Detective Gomez loved working for Mr. MacMillan, and he had always been his go to detective, he knew that and that was why he loved being on his retainer. It was one of the reasons he was working for him, his ability to keep work as confidential as possible.

This wasn’t the first case he had worked on for him, but this seemed like it was important because of the way he had stressed on making sure he stayed hidden. The job was to find out everything he could about a cop, any dirt if there was one.

When they had met yesterday, he had told him that he needed him to make things snappy with what he was asked to find and the things he was already starting to discover were a lot more interesting than all of the things he had worked on for him combined.

They would be meeting today and he would be telling him everything he had found so far, and to work as silently as possible because he didn’t want his parents to find out what he was doing. It would only lead them to be curious about why he

Cameron would be going out later in the evening to meet Detective Gomez, as scheduled. He could have waited for his appointment to be over and met with him, or even allow him to come home but he didn’t want anyone to know that he was meeting a detective, especially Ruby. Speaking of, he needed to see her. She was the reason he had left work to come home first before going to his appointment with the detective because he was still worried about her. He knew that she had not been eating, neither was she taking her pills, so he had to come home to see her. He was really worried about her, and he hated that the man was getting to her this much. This was making him so curious and wondering how much feeling she had for him left, or what exactly happened between them. To be honest, he was confused, but he knew she said she didn't have any feelings for him anymore, and that at least he could believe. There was still something there though, only she wasn't sure what it was. If truth be told

Cameron sat there dumbfounded, not sure if it was possible for him to believe everything Detective Gomez had just told him. Of course, he would be needing proof which he was asking for a few days to find, but he wanted him to know about it, and have an inkling of what he had found. He wouldn't gain anything by lying to him, and if he was already trying to find him proof, then he should know it was the truth. The only problem now was not sure if he would ever understand how all of those things happened right under his nose without ever knowing. What he had asked the detective to find was anything he could use to destroy Ruby’s ex, but what he found was a little bit different from that. According to him, he had found out that the man knew his mother and they had met a few times in the past in secret as if she was having an affair with him. Cameron knew his mother, she could be slightly different from other mothers, or even other wives, but he had always thought that it was because of

Ruby was fine now, and she had forgotten all about Roy, which was why she was taking the kids out to make up for all the times she had been coupe up in her room. She looked at herself in the mirror at her dresser, before smiling and grabbing the pale link lipstick she wanted to use. She rarely used makeup at all, but today was one of the days she used it because she was still looking all pale, as if something was wrong with her, even though she was feeling better than she was before. Using her index finger to rub her bottom lip, so that she would get the lipstick in the entire area, she moved her face closer to the mirror to check if she had done a good job. Once confirmed, she covered the lipstick with the top case attached as a cover and dropped it right back where she had dropped it. Just then, the door of her room swung open and Summer poked her head in. "Hey, Ruby. We're waiting for you downstairs in the living room.” She said a huge smile on her face. Ruby turned to face her

“You both should go wait in the car. Ruby will be with you both soon.” Ruby heard Cameron say to the kids as she looked at Spring with a smile when he cleaned off his forehead, and she sighed. What was it he wanted to say to her that he didn't want to say in the presence of his kids anyway? She asked herself. But, it was only when they walked out the door and it was safely closed that she knew that he wasn’t about to say anything to her or ask her anything. He wanted to do something to her. He grabbed her hand and pulled, no, yanked her to him so hard that she gasped. It was sudden and unexpected which made it catch her unaware and she opened her mouth slightly to breathe from there. “You look ticking eatable, baby. I just want to use my mouth to lick every part of you, so much that you'll be all wet like you just had a shower.” He said, before grabbing the back of her head to pull her close for a kiss. He kissed her gently, so softly, she thought that he was trying not to hurt he

She was sad, and she had been since the day before yesterday when she had taken the kids out. Although, she had tried as much as she could to make sure that the kids didn't notice the change in her mood, but she couldn't help feeling this now. Now, all she did was keep to herself and just go about her duty.It was after all, what she was here for. She knew quite well that she had to do her job well, well enough that there wouldn't be any chance to see a reason to get rid of her. That might not be what would happen but she was too sure she wanted to take a chance. Cameron hadn't said anything to her since then, not even a single word, and that not only worried but scared her. Had she been right about her first instinct of why he wanted her and was now showing it because he doesn't need her any longer? There were so many things going through her head that she just couldn't get answers to. It might sound like she was just overthinking things, but it wasn’t. She had even tried as much a

Sighing, she nodded. "Fine!” she said through gritted teeth and then watched him leave. When he was gone, she did as she was told, wondering why he wanted her to set out the food in the dining room they rarely used. They came into the room behind Cameron after she was done, and she saw he had changed into comfy clothes. The guests were two women and a man. They were equally dressed in jeans and a t-shirt and blouses. Once they sat down, one of the women asked Cameron. “Your maid sure looked beautiful. Was it Flora that recommended her?” Ruby looked at the woman, and then at Cameron, waiting for his reply. It was better to let him answer that than to make a fuss. The woman was beautiful, and she looked like she was rich, but she shouldn't have assumed she was the maid. “Oh,” Cameron looked at Ruby and then back at her. "She's not my maid. She's Summer and Spring’s nanny.” He said. Ruby waited for him to say more, but he didn't. She looked at him, but he refused to look at her. Oh

Things were back to normal back at home, but that wasn’t what was disturbing Cameron as he sat behind his desk that afternoon. He had received a mail from Detective Gomez about what he had found. In his mail were the details of what he had found about Roy and the numerous things that could be used against him, like his flawed work ethics and so on. This was good, he thought as he rubbed his temple. Damn, he was spotting a nasty headache, but he couldn't blame it, he had been working nonstop since he got to the office this morning. He wanted to be as fast as he could about work so that he would leave early and go home to dinner with his best friend and family. Lee had called him during the five minutes break they had in the meeting this morning to let him know they would be coming over. That was good because it had been a while since they got together for that. There was surely space for getting together like this once in a while if they find the time. “I really miss eating dinner

“Interesting. I see you grabbing her hand. Is something going on?” Lee's voice pulled Ruby's eyes away from Cameron. After she had set the table and started to walk to the other space at the end of the table to take her seat, he grabbed her, telling her to seat with him instead of going there. She froze, fear coming into her widened eyes as she looked from Lee to Flora, as they watched them. The kids were also looking at her as she stood there. “Get it together, Ruby. You’re looking as if you got caught hiding something. Speak, you're not dumb.” Her brain said to her. “Huh, sorry?” she asked, closing her widened eyes back to normal to keep a straight face, and then she looked away from both Lee and Flora.“I see Cameron grabbing you, I'm asking if there's something going on.” He said. Although she wasn’t looking at him anymore, she could hear the smile in his words, which meant that he was finding this amusing. Was it possible that Cameron had told him about them? He was his bes

Closing the door behind her, she turned to see something on her bed and she stopped in her stride, squinting her eyes to determine what it could be. She had left nothing at all on her bed when she left it this morning, so it could only be from one person, and that was Cameron. This must be what he meant when he said something about the gift he was preparing. With a small smile on her face, she walked to the bed to take a closer look at whatever it was. She definitely knew that she was going to have to thank him when he got back from work. This was really nice, she thought even though she hadn't seen it yet. The package was wrapped in a gift box with a ribbon tied in a bow at the top. Slowly, she sat down beside it and opened it, unwrapping the wrapper after getting rid of the bow. This was making her feel like she was a little girl on a Christmas morning, unwrapping a gift she had been expecting from her father. She finally got the wrapper off the box and with a sigh, she opened t

When Davey came into the kitchen, he took Summer out and back to her room by picking her up and Ruby turned towards Cameron. He had gone upstairs after she was done with breakfast to have his bath. He said he had a meeting at the office to attend to. He still hadn't wished her a happy birthday, but she guessed he must have forgotten about it because she had only mentioned it once. She would be sure to remind him after this one, so he doesn't forget anymore that easily. She definitely still stood by her word on not caring about that because she was grateful that she could spend it around people she loved and that loved her, and that was enough. At this point, all she wanted to do was have fun with the kids, call Olivia, and then make great food for lunch and dinner, even if it meant that she would stress herself out to achieve that. Cameron was wearing a dark sunglasses that hid his beautiful eyes from her but the rest of him looked as gorgeous. The dark brown suit hugged hid body p

Summer picked up the book she left in the living room and she walked back to the kitchen to sit with Spring, as Ruby made lunch. She would be going out soon because it was her birthday tomorrow, and she was planning to get some things to prepare for it. “Stop pulling that, Spring. Leave your sister alone.” She said when she saw Spring pulling at Summer’s book. He loved to pick on her sometimes like that, but she was always there to stop him. Spring laughed. "I was just messing with her, but she's a crybaby.” He said as Summer’s eyes started to water with tears. Ruby smiled and shook her head, then she begged Summer and told her not to cry. It was all she could do not to send them both out of the kitchen. They were really distracting her, and she needed to get the lunch done on time if she wanted to get going soon. “I’ll tell Daddy once he's back.” Summer said. Spring raised his shoulder in a single shrug as if he didn’t care who she told. The boy was growing so fast every day th

Olivia grabbed her purse from the kitchen counter, and then her keys from the small table in the living room, ready to head out for a shift at the hospital. She had rejected Liam’s offer to come to pick her up on his way to work as well. Although, she was a bit tired and sleepy, but she had to drive to the hospital because she would be going to the police station to meet Ruby. They had submitted the evidence to the police and Roy had been taken in for questioning. It was another sweltering day and her thick scrubs are not taking the high temperatures into concern at all, making her wish she could stay inside with the air conditioner at full blast. But seeing as she couldn't do that, she started to go out of the apartment, and got to the front door, opening it to step outside. She had barely made it out her front door and she was already feeling the heat welcoming her. Thankfully, her car had an air conditioner, but the only disadvantage was that she couldn't turn it on for long. She

Cameron reached out his hands to grab her before she meet the floor, and then he bent from his waist to grab her behind her knees. Grabbing her, he hoisted her up and into his arms. “Just don't struggle if you don't want your towel to fall off. Or you could, because I'll get to see you like I've been wanting since like forever.” He said, and Ruby stopped squirming in his arms immediately, settling. He walked to the bed and sat down, settling her against his lap, and holding her there, with her butt firmly against his crotch. He groaned at when she squirmed against him, and then she stopped. Ruby realized he was semi hard against her, and she wondered how that was what was in his mind when he had only come in to talk. But then again, he was a man with blood running through his vein, so she understood he would be aroused by being this close to him. She was, after all, aroused too, as she felt her nipples tighten into hard little rocks, and the junction of her thigh tightened in pain.

She waited there, waiting for Davey to come to get the door as she pressed the doorbell, but when the door ripped open, it was someone unexpected that opened it. Cameron! But, it wasn't entirely strange that he was the one that answered the door, after all, it was his house. She started up at him for a long moment, actually, she wasn't sure how long she had stood there staring at him, but when he cleared his throat, she snapped herself out of the daze she had been in. The truth was not that she didn’t know what to say as she watched him, but the fact that she realized at that moment how much she had missed him and how much she had wanted to see him. She had not even realized it sooner until that moment. His beauty, just as he looked on at her, his elegance, as he stood there, his stance, and the way the light behind him in the hallway, made him look even better than he was. Not that he wasn't handsome or anything though. There was something about seeing a man one was in love with

“Dad, ask your wife why she did all that. Please do, because I'm on a very thin line with withholding my anger here.” Cameron said as he looked from his mother to his father. He was really angry. He had waited until Gomez gave him all the proofs to take to her before coming over to confront her. Although he hadn't done anything wrong, he had to shoulder the responsibility for what her actions had caused, and the hate directed towards him by Ruby, a woman he was madly in love with. "What are you doing here, Cam?” Sarah asked behind him. They had talked about this, and she had begged him not to cause a scene, but he just couldn't. It wasn't something he could do. "You should go home and leave Mom. You look really exhausted." She said, observing him.Cameron wanted to roll his eyes because he knew she was only saying that to make him leave and stop yelling at their mother like that. Well, he didn't mean to be disrespectful, but he just couldn't stay quiet any longer. “Stay out of this,

When the phone rang, Ruby was sitting in the living room back at home with Olivia sitting on the couch in front of her. She was telling her about how many times Cameron had called her just to speak with her. She picked up her phone and frowned down at it, not sure she wanted to pick up a call from a strange number. For all she knew, it could be Cameron, but then again, this wasn't his number. She would have recognized it if it was, as she had it memorized. Besides, she knew he wouldn't call her again after he had done it several times but she hadn't picked it up. “Who’s that?” Olivia asked and Ruby lifted her shoulder in a shrug. “I don't know who it is.” She said. She wasn't a psychic so she couldn't possibly know who was calling her. Olivia was convinced it might be Cameron though, because of the look in her eyes. She was even more angry than she was, on her behalf, she would say every time they talked about it. “Then you won't if you don't pick it up. You can drop your phone a

It's been a solid hour since Cameron sat outside the hospital in the garden with his hand in his pocket and a lot going through his head. He had left the room and come out here when Ruby told him to leave because she didn't want to see him yet, whatever that meant. She was probably blaming him, but that was fine. He was blaming himself as well. It didn't help matters that his family was here; his mother and father, Davey must have called them. He said there in silence, when though his phone buzzed in his pocket for a while now. Someone had been calling him about fifteen minutes after he came out but he had refused to get his phone out of his pocket or pick it up. It was of no use right now, not when the woman he was madly in love with was in this state, and not when she had walked him out.Soon, he heard the rustling of a person’s footsteps behind him, but this was a public place, so it could be anyone, but when the person stopped at his back, he knew they were there for him. “Cam
