Chapter 65

Cassandra's POV

I stood silent for a while before Emelda, my expression unfriendly as I scanned to check if she was alone.

The tension between us mounted as Emelda too stared back with unspoken words. Her expression morphed from one of shock which it had earlier when I collided with her to one of sternness as she looked at the one who had bumped into her–me.

“Excuse me, but do you mind watching where you're going?" Emelda finally spoke, her expressions neutral.

My face hardened as I took in Emelda's stern tone, my own temper rising as I felt insulted.

"Hey! Better watch it? Don't act so high and mighty, when you are nothing near to high or mighty. Maybe you should have moved when you saw me coming instead of standing in the way like a stupid traffic cone." I snarled, my voice cold and scathing as I rolled my eyes.

Emelda's eyes narrowed almost simultaneously at me too, biting response, her own irritation rose to meet mine as she retorted, her voice low and razor-sharp.
