Chapter 13

The loud ringing of the alarm clock beside her bed side woke Scarlet up. She looked around in fright, rubbing her eyes so hard. She looked out of the window . It was pitch dark outside. The trees trembled and the wind howled. The atmosphere felt eerie as birds chirped loudly, flapping their wings noisily.

Scarlet slipped into her footwear and walked gently to the kitchen.

“Lyssa didn't cook anything.” She said, closing the empty cupboard and reclining with her back on the kitchen table. She looked around, with her arms folded.

“I'm so hungry, what do I eat?” She pulled out a packet of cereal from underneath the table and took a mug of milk from the fridge. Scooping the quick meal she had just made into her mouth, she went into deep thoughts.

“You are up so early!” Scarlet was startled seeing her sister at that time of the night in the kitchen.

“You startled me Lyssa. Why aren't you sleeping.”, Scarlet gave her a stare showing her surprise, “And why do you have that mask on your face
