Keira’s POV

Over the next few days I work with Talia on learning all the different drinks and cleaning up the shop to get it ready for the grand re-opening. Talia was nice enough to make me a chart to follow for some of the more complicated drinks, I have it laminated and taped to the counter for easy access. I’ve also been learning how to work the register, and how to clean and maintain all the different equipment. There’s the coffee pots, the espresso machine, the grinders, the milk steamer, the dispensers where we store the cold brew, and chai, and even the dishwasher. It’s a lot of new information so Talia also made me a daily and weekly cleaning/ maintenance checklist for everything. I’ve been keeping pretty busy with the coffee shop, but I’ve also managed to begin updating my new apartment. I picked a pale yellow color for my walls and had Dave order me a few gallons. When I’m not training in the shop, I’ve been deep cleaning and painting my apartment. Talia and Dave

Keira’s POVI get back to the shop where Talia is waiting for me. She waves as I approach.“Lily! Where have you been?” She asks.“I went to the lake to get away from the crowds.”“Alone? You should be careful being so close to the woods.” She says.“I met Vivian out there.” “Oh, she’s so polite. It was a sad day when her father passed away. It forced Beta Shepard into his position. Have you met him yet?” She asks. SHEPARD! That was his name! “Yes, twice actually. Once at the hardware store and then he came up to us by the lake.” “Isn’t he a dream boat?! Uhg! He’s so cute. And the Alpha is even more attractive.” She stares off into the distance. I giggle.“But enough of that, let’s walk around. Everything is open and it smells amazing out here.” She links her arm in mine and leads me down the street. We see Nat at a booth and we try some of the baked goods we’ll be selling in the coffee shop. Everything was incredible. There was a booth se

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 18

Keira’s POVThe rest of the party was pretty uneventful. I met so many people, hopefully I can remember everyone’s names. I set my alarm for 5 am, and when I wake up it’s still dark outside. I sit up and turn my alarm off. Gosh it’s so early. I begrudgingly drag myself out of bed and into the bathroom. I splash my face with water in an attempt to try and wake up more. It helps, a little. This is too early, hopefully I’ll get use to it. I brush my teeth and get dressed. I slip my shoes on and head out the door. I turn on the lights and stretch. Please let me get use to this. I unlock the door and walk down to the bakery. I knock on the door. Nat opens it.“You look like crap.” She says. I can’t help but laugh. “5 is a bit early for me, but I’m sure I’ll get use to it.” She opens the door wider and lets me in. “Here, this is for the shop. And this is for you.” She hands me two bags.“Me?” I ask.“Yeah, some food will wake you up.” Oh how sweet. May is ni

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 19

Keira’s POVOver the next few days, Talia and I get into a good routine at work. My body’s still not used to getting up so early, but I’m still going. Hopefully I’ll get more used to it soon. Getting to know everyone in the village has been easy. I’ve even come to know some of the warriors that come into the coffee shop everyday. Tomorrow is Sunday and the shop is closed. Talia wants to take me shopping, since I still don’t have very many clothes. The next morning, I didn’t have my alarm set, but I still woke up early, that’s a good sign I suppose. I get up and make some coffee. I have a lite breakfast before I shower and get ready. After my shower, I do my hair. I’ve been experimenting with some new styles on my hair since I’ve been here, mostly simple ones, but today I’m going to attempt a french braid. I’ve never done it one myself before, but I’ve done it on other people. I try for a good 10 minutes before giving up and just doing a regular braid. My arms are so ti

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 20

Keira’s POVOver the next few days, Talia and I get back into our work routine. Everyone in the pack is really nice, and business is going great. But I can feel Harper getting antsy again. After I get off work, I walk back out to the woods. I need to let Harper out to let off some steam. I walk until I’m deep enough into the woods that no one will see me. I get undressed and shift into Harper. She stretches out and darts off into the forrest, letting the wind run through her fur. I can tell how happy this makes her. She runs until we reach a small stream, Harper stops to take a sip of water. “We need to do this more often. Being cooped up all the time isn’t good for me. And you don’t train anymore. We need to do some drills.” Harper tells me. She is such a warrior.“Yeah I’ll be sure to put that in my calendar right next to sleeping.” “You’ve gotten so lazy.” She huffs. Then she takes off running again. She chases a rabbit for awhile before giving up. She wind

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 21

Keira’s POVOver the next few days, I was cautious not to draw attention to myself, but I kept my ears open for anything. To my surprise I didn’t hear anything about the incident in the woods. The only thing I did hear was a planned pack run. The wolf I saw in the woods was definitely high ranking. Based on their size and speed, I’m guessing at least a Delta, or maybe a particularly large warrior. This pack run could be a ploy to see all of the wolves. Good thing I’m an Omega and can claim that I can’t shift, which will save me from the run. I’m in the middle of making a latte for an order when the bell on the door rings. I turn to see Whitney and a few other girls walk into the cafe. Just perfect. “Welcome.” I greet them. Just be professional and non-confrontational. They laugh to eachother and don’t respond. Just smile Keira. They walk over to the counter and wait while I finish up a pour over. I hand the drinks to the customer and greet the three women again.“Hello, what can I get

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 22

Keira’s POV“Are we destined to always meet in the woods?” I look up and see Alpha Theo. Why are we always alone in the woods together. I realize I’m standing at the grave of someone I don’t know. I take a step away from it.“Are you going to run from me like last time?” He asks. Of course he can smell me. He’s an alpha. What do I do? I take another step back. Alpha Theo puts his hands up in a surrendering jester.“I’m not going to hurt you if that’s what you are worried about. I just want to know why you ran, and why you are pretending to be an omega?” I close my eyes to see if there is anyone in the area. There’s no point in trying to run, he knows who I am now. I don’t smell or hear anyone else around.“Lily, right?” I open my eyes.“In my old pack, my mate abused me and tried to kill me. A girl told me about Samara, that she could get me into a new pack but only as an omega. One night my mate came after me again. I ended up stabbing him and running away

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 23

Keira’s POVI hear a branch snap and turn my head to the sound. It’s Shepard. My heart drops in my stomach. How much did he hear? Shepherd looks surprised. Oh no he heard everything.“Shepherd.” I say.“Shepherd what are you doing here?” Alpha asks.“What are you two doing here?” Shepherd asks. I look over at Alpha and realize his hand is on my shoulder and we are pretty close to each other.“Shepherd it’s not-“ an arm wraps around Shepard’s neck and Whitney appears next to him. “Look at what we have here. Looks like the little omega is just moving up the ranks. I can’t believe you would use poor Shepherd and Vivian in your little scheme. That’s really low of you.” Whitney says. “What?” Shepherd asks.“I heard her with her little coffee friend laughing about the whole thing.” I take a step back from Theo.“That’s not true.” I say. But the look on Shepard’s face tells me her words are sinking in.“Shepherd none of that is true.” Theo say

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 24

Keira’s POVOver the next few days I try to busy myself with work. I’m staying later almost everyday and when I’m not working I keep to myself in my apartment. I know Talia has noticed, but it’s not like I can talk to her. I haven’t heard from Shepard or Theo, not that I’m really expecting to. I feel like I’m in a fog. Saturday arrives, and I’m still lost on what I should be doing. I’m cleaning a table at the cafe when someone walks in, it’s Whitney. She comes in laughing with a few others. I walk back behind the counter.“Welcome, what can I get for you?” “For starters you can get out of our pack.” One of the girls tease, they all laugh. Wow, super clever, you’re so smart. I put on a fake smile.“And your order?” I ask.“Three vanilla lattes.” Whitney says. I smile and start to work on their order.“So what are you and Shepard doing tomorrow?” One girl asks Whitney.“Oh he’s taking me out of town so we’ll be gone all day.” She says. So he’s made o

Theo’s POVI’m in a tent meeting with my allied Alpha’s when Grace steps in. “Alpha Theo,” she nods to me then to the other Alphas, showing her respect for our positions. “Forget the formalities Grace. It’s not necessary.” I say. “What’s the news.” “Sir, Pale Moon is awake, our spies say it’s just a matter of waiting for their Alpha to give them the word.” Pale Moon Pack arrived a few miles outside of our borders late last night, before stopping to make camp and rest. A few of my men wanted to attack then, to have the element of surprise on our side, but I refused. There were still some of our women and children who hadn’t evacuated yet, I didn’t want to risk any lives unnecessarily. Our strategy in this battle is mostly defensive. “Get the warriors lined up and ready, I want my men on the left and right sides, intermixed with the allied forces. We’re going to funnel them forward, and hope that our endurance will out last theirs.“Dawson’s POV“Alpha, we should be coming up on t

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 45

Keira’s POVWe arrive outside of Pale Moon pack’s territory, and I feel a mix of emotions. This is my first time returning to the pack that I thought was going to be my home for the rest of my life. The last time I was here I had just stabbed Dawson and ran away ready to spend the rest of my life in hiding, as an omega. Now I’m back, and I’m going to liberate this pack and everyone in it from that piece of shit I used to call ‘mate’.“Have we received any word on the Pale Moon warriors returning?” I ask Shepard.“No, no one has said anything.” I can tell he’s anxious about his pack. Cedar Creek is facing a large army without their beta, if Dawson attacks it’s going to really do some damage to their men. I reach out and grab his hand.“I’m sure they’ll be alright. Theo has support, and you said it yourself He knows how to strategize.” I say, squeezing his hand for comfort.“Keira, it looks like we’ll have to seize Pale Moon.” Fafnir says. He’s right. We haven’t heard back from Dawson

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 43

Keira’s POVShepard and I make our way back into the pack house for the party. Thankfully no one really notices us come in, except for my mother who makes eyes at me from across the room. Her look tells me that she wants to know if I’ve cooled off since my little fit. I respond with only my face, saying that yes, I’m fine.My mother and I have always been able to communicate with one another without using words. It’s something special between us that I’ve always treasured. I follow behind Shepard as we make our way over to the refreshments. Shepard get us both a glass of champagne. I take a big swig as he and I mingle around. No one at the party asks about Shepard and I. Which is good because I wouldn’t even know how to answer them. I’m not entirely sure what to do about this whole Shepard situation. It’s too early for us to make anything official by going public, but I’m definitely not going to hide it either. Shepard deserves better than that. I finish my champagne and grab myself

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 42

Keira’s POVMason is standing there staring at us.“Mason-“ I start, but Mason cuts me off.“It looks like I am interrupting you guys, so I’m going to head back first.” Mason turns and hurries back to the pack house. “Mason.” I say again, but this time he ignores me.“So is that a bad thing?” Shepard asks.“Mason always had a crush on me. But it’s never been anything more than that. Ugh, like I didn’t have enough to think about.” Of course this has to happen now.“We should head back.” Shepard says. He starts walking back but I don’t want to follow him. When he realizes I’m standing still he turns to me. “I really don’t want to go back in there.” I say, whining. Shepard laughs. “You’re going to have to face it at some point, you may as well get it over with.” He says. I sigh. “Do you think my father’s right? I mean, now that I’ve calmed down, I can see how it could be perceived that I ran away from my fated mate to be with you.” I say. Of course it’s not true, but not everyone k

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 41

Keira’s POVI wake up the next morning to an unfamiliar room. I sit up quickly, panicked, but quickly calm when I realize that I’m in Shepard’s cabin. I smile as I recall the events of last night. Shepard and I together.. the prospect of our future happiness brightens my smile to a laugh. Then I yawn and stretch, placing my feet on the cold wooden floor. I gaze around the creaky old cabin, when I realize for the first time that I’m alone. “Shepard?” I call his name, although I already know I’ll receive no response. This cabin is only one room, and I’m the only one in it. I wonder where he could’ve gone? I get up and see my clothes all neatly folded in a stack on the dining table. I chuckle again at this kind gesture from Shepard, and I take it as a sign that he just wanted to let me sleep in. I get dressed and make my way over to the pack house for breakfast. I walk into the cafeteria, and scan the room for Shepard, but I still don’t see him anywhere. “Good morning Keira.” I look o

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 40

Keira’s POV“I can’t believe he did all that to you.” Mason says to me. I just finished explaining to him and Lily what my life was really like with Dawson. “We can’t let that maniac continue to run rampant.” Lily says.“I agree. There has to be something we can do to stop him.” My father says. There’s a knock on the door of the office. Both my mother, father, and Mason all say come in at the same time. They share a few looks, technically this is my mother’s office but Mason is the acting alpha which is higher rank. A messenger walks in and bows. “What is it?” Alpha Mason asks. “A member of the werewolf council is here Alpha.” He says.“The werewolf council?” My mother says. “Oh yes, Alpha Theo said he was going to the werewolf council to tell them about Dawson’s crimes.” I say, “They must be here in regards to those claims.” Shepard adds. “Then let’s go see what he has to say about it all.” My father says. We all head out of the office and downstairs. I see a man with long blac

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 39

Keira’s POV“We’ve finally received word from the warriors!” Someone shouts as they burst through the doors of the dining hall. Shepherd and I standup, leaving our half eaten breakfasts behind, and head to my mother’s office. I knock on the door.“Come in.” She calls out. We walk in and see her sitting at her desk, still reading a piece of white paper.“I’m guessing you are here about this?” She says, pulling her glasses down from her nose and holding up the paper in her hands. “I’m not too keen on showing it to your friend, but here.” She holds it out to me. I walk over and take it from her. I start to read it and I’m shocked. Dawson killed Alpha Thorin in a challenge. I can’t believe it. My hand covers my mouth in shock. I feel a hand rubbing my back, it’s Shepard. The letter also says that Mason and Lily have been found and that Mason has taken on the role as Alpha now. They are headed back home and the don’t think they are being pursued by Pale Moon pack. At the end it says the

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 38

Mason’s POVI feel a pain in my chest and then suddenly the voices of my pack come rushing in. They’re all crying out for my father, Alpha Thorin. I fall to my knees, and hold on tight to Lily as their cries continue to fill my head. The weight of their sorrow mixed with my own is almost too much to bear. But with my father’s last breath, I can feel my own wolf gaining strength. I’m next in line, I will be the new Alpha. I stand to my feet, pushing down the voices in my head. “I need to get to my pack now.” I say.“Head in that direction, that’s where your soldiers should be. We’re going to have to part ways here.” The man who rescued us says. I hurry and run as fast as my body will let me in the direction that he pointed. I can smell my pack’s scent getting stronger and stronger as I approach.“Halt!” I hear some one shout to me. I know it’s one of my own men.“It’s me, it’s Mason.” I reply. Some warriors come out from behind the trees. The looks on their faces tell me everything.

  • Not My Alpha   Chapter 37

Beta Harth’s POV“Alpha Dawson, I CHALLENGE YOU!” Alpha Thorin shouts for all to hear. Dawson starts to laugh.“You can’t be serious. You want to challenge me. You think you’ll just be everyone’s Alpha? The council won’t allow that.” Dawson says.“I’ll give my son the Alpha position at Elk Forest. Then find a suitable replacement for me at Pale Moon. I trust my son to be a better Alpha. Your father knew you’d bring his pack down.” Dawson growls at Thorin.“Now accept my challenge, unless you’re scared.” “Alpha, do you believe this is the right move?” I ask him through mindlink. “If I win, I can save us from a war.” He says.“And if you lose? What will happen with the pack.” “Save Mason, he’ll be the new Alpha.” He replies.“But Alpha-“ he cuts off the mindlink. Dawson looks pissed off.“Fine, I accept. And after I win, my warriors will tear yours apart.” Dawson says. Thorin steps forward and meets Dawson in the middle. I can’t believe
