CHAPTER 5

ALICE POV

He glanced over to me. I couldn’t help but notice how his blue eyes seemed to pierce into my soul.

He was my one-night stand! As if he could hear my thoughts, his eyes glazed over me all of a sudden and I scurried away from him.

Thud! Thud! Thud! I could hear my heart beating fast.

He grabbed my arm, turning me around to look at me. He stared at me intensely and said “I remember you, you are the girl from the bar. I know you remember me so don’t try denying” he said in a stern voice.

Alpha Lucas stared at him in bewilderment. “You must be mistaken Beta Lucien, she’s an omega” he laughed dryly.

Beta lucien? I’ve heard that name before somewhere in the pack and it's rumored that he’s the most ruthless beta in all of North, he’s even more ruthless than the alpha of the pack.

What mess did I get myself into?

“I’m not mistaken, Alpha Lucas,” he said sharply looking at Alpha Lucas. Alpha Lucas was short of words, that was the first time I saw him quiet.

“You are pregnant, I know it's mine,” he told me.

He didn’t even give room to deny or say anything. I just stood there in shock. “Yes, I'm pregnant” I replied in a low voice.

Still holding my arm, he turned to alpha Lucas and said “I want her, I don’t have a mate and I want her to be my mate.” He said it like there was no room for argument.

“As you can see Lucien, she is a beauty and very compliant. You can only have her on one condition Beta Lucien. Your pack has some of the strongest fighters, I need some of your armies and also some land” he told Lucien.

I lowered my head and could not look him in the eye. Even though this is the father of my child, I can’t believe my uncle is so eager to trade me out. It breaks my heart but at least I’m out of this house for good.

Lucien might be a beta but he seems like a very powerful man. “Fine, consider it done,” he said to Alpha Lucas, shaking his hands. “The payment will arrive in a few days”

“My apologies….I thought we would receive it on your arrival?”

I looked at my uncle and I could tell he was getting angry. But something in him was afraid, especially when Lucien’s annoyed gaze turned to him.

He was trying to remain polite towards Beta Lucien. I couldn’t remember my uncle ever being polite.

“Yes to my pack. Are you trying to negotiate with me?” Lucien said firmly.

My uncle quickly shook his head. “No, of course not. Just a miscommunication trust me, I know how important it can be as an Alpha to make sure the deal is worth it”

“Yes, just a reminder Lucas, she is my property now. She no longer belongs to you and never will again. She will never return here, Dead or alive, she belongs to our pack”

Dead or Alive.

I looked at my uncle and his eyes flickered to me in slight hesitation before he smiled.

“That’s fine”

“We will be leaving by dawn, so get ready,'' Lucien told me in a sharp tone, leaving no room for argument. I nodded and headed to my room to pack my things. I'm finally leaving this house.

My things were packed and ready, so we got to the car. One step, two steps….I moved towards their car. But with every step I took, I became more scared and uncertain about my future.

The ride to the pack was a bit awkward but thankfully was silent because I didn’t feel like talking at the moment.

“What were you doing at the bar on that day?” Lucien asked without glancing at me. I stayed quiet for a minute deciding if I should tell the truth or lie to him, I decided to go with the former.

“Something happened that’s why,” I replied vaguely staring out the window.

“When I want you to speak I expect you to look at me and answer my questions,” Lucien said in a cold voice that made me tremble. At that moment I knew he was being “kind” to me. If it was any other person, he would have killed them.

“My mate rejected me because I'm an omega and chose my cousin.” I sighed staring at him.

He nodded his head and turned back to face the road and the ride continued in silence.

We arrived at the hallowed pack and got to the packhouse. “Welcome to my pack, Alice,” Lucien announced before we came down from the car and headed inside the house.

The moment we stepped foot into the house, it became eerily quiet. The guards and the servants had their eyes cast to the floor, a show of submission.

“Stella,” he called out one if the servants and a young girl came forward.

“Yes Beta,” she respond with her head bowed.

“Take her to her room and call the doctor to check the baby, “ he ordered before storming upstairs without giving me a word.
