CHAPTER TWO

I could feel the heart shattering pain i was feeling from the broken mate bond intensify and my head started spinning.

Alpha adrian stepped on the stage with a smug look on his face. Tears kept on rolling down my eyes as i stared at him. I didn’t know why but the thought of him choosing another person apart from me- his fated mate made me sick in my stomach.

“I would specifically like to thank alpha lucas for this incredible opportunity to be here and honor our pact.” His cold voice sent chills down my spine. “And I promise to take good care of your daughter, Stacey Grey,” he said smiling.

“I’m glad you made a great choice Alpha Adrian, the union of our packs won't only bring harmony but will bring a lot of benefits to us. You will never regret your choice.” My uncle Alpha Lucas said, beaming with smiles.

As he said that everything seemed to stop. He chose stacey over me. Of course he would choose her over me because she was an alpha not a weak omega like me.

Is this why my uncle agreed for me to come for the mating ceremony, to make me a laughing stock?

I tried hard not to burst into tears as i rushed our of the hall. I ran as fast as my legs could take me far away from the ceremony. After running for a while i stopped and pulled off my heels, as they were already hurting my feet.

I arrived at a bar and I could hear the pounding of music and people chattering. I walked towards the bar and the place was dimly lit. The stench of alcohol hit me and i had the strong urge to drown my sorrows away in alcohol.

“Give me a glass of your strongest alcohol.” I said to the bartender.

“You are a pretty lady, why do you want the strongest?” The bartender asked as his eyes raked my body.

I wore a black fitted dress which accentuated my curves well, revealing part of my chest. Although it was covered by a coat but I dumped the coat while running out of there.

“Its none of your business, just give me any please.” I pleaded in a frustrated tone, and he placed the glass before me.

“Its on the house.” He said, and i ignored him as i finished the entire content in a blink of an eye.

“Another one, i will pay for it don’t worry.” I replied, pulling out the last money i had with me from my pocked and handing it over to him. “How many more can that pay for?”

“7 more glasses.” He said with a hint of uncertainty in his tone.

He gave me all 7 glasses, i drank and continued to drink until i began to feel intoxicated.

“I will kill that man” i said groggily. “He not only rejected me, he embarrassesed me in front of the whole pack and chose my cousin stacey over me.” I said smashing the glass in my hand against the counter.

Just then i felt a chilly presence right next to me, and i looked up to see the most handsome blonde haired guy I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t quite make out his fave but i knew he was handsome.

“Hey handsome.” I said, walking to him. “I want you”

Never did i think i would approach a man like this, The alcohol made me bold. The man stared at me with an unreadable expression on his face. “What do you want from me?” He asked coldly making me pout my lips.

“Would you reject me too, the way everyone has been rejecting me? You are so full of yourself, thinking you are handsome and powerful, breaking me heart.” I frowned as I trailed ny finger down his chest.

“Be mine for tonight”

“Young lady, you are drunk, and please do not touch…” I placed a kiss on his lips shuttinf him up immediately.

“I said i want you, and I’m not joking. Make me yours.” I said.

I woke up the following morning with a banging headache, the sheets covering my body.

“What exactly happened?” I groaned as i rubbed my head trying to remember where i was and nothing came to me except a banging headache.

I looked around and realized I wasn’t in my bedroom.

“Oh my God, what did i do?” I asked and looked under the sheet covering my body and realized i was half naked in a hotel room.

I sat down trying to remember everything that happened and. Then I remember I was rejected by aloha Adrian in the mating ceremony. I remembered running off and drinking my pain away in a bar, and a blonde haired man took me to one of the bar’s hotel room.

It couldn’t be. Tears threatened to roll down my eyes as I realized I had a one-night stand with a man I didn’t know. I swore that no matter how long my mate would take to come, I will keep myself for him but I let my emotions get the best of me.

“This really cant be happening to me.” I whispered in dissapointment as i used my hands to cover my face.

If anyone found out about this, especially Alpha lucas, I would be dead and homeless in a second.

I got out of bed realizing the time and just then, a stack of cash and a note got my attention.

“You were drunk and needed a one night stand. Take this money and take care of yourself, your clothes are in the bathroom.” Was written on the note and I took the money knowing I would actually need it.

I hurriedly took a cab, dropping near the palace gate. As the guards saw me they let me in, and everyone who was working in the garden were whispering at me and staring.

“Do you know that alpha adrian rejected her last night? I really don’t know why she expected an alpha to choose someone like her.” Said a maid who was whispering to her friend. Their statement crushed my heart as I walked into the palace.

The first person i saw was Alpha lucas and Elizabeth. Before I could say a word, a glass came flying at me.

“You worthless piece of trash, where have you been? Who do you expect to serve me my morning tea, huh?” She boomed angrily.

“I’m sorry aunt, I’ve been busy in the garden since I woke up” I lied through my teeth hoping no one would see through my lies.

“It's alright Liz, don’t stress yourself too much over her. She will bring your tea right away” Alpha lucas calmed her down. This is one of the very moments alpha lucas is calm, seems like he woke up on the right side of the bed.

Weeks pass by in the blink of an eye and its the same routine all day, everyday.

Although recently I’ve been getting distracted for no reason, feeling clumsy and forgetting my orders. I’ve also been feeling quite nauseous.

I can’t remember the last time I fell sick but I guess I’m just stressed.

The work recently has been hectic and even if I fall sick I won’t get a break in this damn house.

“Alice!” I hear Stacey scream my name at the top of her voice.

“Yes?” A sigh escaped from my lips as I hear my name.

“Get yourself down here right now.” She yelled and I tried to get to her quickly.

I got to the sitting room and she was seated on Alpha Adrian's legs giggling at him. My heart broke more but I guess I’m getting used to it even though it hurts.

“Get me something to eat right now, I’m hungry” she commanded and rolled her eyes at me. Alpha Adrian looked at me with disgust too. I went to the kitchen and made what she asked of me. The food got ready and I placed the bowl right in front of them.

She pulled away from him and looked down at the bowl in disgust.

“What nonsense is this?! Were you born stupid or did you become stupid as you grow? When did I start eating fish soup, you idiot? I’m allergic to fish, you idiot.” She lifted the plate and hit me straight in the face with it.

The last thing I heard was the plate crashing down on the floor, accompanied with a loud thud and everywhere went blank.
