Chapter 1
Birthday Night “Just abort it!” His cold voice brought me to my knees. “I can’t do this, you promised to marry me, Damien. Look! I still have the promise ring on.” I cried, as I held his right leg pleading for the mercies of my last hope to be married, “I am only a student but I can keep this pregnancy if you accept to be the daddy of this baby in my womb.” I kept crying and my voice faded in the process, yet he wasn’t ready to accept it. He was still on his sword-cutting words which stabbed my heart. “It was just a one-night stand, I put the ring on your silly finger because I didn't know what I was doing; girl! It was a mistake!” he forcefully pulled the ring from my finger and tossed it through his window, “take this $50,000 and abort it. I will pay the doctor; this money is yours.” Abortion!? I have known it would be detrimental to my health. After my last accident, I was told I can either give birth to just a kid or none but I couldn’t tell him this! What would he take me for, a sickly girl or a misfortune? ***** Three weeks earlier. It was my eighteenth birthday when my friends decided to spoil me at the DAME NIGHT CLUB. The club belonged to a rich and famous billionaire who owned multiple business companies. It was such an amazing day to meet him there—surprisingly. People say he was not friendly, cold, and mean. When I saw him approaching the table we had reserved, “This table is specially reserved for my birthday, Sir.” I intentionally told him so that he would notice it was my birthday. He stood still and looked at me while my friends rushed to him to take photos with him, “Excuse me, I entreat y'all to delete those pictures.” He warned my friends and turned to me, “Whose birthday is it?” he smirked and tucked his python-designed suit. The whole room became silent, as the DJ paused his music making the club more tense and cold. Did I say something wrong? Although it was night, he was shining among other men in the club. Very handsome and catchy. Looking down at his flap made me want to have my first sex as his boner was printed in his pants! “Can I join your birthday?” He asked…his hands now in his pockets as he waited for feedback. My friends loosened their jaws, as their faces dim. “YES!” I screamed. I knew my birthday was the happiest and luckiest in the world, my friends, some were jealous and others pretended to be happy. After we had enough drinks and danced for a while, we got into a convo. I could not resist touching his face to see if he was a real person because he was extremely handsome. When time was up for us to leave and he got up, I clutched to the arm of his suit and pulled him back. I was so drunk but I could remember one or two things I probably did. I forced myself up, and nearly fell… I remember I fell on his broad chest and heard his heart beat as his voice echoed in his chest, “Would you want to spend a night with me?” he asked. Who in this world would turn down such an offer? No one, maybe there could be someone but to me, this was my luckiest moment. My friends had already left, leaving only one, Sandra. She looked at me and shook her head, “this is not a good idea.” She warned. “I will be fine, Sandra...yes…he will take good care of me!!” I gave her a sign and followed Damien to his house. The next day, I woke up naked under a red blanket. I lifted it up and figured we had fucked! “Demn it!” I slapped my face and yelled, “how could I have missed such a moment!” When I pulled the blanked, I realized breakfast had been served which I nearly spilled. I ate it and left his house since he wasn’t around and I had a quiz to write. A week later, I went to his house again and this time he was around, he came out from his room and out of the blues— he pushed a gold ring on my finger, “Sorry for what happened last week, I didn’t know it was your first time having sex. But let me surprise you. I love you and want to marry you.” “Umm, where did you go? I didn’t see you when I woke up.” that was all I could ask as the rest of my questions remained in my dome. “Yeah, you know? Business and stuff.” “Can we do it again? I was drunk and didn’t feel anything.” “I have things to do now, maybe another time.” After some talks, I went back to school. While In school, I felt a sudden change in my body and figured I was pregnant upon several tests. End of Flashback ******* “You were not drunk, Damien. You shoved this ring on my finger a week after the sex. With your clear eyes and intentions, promising to make me your wife.” I could do nothing, but only rain tears and give him flashbacks. “Look, maybe you used a spell on me. I made a mistake having sex with you and promising to marry you.” He roared and grabbed my hair. I didn’t feel that pain. The only thing I felt at that moment was aborting the pregnancy, “The truth is, my beautiful and rich ex-girlfriend is coming back to me. I cannot and never choose you over her. Look at you. Do you deserve a man like me? NO!” His words pierced me like an arrow. Maybe the arrow of a demonic cupid. Yeah if there is a cupid of love, then there could be one for hatred. “Forget about marrying me, please. I know you deserve someone better than me, Handsome Damien,” I shrieked, hiding the truth behind my fears. “Oh, I see. You tricked me to think you lost your virginity to me, but I guess someone impregnated you. You discovered I am rich and want to make me the father? You had the wrong guy, seriously had the wrong guy.” How could he say such a thing? They say he is rude, wicked, and all that and think all were true. He was a devil himself. Wished I could tell him in his face, but right now, I needed something from him. Why would I beg him to accept something he implanted in me by himself? I knew perfectly that I had never had sex and he was my first try. “No, Damien, you did this to me. I don’t want marriage.” “Then leave me alone!” “No, I want you to be the father of this baby in my womb. Accept to be their daddy, please.” I kept pleading, crying, and giving him the opportunity to marry his ex-girlfriend and accept to be responsible for my pregnancy, yet he wasn’t ready. He kept pushing me out of his life. If I don’t get him to accept this, that may end my education and dream. “Just leave, my girlfriend would come here in no time!” he yelled at me and walked to rest on his big sofa. He inserted a bar of his big brown cigar between his lips and ignored me, “Do you want my security to throw you out like a piece of nuts?” “Maybe, another day would be a better day if I try again,” I thought to myself and decided to walk out of his house. “Don’t come here until you accept to abort that thing germinating in you.” He warned me and asked his security to throw me out, although I had already set off leaving his money behind. Walking down the road, I realized I was being followed as well by a black BMW as well. Who could that be and why was it following me? I began to increase my speed and use the road down the bridge. Then a man also got down in his black long coat and also run after after me yelling, “Hey, don’t run else I will hurt you!”Chapter 2 Going Back to His HouseAs I run and looked back, I realized he stopped at once as he looked at me. A white car was approaching from my front, “The police!” I run to them and when I was about reporting, he took to his heels. I reached my hostel still crying and broken like a jailbird and thinking about all that had happened that day. I felt that I was in danger. My only hope was shuttering before me. I needed to act wisely as well. Either to abort the pregnancy and school or keep it and leave school. I sunk myself in my bed and wept as loudly as I could. Food? I had not taken even a drop of water that day.Sandra, my roommate asked and asked but I didn’t mind her. I dashed my hand under my pillow, drew the test tube I had used earlier out, and gave it to her to check for herself, “I am pregnant Sandra, I am f*cking pregnant!” I yelled, opening my mouth wide to let out some pain, yet it didn’t work as easily as I thought it would. The pain still lingered in my bones.“Who
Chapter 3 – On The Run“Don’t do it, Rose Sinclair!” Sandra boldly prompted, but I had no other choice than to do it. “Take her out of here,” Angela Lopez ordered for my friend to be taken out. Our plan earlier was to meet Damien Anderson and not his mother. It looked like she was more wicked than her son. She treated us like unwanted branches of a sick tree. “Let her go!” with an untraceable sharpness, I signed the document, “I signed it, just leave her alone!” I cried, but it seems my words hit on deaf ears as the fat guy dragged her outside. “With the same effort, I dragged this lady into the car. We are going to the hospital to get this pregnancy aborted!” Angela commanded the fat man again. He worked like a robot as he had no pity for me. “Damien Anderson,” I called, he gave me his back as I got closer to the door, “is this what it's supposed to be?” The man dragged me into a car. Sandra was not nowhere to be found on the compound, maybe they sent her back to school.
Chapter 4 – The Woman I Have Become I climbed a tree, tied the rope around my neck, and jumped but I rested in a man’s arms. He nippily cut the rope with a knife he was holding. I could not see anything again since I was worn out. The man in whose arm I was saved was unknown until the next morning. “Rose.” He called, “You stupidly wanted to leave me alone?'' It was Mike's voice, a neighbor's squeamish son who suffered lung disease. We lived for almost sixteen years, then he left for Europe. I didn't know he was even back until he saved me. “I don't have any option, Mark.” All this while, what I did best was cry and shed pools of tears. After staying about a week with him, he asked me to go live with a family friend because he was going back to Europe to check on his health, and wouldn’t return anytime soon. But I still couldn't believe that my father who loved me could throw me out just like that so I went back to him. From his actions, and how he was packing up, I knew he was back
