Bryan's POV

My legs grew weak as I took in the chairman’s words which reverberated in my ears over and over again.

“We need a miracle, Bryan. We really do.” The chairman added as his eyes burdened with grief fell to the floor.

My body frozen as the coldness of the truth sank in,

My legs finally gave way to the shock and fear surging through my veins as I sank into the seat behind me, the impact jarring me.

“A miracle,” I repeated to myself, my voice hushed and almost inaudible as I spoke, my mind swirling with confusion and disbelief.

Lifting up my heavied head, I focused my gaze on the Chairman again. “How did we get here? What really happened?”

“We made a bad investment in a stock that looked good and was fast growing.” The chairman explained, his tone low and soft as he spoke. “We needed the returns for the orphanage project your grandfather was working on before he passed on.”

“He knew about this?” I asked, my voice revealing the surprise in its tone.
