Author's Note.
Hello dear reader, Favour here, the author of My Unlovable Boss.I'd like to start by thanking every single one of you who gave my story a chance. It means the world to me to know there are people out there who read my story. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing and more.
Feedback, likes, comments, shares and story ratings are very much appreciated! I'd love to read your thoughts and communicate with you all through comments so don't be shy. I am quite eager to interact with you all!
I have been on a year hiatus and in my time away a lot happened that forced me to put the story on hold but I am happy to share the news of my return with you all. I can't wait to release new chapters and complete the story as well, it's about time after all.
I will be making a few changes such as the names of the characters (save for the Main Female Lead) and the location of the story. There are many new chapters included in the start as well and a lot of grammatical errors have been fixed.
I encourage you all to have a reread of the story, I promise it's not what it used to be and even more delightful, don't take my word for it though. Read it yourself and testify. I am always open to constructive criticism so please don't hold back on giving some.
However, I have zero tolerance for hate speech so if my story doesn't work for you please kindly stop reading. Being hateful helps neither you nor me and brings my morals down a lot. Thank you.
If you made it this far, I appreciate you! Here's a little bit about myself. my name is Favour. I am a 21-year-old medical student in my 2nd year. I love reading novels and WEBTOONs, I enjoy watching anime and Korean dramas too. I am a big fan of K-pop and my favourite YouTubers are the Sturniolo Triplets.
Thank you for reading this far. I want to reward those who made it this far-- comment your favourite movie of all time. I'll be watching!
This way you also get the chance to learn more about them and have the choice to learn more about their story of your own volition. I can't express how happy I'll be when people pay to continue with the story.
Currently, I have 2.2k reads! Super excited to see how much we'll grow from here on out.

Although she might never know I did since she’s not one to read books, especially ones as long as this. Angel, if you’re reading this by chance, thank you for pushing and supporting me daily. You were there to motivate and inspire me several times in the journey of this story. My Unlovable Boss exists today only because of your ceaseless nagging, and I appreciate it more than you will ever know.
I also want to thank my mum for giving me the drive and emotional support I needed as I wrote as well as my closest friend, Dozie. Thank you for supporting me through my saddest, most challenging, happiest, funniest and most irking moments, I love you. To the others who could not be mentioned and the readers, I say a big, big, BIG thank you. My Unlovable Boss is my first romance novel and my second written novel. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did when creating it.

Lie Blu Apartment.Third Person POV.“What would it take to convince you to go out with me tonight?” Aaliyah groaned, watching her best friend, Matilda, type away tirelessly at her computer. Matilda’s long light brown hair was messily piled on top of her head in a bun. “Hellooo?” Aaliyah whined, desperation creeping into her voice.Matilda pushed her round glasses up her straight nose and bit her pink lips in concentration, her brown eyes glued to her MacBook, ignoring Aaliyah’s pleas.“Earth to Mal! Do you hear me?” Aaliyah waved her arms dramatically in front of Matilda’s face, but received no response. She knew if she didn’t intervene, her friend would be glued to that screen all weekend.“I’m sure we can go another day, Aly,” Matilda finally replied, her gaze never leaving the screen. As much as she loved spending time with her best friend, she was too comfortable in her sweatpants and tee to consider getting dressed up tonight.“Wow! A response!” Aaliyah shot back, sitting up str
Lie Blu Apartment.Matilda’s POV.Regret has always been inevitable. At some point in our lives, we all face it. Right now, I'm drowning in a heavy tide of it. I press my hands against my head, letting out a raspy cry as my veins throb painfully. It feels as if my skull might shatter, while my conscience angrily scolds me for putting myself through this torment. This is exactly why I didn't want to go out last night.Sunlight streams through the curtains, but it offers no solace—only harsh reminders of my misery. My stomach churns with a burning sensation, and my throat feels drier than the Sahara, begging desperately for water. I moan in agony, curling into a ball as pain radiates from my waist up to my neck. What happened last night? Why can’t I remember anything? Did I black out? How on earth did I even get home?My mind buzzes with a thousand questions, each one amplifying my discomfort. Something must possess me to drink so much; I only ever black out when I overindulge. After wh
Willow Incorporated HQ.Third Person POV.Matilda adjusts Chairman Willow’s tie, her fingers smoothing the fabric as she gives him a quick once-over. His grey eyes meet hers with a calm intensity, reflecting his patient demeanour. His silver hair, neatly combed back, has a few rebellious strands she promptly tucks behind his ear.Despite the stern mask he wears, the laugh lines etched into his handsome, aged face hint at a life full of joy. Clad in a tailored black tuxedo that fits perfectly, he radiates authority.Stepping back, Matilda gives him a small, admiring smile. “You’re all set, Chairman Willow.” She raises a thumb, her smile betraying a hint of nervousness. With a deep exhale, Chairman Willow strides into the boardroom, Matilda close behind. The executives and top shareholders rise to greet him. “I’m glad we could all make it to this impromptu meeting,” he announces, settling into his seat. The others follow suit. Matilda positions herself a few steps behind him, feeling the
Willow Inc. HQ.Matilda’s POV.With a surge of will, I manage to pull myself up and grab my phone. My hands tremble as I dial the emergency line but quickly end the call. There are too many rumours swirling around for an ambulance to arrive without drawing unwanted attention.Instead, I decided to call Liam, Chairman Willow's personal assistant. If anyone knows what to do, it’s him. He picks up on the first ring, and I silently thank God for that.“Liam… Please help. I—I don’t know what to do.” I sob, my words tumbling out in a frantic rush. “The C-chairman h-he…”“Miss Matilda? Slow down so I can understand you. What’s wrong?” His baritone voice is steady, almost devoid of emotion.I take a few deep breaths, trying to steady my racing heart. A breakdown right now won’t help the Chairman. “It’s Chairman Willow. He was about to leave the meeting room but lost consciousness,” I managed to explain, forcing clarity into my shaky voice.“Stay right there. Don’t call anyone else. I’ll be rig
Lie Blu Apartment.Matilda’s POV.The shrill blast of my alarm jolts me from sleep, its invasive beeping echoing through my still-dark apartment. Groggy and disoriented, I swipe at the snooze button, my hand slamming down harder than intended.“Ouch!” I yelp, a sharp pain shooting through my palm. Rubbing the sore spot, I grumble, “Stupid alarm clock,” and squint at the piercing light filtering through the curtains.Just yesterday, the Chairman dropped a bombshell on me—he’s terminally ill. It feels surreal to wake up annoyed at an alarm clock when soon, someone out there might not need one at all.Dragging myself out of bed, a heavy weight settles in my chest. Life’s unpredictability makes me ponder: If I had limited time left, what would I do differently? The warm water of the shower cascades over me, but it can’t wash away the chill of that thought.Have I truly lived a happy life?Sure, I have a decent job, a roof over my head, and just enough savings for the occasional getaway. House Of Willow.Matilda’s POV."I was able to dissuade the shareholders from holding the meeting," Liam reports, standing tall beside Chairman Willow. "I informed them of your absence, and while they agreed to reschedule, their displeasure was evident. The reporters are still staked outside, but they'll have to leave in due time."He exhales deeply, the weight of the moment pressing against him. "Thank you, Liam. Your assistance is invaluable.""It's no problem, sir. The least I can do is perform my job well." His gaze drifts toward me, a flicker of accusation unspoken in his eyes.I bite back a retort, feeling the sting of his accusatory tone. Thankfully, since leaving the office, the anxiety that once swelled within me has dissipated, and my head feels clearer."I understand how this looks and why you'd assume I did my work poorly," I say, my voice steady. I pause, locking eyes with Liam for a second before turning back to Chairman Willow. "But this is not my doing, sir."He turns h

HQ.Third Person POV.A black Bentley slows to a stop in front of the company building. Outside, a wall of reporters from prominent media outlets presses forward, cameras flashing in a dizzying blur. They shout over one another, bombarding the car with questions and snapping endless photos, while the security team struggles to hold them back.Inside the car, Alaric sits silently, his gaze narrowing as he watches the spectacle unfold. He’s been photographed in secret before, but never has he been the focal point of such relentless scrutiny. These are the people fueling every lie, he thinks, jaw tightening as he reaches for the door handle, eager to escape the stifling car ride he endures beside his father. Usually, Javier drives him, but his father insists they arrive together to “make an impressio
Willow Inc. HQ.Alaric’s POV.“We suspected there were moles in the company, so we launched an investigation to root them out along with their employer. I won’t disclose names, but one of them eventually confessed and implicated their partner. It turns out she was promised promotions and protection but ended up with nothing to show for it,” I say, holding the board members’ intent gazes.“And the article?” Mrs. Lionheart’s tone is firm, expectant.“We managed to speak with the reporter.” I gesture to Javier, who promptly plays the recording of our conversation with the journalist.A defensive, tremulous voice fills the room. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Can I go back to work now?”“Sir, trust me. We’re not here to hurt you. Just tell the truth, and we’ll let this slide,” Liam coaxes, his tone as smooth as silk.“So... I’d be off the hook?” The voice wavers, unsure.“Completely. You have my word,” Liam reassures him. There’s a pause, followed by sounds of rummaging, and the
