around and returned. Maybe it was this longing to see Kai one last time that had driven her back to the Healer pack. Whatever it was she couldn't tell and now as she paced the small room trying to gather her thoughts, she w
The feeling that went through Delilah when she shifted for the first time was like a dash of dopamine. She wanted more and more and more of the electric feeling that was running through her body.If there was anybody who had ever told her that it would hurt then right there and then she would have called the person a fool. Shifting for the first time for her had come as a dopamine rush.Shifting hadn’t hurt one bit, it had come to her so smoothly that she barely had time to notice the changes that were taking place within her body. One minute she had been standing calling ion her wolf and the next minute Lilah had taken over completely. The power flooding through her at that moment was enormous, she felt invincible, she felt like her enemies would die with a single sweep of her mighty paws and she could crush bones with a snap of her jaws. Her hearing, her sight, her smell were all enhanced and her wolf at that moment was screaming for one
Delilah stood behind the gathered pack, keeping her distance as Kai climbed to a makeshift platform the pack had erected for him to be able to give his speech today. She watched him as he walked the short way to the platform and stood gazing down at the crowd. As he stood there, Delilah felt affection for him course through her. The both of them had come a long way fought through a lot of hair and both of them had come out victorious. On the platform behind Kai were the remaining Betas from Liam's pack, who had survived the attack yesterday. Members of the healer pack had tied them up, and as they waited for Kai to pass his final judgment. As soon as Kai faces the pack, the earlier murmur that had been prese
Kia knew he had the upper hand with Liam, he could tell he was getting weak, there was a slash on one of his head, legs and he was limping. It had taken him some time to be able to get that wound in. But it had cost him too; Lim had gotten to his eyes, his left eyes specifically. It just lay there on his face dripping blood riddled of any vision. Kia was worried; if an attack came at his blind side he wasn’t sure he would be able to see it. The Betas and the healer pack were watching, eyes fixed intensively on the fight unfolding before their eyes. He couldn’t let Liam win; it would be like committing suicide if he let him win. One way or the other he was going to end this cycle of violence. Too weak to come at me? He still had that cocky voice like he still had everything under control but that was far from the case. Why don’t you come at me, or your leg won’t let you? They circled each
"What does this tattoo mean."It had taken a while but with the help of Miranda and members of the Healer pack Kai had been able to round up the remaining Silver Moon Betas that had survived the fight. Now without an Alpha the pack was ready to accept him as their Alpha because he was the one who had fallen the old Alpha as per the law.But Kai wasn't really enthusiastic about becoming an Alpha. For now he just wanted some peace and quiet.Miranda has temporarily appointed someone from her pack to act as standing Alpha till Kai was ready to take up the mantle.Delilah was sleeping in one of the empty tents and images of her naked butt under the display of her gown filtered into his mind as his cock pushed against his pants. He had to be careful about his thoughts, Miranda always had a way of finding out.Miranda took a closer look at the tattoo frowning for a
Delilah rolled out of the way even with the slash on her back sending jolts of pain coursing through her body. Liam and Kai were already in combat with their wolf forms as they both circled each other brutishly strong and powerful.Delilah was aware of arms lifting her to her feet and the pain in her back intensifying. The rest of the Beta's that had arrived with Liam just stood there watching obeying the natural set law.She was aware of the arms that were carrying her, lifting her up, so that her face was to the sky and she marveled at how peaceful the sky was in contrast to the madness that was going on below it.There was a sticky feeling in her back and she was aware of blood running down the small of her back as she was being moved to somewhere she didn't know.
Sitting on the stump of the tree, the image of Delilah’s face as she yelled at him kept flashing before his eyes. Each time it popped up Kai pushed it down in a hurry. He wasn’t about to start feeling guilty for the decision he made. There was nothing he could do about it now.Yet why was he feeling this strange feeling of anguish in his heart as he thought about what he had said and the way Delilah had felt.He was right though, even though they weren’t friends again and hadn’t talked to each other for three years he knew Liam more that his once upon a time best friend knew himself.Lima would never stop until he had Delilah within his grasp and he would kill and destroy just to make sure he got what he wanted.
As soon as the man who had delivered the message finished Delilha was up on her feet, her heart beating madly in her chest. She was torn between two emotions.Rage at what her uncle had done to her and her parents and fear at the wolves who had just infiltrated the healer pack."How?" that's not possible Miranda said, staring pointedly at the man."Apparently they tracked someone here the Betas outside are requesting to meet someone named Delilah.Delilah's heart sank at those words. It was definitely Liam and his pack there was no doubt about it."She's my guest and she's in my grounds. Tell them to leave."
