December 19, 2021 England, Cumbrian mountains near Lake District...
"Alessandra, wake up! We've arrived, you'll get cold if you're not going to open your eyes."
I thought it was true, the man in my dream whom I kissed.
"What?" Mother looks annoyed when my eyes whimpered.
That was a mystical dream, I wonder if that man in my dream was true. His lips were totally cold and I felt like we just kissed... Right now.
"I had a beautiful dream Mom," said while my eyes are puffy.
We're going to celebrate our Christmas in Lake District because my Grandma wanted to stay here—where my grandpa died.
I haven't seen my grandma since I was twelve. She visits at our house in New York when it was my birthday and that was the last time I've seen her.
The house looks small but I think it's comfy, I haven't tried sleeping in a house like this. My heart keeps rumbling because of how excited I am, just how much did my grandma changed?
"Ma!
Mom frowned. "Come here Alessandra, you wouldn't want your granddaughter to see you beating her mother right?"
"You've grown well Lesa." "You haven't changed too Alex, you're still kind as ever. No wonder this woman has still a husband, lucky bitch."
The house wasn't cold and the temperature inside feels normal just like in New York but still the smell from the mountain can still be able to smell by my nose.
"I already prepared your room and also, Alessandra will sleep with me. I haven't able to sleep with my Granddaughter for the past years," said by my grandma.
"Grandma, your room is big. Can I take a bath in your bathroom?" I asked and excitedly run to the bathroom when she agreed.
The whole place was full of painting, from the living room to the bathroom. The styles were about heavy Romance, a shadow model to portray the meaning of the painting.
That's how my grandma paints.
I love painting too, especially my mother who was a Cum laude in the Arts and Science University. She was the image of the art because of how she paints.
A mystical one.
I was rubbing my hair using a clean towel when suddenly my eyes caught the large painting hanged near the body-size mirror.
It was about a lady leaning on the beast's arms under the bright formed moon. Then, the memory of the man I kissed in my dream suddenly appeared.
He looks like a human but the way he cut off the head of that man was remorseless. They say it's a monster but my heart wanted to kiss his lips and embrace him.
If only it wasn't a dream. If only he was real...
"Grandma, you're still up?" I asked after closing the bathroom's door.
"You're still clingy Lesa, you really haven't changed." She kissed my forehead.
"Do you believe in mystical stories Lesa?" tanong niya habang hinahaplos ang buhok ko.
"What kind of mystical grandma? Fairies? Monsters? I don't believe those kinds of stories."
Who would believe such kind of stories?
"You haven't seen a scary creature? They're true, they're just somewhere... Hiding in between the shadows, waiting for its prey to take their bait. "
I chuckled. "Grandma, have you seen one? I will only believe such things if I could see them eye to eye."
I smiled, shaking my head with disbeliefs. I shouldn't bother myself with an old story, I wouldn't mind listening but it's hard to believe it. Especially the creature...
I shouldn't have taken a bath, I feel like I'm going to catch a cold.
My eyes darted on the canvas with unfinished painting, the part where the lady in the painting was crying in bliss.
She looks like the lady in the painting hanging in the bathroom. Her eyes were sorrowful, pail and dark.
I thought I was just hallucinating but the roof suddenly moved like it was stomp by a large elephant.
Our eyes met and I felt the sudden reminisce of the man in my dream. The same eyes with nothing but craving to kill, the same eyes whom I wanted to see.
He was the creature in my dream.
"I'm not sure, I guess so... Naligo din kase ako kagabi kaya nanginginig ang tuhod ko, " pagdadahilan ko."Sinong tanga ang maliligo sa gabi habang malamig ang panahon?" tanong ni Mom at tumayo mula sa pagkakaupo saka hinaplos ang noo ko."Look at her, you've got a fever Alessandra!" Mother was glaring at me and went to the kitchen to get a clean towel.
I stretched my arms before I yawned. I can no longer feel the heaviness of my body, ramdam ko ang pagbabalik ng lakas ko. She walked closely to me before touching my forehead and frowned. "Do you feel anything?" she asked. "I can feel your hand Mom." Napadaing ako at sumimangot, l
The house filled with silent and emptiness. No one spoke about the incident, they were just silent and worst is that Mom and Dad isn't talking with each other. Napanguso na lamang ako at ininom ang chocolate drink with marshmallows na gawa ni Dad para sa 'kin.I know it was a dangerous incident, alam kong sobra ang naging takot ni Mom nung mawala ako but it wasn't Dad's fault. I didn't wait for him kaya nawala ako sa paningin niya.Dad has his own life too, his work, and his problems kaya hindi naman pwede sa 'kin lang umikot ang mundo ni Dad.But I get it, siguro gano'n din ang magiging reaksyon ko kung alam kong nawawala ang anak ko. Dad was with me so it's obvious that Mom is angry, pero sana pag-usapan nila hindi ba?I am already fine, wala namang nangyare sa 'kin."Lesa?
I asked. He entered the kitchen before he went back to the living room with a coffee. Pinalo ko ang braso nito at sumimangot nang makita ang paghalakhak nito."I told you not to do that Dad," I said annoyingly."Magkakarayuma na ata ako Alessandra." Umakto siya na para bang nawawalan na ng abilidad sa paglakad kaya napairap ako."How are you Dad? Nag-usap na ba kayo ni Mom?" I asked. "We've talk bu
But my heart feels heavy, my emotions were sunken into the deepest part of my mind. After the confrontation with my grandma, I never saw him in my dreams again.I can't think of any reason why, but it's safer to think when he's not in my dreams. Hindi ko alam kung bakit alam ni grandma ang tungkol sakanya, there's no hint about her knowledge when it comes to him.
I sighed when I entered the dark abandoned house. There was nothing to see aside from the dirty furnitures and broken walls. Or maybe, I don't want to leave anymore because I don't want to leave him. I've been too attached with that man, the though
His hair was longer than the last time I've seen him. His eyes were on the burning furnace and intertwining his fingers while sitting on the floor. I saw how his eyes blinked while staring at the fire reflecting on his eyes. He didn't move nor did he speak. I know that this is just a dream, that this situation might just one of my expectations and that this is just one of my imaginations. But still, I wanted to burst a cry and just encircle my arms on his. "If only I wasn't weak," I said sorrowfully. "If only I didn't get sick, then you wouldn't disappear from my sight." I chuckled upon remembering how I pathetically got sick. If only it didn't happen, then I would've been feeding the goats while still living with him.
After the dryad suddenly turned into ashes, I couldn't open my eyes. "Can you still walk? Do you want to ride on me?" Kareem asked. I shook my head to disagree. "It's fine, I can still walk. You're badly wounded so I won't ride on you," I answered. He growled. "It's not like I'm a weak human like you," he arrogantly said. "I never said that you're weak, Kareem. What I'm telling is that you're wounded and it would be very hard for you to move quickly if ever I ride on your back." "I ain't dryad for nothing. You can't even open your eyes so you should at least consider riding on my back."I let out a deep sigh. "Enough with that ride and riding whatsoever you're talking about. I'm fine, I'll be able to open my eyes later.""How s
I need to make sure that the dryads aren't following us. The whole forest was dark and cold. The heavy pour of snowflakes is making us hard to run easily. "Malayo pa ba tayo?" tanong ko sakanya. "I'm not really sure, but we will arrive there before the sun sets up, you need to watch your back and yourself."Was it really that far? Thinking how we went there, naglakad lang kami ni Kareem, it doesn't look far to me. "Are you okay?" I asked worriedly. "Worry about yourself, human.""You seems to be having a hard time breathing..."Bumagal ang pagtakbo niya hanggang sa huminto kami. "Be careful, it's a cliff."A cliff?
"Stop looking at them," he whispered. The image of them seems like a replica of disaster to me. Their eyes were vividly showing me that I am their prey, that they've found me. "Sir, you need to leave the place. It seems like someone just put a bomb on your car." Lumapit sa amin ang dalawang police officer. "What do you mean? It's impossible," my dad unbelievably reacted. I don't know why but when my eyes met her eyes, the cold I felt just disappeared. It was soothing to see her worried expression as if comforting me. It's my first time seeing that expression from her. "Are you worried?" I asked. Hindi siya suma
"Would you like to witness what a dryad can do for you?"Nakapanglumbaba ako habang pinagmamasdan ang pagbagsak ng snow mula sa langit. Christmas is already coming. Three days before christmas but I feel like the whole Lake District isn't celebrating christmas but preparing for the next crime that is yet to come. A real disaster that no one will ever know how it started and when will end. "I missed him," I whispered. Are you thinking of me too? "I told you, j
The clock has been ticking repeatedly, round... and unbothered. The letters were like an open door for me to reach the end. There were lots of things I discovered, things that I didn't expect would happen to someone like my... grandma. Love, memories, love... it's all about that. There was nothing to it but a memories that has been kept inside the box for too long, memories of love that I never saw but witnessed through these letters. After the 16th letter, words became shallow and painful. "Why did you leave me?" "If loving you means killing everyone, then I would've done the same thing all over again.""My lady, I can't paint anymore.""I'll stay here on our home, I'll wait and wait and wait and wait... and wait. Until I can hold you again."
Binuksan ko ang tv at naghanap ng magagandang palabas but there was nothing good to find. The place was very familiar at doon ko lang nalaman na tungkol
"Christmas is coming," I whispered. "I don't understand why humans have so many celebrations.""Why? Nagcecelebrate din ba kayo? I can't imagine it." "We celebrate her birthday."Kumunot ang noo ko. "Who?" "The highest among us, more like a leader in humans' language. We only celebrate her birthday since she's been living for a thousand years already," he answered. Napa-wow ako dahil sa sinabi niya. "It seems like your kind really respect her.""You're wrong." Umiling siya. "There are many dryads who decided not to follow her because of many reasons. That is why, those who left weren't punish
"Gallard?" I went to him and left a small distance between us dahil baka magalit nanaman siya kapag dumikit ako sakanya. "Nagugutom ka naba? Ipagluluto kita—""Why did you save me?"Save... him? "Because you looked like you were asking for help," I answered. He tsked because of what I said to him like it was some unbelievable words he heard. "You won't even think of coming back if not for my brother," he said bitterly, not giving me a slight look. "Look, I know you hate humans becau
