Prologue
My name is Elena Rouge…I am an ordinary woman, what people don’t know about me is who truly I am…They think that I am a reserved woman, a little bit shy or awkward…some people think about it but I always sneer at them and try to shut their underestimate stare at me down with ‘whatever you think...’. They never thought that they would ever find me clubbing or partying at night…but they never knew who would be my next target (laughing inside). I was a professional killer…not a bloody killer but I did reveal what people think their hidden secrets were safe…whenever my boss asked me to do some orders that he got from his clients…The public will make a silent murder to all of my targets (smiling on her lips) but ordinary people think I am a common woman who is desperately lonely and avoids any bigger social life…I am glad that they think like that… “Elena?” A guy with glasses and beautiful green eyes stood in her sight. His index was pointing at her then, he turned his finger to him. “Remember me?” They were standing on the pavement of the sidewalk. Some people were rushing to go to work and some of them were walking to have sightseeing at the food court area nearby their place. She widened her eyes. “Martinez?” She tried to guess and her lips shaped a wide smile. “Yes, I spilled out your coffee when I bumped you…” That young man shrugged and looked around him. “That day.” He inhaled and drew a clumsy smile as he took a glance at the woman who was standing in his sight, with her ankle-high boots, a loose sweater with a leopard motif scarf on her neck, and a pair of old jeans. “Can I buy you coffee?” He bit his lips and his green eyes were staring at Elena. He sniffed and fixed his glasses. He seemed to be a little at the edge. She nodded her head. “Great. How about over there? Aren’t you busy?” He took a long deep inhale as he found Elena accepting his offer. The young woman wobbled her head and said, “Lucky me so, I am out to grab some coffee.” She chuckled and Martinez, the young man, imitated her action. He giggled and looked at his ‘butterfly in his stomach’ state to ease gradually. “So, how is the dog that you saved when…?” Elena paused her sentence; a pair of her onyx eyes turned its direction from the pavement of the sidewalk where they were walking onto Martinez’s face. “When I bumped you that day?” Martinez squinted his eyes and made Elena deliver him her sweet smile that Martinez remembered since that day. “Yeah…you say that you needed to save the dog’s life because it was hit by a motorcycle,” Elena tried to avoid Martinez’s piercing stare at her as she looked down to their steps. ‘Nice branded sneakers, Martinez!’ She folded her two arms and stroked some of the hair strands that were blown by the breeze. Martinez inhaled. “She’s safe but the hit made her some fractures on her right bone leg.” “Really? Oh, poor girl!” Elena paused her steps and gasped as she felt pity for the dog. “But she’s okay and getting better!” Martinez smiled and they continued their walk on the sidewalk. They stopped at a coffee station on the sidewalk and there were two people before they queued. “Were you walking for work on that day?” Martinez twitched one of his legs, he looked at Elena before putting his sight on the ground. “Yeah. How about you?” Elena wiped her nose and glanced at Martinez. His wavy berry-coloured hair was messed by the wind. Martinez stroked his fingers into his hair. “Yes, I am a vet assistant. I am working for an animal clinic. How about you?” They stepped forward as the first person had got his takeaway order. “I am working at a restaurant. As a washing dish person…” Elena answered and looked at Martinez slightly. Martinez nodded his head and there was no change in his facial expression. “You are working in a shift?” Elena inhaled. “Yes. Sometimes with some extra hours. To get some extra tips.” The second person left the queue as she had grabbed her orders. She took a glimpse at both Martinez and Elena as she slid her body to move from the queue and walk away. Elena looked at the woman’s back. ‘I think she’s from upper middle class. Her shoes I know the brand. It costs hundreds. Hmm…’ “What coffee, Elena?” Martinez startled her. “Cappuccino, latte, black coffee or espresso?” “Oh…Latte, no sugar, crème with some ice.” Elena smiled and she saw Martinez smirking at her. “Any toppings?” Martinez put his two hands into his jean’s pockets. “Brown sugar powder, if there’s any…” Elena stopped and giggled, “Don’t make me sound like a complaint customer! Gosh…” She covered her mouth with her backhand at the time she giggled. Martinez glanced at her and grinned. “One of the nightmares that often show up in your restaurant?” Elena pulled her backhand from covering her mouth. “Not to me. But some of my friends that work for waiters said that they kind of customers…hmm…you know, they’re mean for tips.” She giggled again as Martinez smiled widely. Martinez ordered their coffee and they waited for several minutes to get their coffee. “So, are you walking to work?” Martinez handed her coffee after he paid their orders. He sipped his coffee and glanced at Elena. “Yeah. I am waiting for my bus. I have plenty of time. How about you?” Elena sipped her latte coffee; she wiped some crème that stained on her lip with her fingers. “My bad. I have nothing much left to spend this coffee with you. Although I’ll be glad to have it…” Martinez rubbed his right temple after he took a glimpse of his watch. Elena jiggled her head and smiled. ‘Why my instinct said that you are not an ordinary person who working as a vet assistant, Martinez. Your sneakers’ brand name and the watch that you are wearing sound loud to me about you.’ Elena stared at Martinez and sipped her coffee. “Did you give the dog a name?” She asked Martinez. “Yeah. I named her ‘Fortune’, as she could survive the accident!” Martinez sipped his coffee. He turned his eyes to the crowd, people who were passing them by. Martinez sounded so puffing. “Can I see you again?” He handed his old version of the mobile phone to Elena. “Please, give me your number…” Elena smiled and took his mobile phone to type her mobile phone number. “That’s my number. Perhaps, I won’t be able to answer your call so you should message me.” Martinez squinted his eyes and frowned his lips. “You’re so vain…” He tried to make a joke and Elena chuckled. “No, I’m just…” She moved her fingers in the air. “I know. It’s because your shifting hours sometimes ruin your dating schedule…” Martinez beamed. Elena shrugged. “Perhaps.” Martinez wiped his nose. He whispered in Elena’s ear. “I need to go now. Please, answer my call or reply to my messages, okay?” He smiled at Elena since he found that Elena’s pupils dilated and she was surprised with what he did.Elena strode her steps to the elevator and she pushed the button number five. She was the only person who that elevator directly and privately taking her to the fifth floor of that skyscraper building. The elevator door slid open and the company tag on the glass window stand with some classy mosaic ornaments but esthetical captured her eyes, ‘Rage and Fame’ agency. She pushed the door of the office and looked around where some beautiful girls and chic men were taking part in some photo sessions. Some of them were waiting for the audition shot. She saw Johny, her boss, sitting on a long sofa with Jeanette, a senior manager for the agency and one of the other women who liked to stare at her with squinting eyes from her head to toes, for any perspectives of fashion that Jeanette could draw, from Elena’s taste in fashion. The best that Elena could do to respond to it, was just to walk away and ignore their perspectives on Elena’s fashion taste or style since those perspectives sounded
“That’s James Stone, Mr. Edward!” Bernard whispered in Edward Phillipe’s ear. They were coming into the lounge hall where there were two men seemed to have waited for them both. Both Edward and Bernard were walking to the lounge hall of a hotel where James Stone and his marketing team were shooting for their new product launch, snacks for snacking time for the teenagers. Edward glanced at the banner that the marketing span at the corner of the hall, ‘a crunchy, healthy, fast satiating with affordable price to reduce your consumptive number of calories’ was the voice of the marketing banner they spanned along the hall. He snorted and covered his mouth with his backhand as he cleared his throat. The man with some blink-blink accessories was sitting on the couch, his fashion reminded Edward of a rapper singer with some white luxurious golden accessories, he had strawberry-coloured hair with some shaggy cut medium length for guys and the other young man with blonde coloured hair was wear
They arrived at the farming factory nearly lunchtime, one of the giant enterprises that Edward Phillipe managed. Edward came out from the car and he continued his steps to the factory’s canteen. “Lorraine and Hudson, it’s nearly lunchtime. You can back to the office, I and Bernard will stay overnight at this place. But before you leave, you can enjoy lunchtime and have a good meal in the factory’s canteen. Will you?” Edward stopped his steps and turned his back around to Lorraine, a woman who always accommodated his personal needs in daily activities as the owner of two giant businesses. The mid-forties in age woman had been working for Edward since he started his enterprise from zero, fifteen years before he got his grandparent’s inheritance of giant enterprises. Meanwhile, Hudson had worked for him as a personal driver for almost ten years. “How about tonight, Mr. Edward?” Lorraine looked at Edward. “I’m free tonight. I don’t have to come to any ceremonies or dinner invitations
"Tell me, how long have you been working for the Healthies90?" Bernard beamed at Clara after pouring the second glass of wine for the young woman. Clara bit her lower lip and peeked at Bernard. Bernard inhaled and sipped his wine as he ran his thought. 'Mr. Edward was right that this girl has thoughtful mind. I could see from her stare. I must anticipate her tricky minds with combination of her attractive attitudes.' "Five years." Clara sipped her wine. Her red lipstick remained on the tip of the glass as she silently rubbed it off with her thumb. The way she licked the remains of the wine on her lips looked so elegant but at the same point, what she did could emanate his imagination how naughty and wild she would be. Bernard rested his chin on his clenching fist and beamed at her. "Not surprisingly as I could figure out from your sparkling eyes talk anything about you..." He shook the glass in his hand and stirred the wine slowly. "James certainly figure out how potential you are
"Are you with her right now?" Edward Phillipe rose from his seat and walked to the porch. He glanced at his grandpa, Louis Phillipe who was on the wheelchair and accompanied by a personal nurse that Edward hired to take care his grandpa 24/7 while he was busy to manage his business. He kept his space in a few edges from them while he was on phone with Bernard. "Yes, Mr. Edward. I drove her to stay in the motel. She fell asleep before telling me where she's living." Edward bit his lips. "You sprayed her with the magic liquid that Ruth invented?" He dilated his pupils as he felt surprised and curious at the same time. He giggled as he covered his mouth with a hand. "My Gosh, make sure whether she fainted because of its smell or fell asleep, Bernard!" "I will, Mr. Edward. It seems that she fainted..." Bernard inhaled. He rested the face of Clara to the other side. He leaned her head on the opposite side from his driving position carefully as he intended not to awake her unintentional
"May I know the reason behind your decision to sell your car?" Johny looked at Elena with his eyes full of concern. Elena stopped munching her dinner meal and sipped her chocolate shake to clear her throat. "I need to pay for my tuition fees and my mom's expenses, Boss!" Johny inhaled. "Just call me by my name." He stirred his cappuccino and the way he moved the spoon, Elena knew that man was thinking."When will you start doing the assignment so?" Elena gulped. "As soon as I finish gathering any information about Fred Tiger." She wiped her lips with a serviette. "He seems enjoying some outdoor activities like rowing, rock climbing and hiking. I consider to choose that way as approach methods to him." Johny sighed and sipped his coffee. "I'll send you Angelo to join with you." Elena stared at him while she munched her last bite of a beef burger. "I'll send you sixty percent of your salary for this assignment. I hope you can find another car to make your day easier. Angelo will t
"I can't swim..." Elena confessed and turned down her eyes to her lap. She bit her lower lip. Angelo squeezed his eyes. He seemed not believe his ears with what the girl just said. 'She looks tough but can't swim?' Angelo was laughing inside as he skimmed of her for a moment. "Okay." He beamed after clearing his throat. There was a shadow of pause in a short moment. "I heard this guy loves to do some outdoor activities. So, are you going to follow one of his outdoor activities?" Elena sighed. "He's going to go rowing this weekend." Angelo jiggled his head. "Tell me what you have learned about this guy, Fred Tiger--" He took a short look at Elena who seemed to be uneasy. "Hey, relax. We are going to be a team. We should support each other." Angelo tapped his fingers on the steer, his other hand reached for the car audio and he switched the music into some blues as Elena assumed. "You like it?" Elena shrugged. "I am not into music so much, but some jazz I probably listen before
“Elena kept moving. Don’t get panicked and grab something. Pull over, Elena!” She heard Angelo’s voice to give some directions. The life jacket she wearing made her floating her up from the current. Elena found her sight getting distorted. The water streams hit her face hard as she tried to emerge her head up on the surface. “There’s something entangled my left ankle!” She turned her head to Angelo and kept trying to pull her head up from the surface to get oxygen. She began blurping. Suddenly, Elena felt something was bumping her head. Hitting her hard although a helmet protected her, that bump dragged her within the water streams. She saw a big trunk passing her and she tried to grab it. The water streamed harder, bent over between the rocky river and the streams drifted her within. Elena was pushed into currents and dragged her to hit a boulder. Leaving everything looked black in her vision and she felt numb as she fainted. Angelo dived into the water and approached
Edward looked so coming into his edge as Elena came out from the house. He exhaled, he felt some butterflies were dancing in his stomach.Granny looked at him and gave him a support as she rubbed his back warmly. Grandpa and his dad were attending and talking with Emir Drake. Curtis Falcon was there with his wife, after he spent a long haul of finding out Dante’s manipulative games that he wasn’t the father of the child his mistress had. He was glad that his wife could carry his seed eventually, though it was a long process of advance medical technology, what people called In vitro fertilization.Bernard patted his arm and whispered in his ear. “She looks pretty, Boss.”At the moment, Elena wore a floral dress with her braided hair decorated by some flowers. Edward was wrapped in his black suits and they were holding each other hands. They were going to announce their engagement.Edward sighed as he put a diamond ring on Elena’s finger.Jane Dovey was watching the moment. Sh
Edward dragged the chair, he gave Belinda Jay a space to sit on it.They met at a resort as Belinda arranged for them. It was a place with a quiet but beautiful white sand beach.“You look wonderful.” He smiled and seated himself in front of her. They were going to have a dinner at restaurant belonged to the resort.Belinda smiled, she swayed her hand. “Thank you.” She looked around and saw a waiter coming to approach their table. He served their order and poured the best wine into their glasses.Edward sighed and grinned clumsily. They had dinner and Belinda looked so excited as Edward asked her to take a fresh air after they finished having dinner.“I think the night is amazing.” Belinda tilted her head, she watched the sky and inhaled. The night breezes blew quite chilling. Belinda looked quite shivering as she was wearing a night dress quite sheer with the black color.Edward inhaled. “Yeah.” He crossed his arms.Belinda beamed and stared at him before she leaned her on
Edward stared at Elena, they spent two hours or more in talking about the execution plan.“You said before on the phone, there will be a compensation I should pay?” He took another cracker from the table. He turned his head around and watched the back of Angelo as the man was leaving. He and Elena were sitting along the table, enjoying their drink and the scenery.Elena sighed. “Yes.” Edward put a smug grin. “What kind of compensation you want from me?”Elena sighed. “Listen, it’s gonna to help someone’s business. He got his business facing, we could say…business has been lame and he needs some investments.”Edward looked like he was curious. “Could you tell me who he is?”“He’s the person I am working with,” Elena sighed and looked into his eyes. “His name?” Edward rubbed his nose and rested his jaw in a hand.“Johnny Sly, he’s the owner of…” Elena couldn’t finish her words.“I know Johnny Sly is…” he interrupted and clenched his jaws then. They were silent…each of them
Edward approached the table. Elena and Angelo had waited for him there. It was a private location Angelo had arranged for them to talk about the plan. The place was near the mountains area and it was a villa with a wonderful background. That morning, they were sitting around a large wooden table, surrounded by shady trees as the backyard was built on a hill. The mountain breezes blew quite chilling, the sound of rustling from the leaves could be an incomparable sounds of nature. “Am I the target?” Edward pointed at himself after Elena explained what happened to him and the target of the assignment. He came at the meeting with casual outfits, t-shirt and an old pair of jeans. He smelled like nature with the scent of musk combined with citrus.Elena nodded to affirm about it. He scoffed and rested his back to lean towards the seat.“Since you are the only man Emma Smithson can count on and you will be willingly to help her. With every capacity you can give it to her…” Angelo add
Elena parked her car and came out to enter Johnny’s office. She took a glimpse of her watch, it was 09.30 in the morning. She looked at her projection as she entered the elevator. Her new haircut was amazing with some layers, she got extended hair to make it longer than it was before. She put some additional moisturizer lip balm and moved her lips to moisturize.‘She really has a good taste in fashion…’ Elena grinned as she reminded her mother, Jane Dovey. As she came out from the elevator, every eyes were staring at her and turning their heads around at her. She wore a medium skirt combined with a pair of high heels in brown honey color. A classic but chic green apple upper outfits and a tote bag were her partners in fashion that morning.Johnny was talking with Jeanette when she popped up.Jeanette gasped as she gazed at Elena. She beamed and started to become more friendly than she was before. “My dear, you look so gorgeous.” She turned her head around and was scanning Elena
Jane put a smile on her face, her two arms were opened widely as she approached the man.“Sweet heart, I am sorry to make you waiting…”The man seemed stopping to text on his gadget, put it back into his pocket and rose from his seat.Jane gave him a warm hug and a sweet kiss on his lips.Elena gasped. ‘No way, Mommy called him ‘sweet heart’…are they…’Jane turned her head to Elena and was followed by the man.“Elena…this…” Jane stopped, pulled her arms away from the man’s neck and perverted her stare at both.Elena and the man looked gasping at the same time as they gazed at each other, locked their stare in confused look.“Johnny, do you know her?” Jane wrinkled her forehead.Johnny Sly sighed. He turned around to Elena, Jane pulled her hold on his waist.“Yeah. We have worked together.” He gave a sly grin, looked away and returned to sit back on his chair.Elena awkwardly rubbed her forehead. “Are you dating?”Johnny rubbernecked at her and Jane chuckled to hear that. “
The day had shifted. Morning had come to shine again, Elena stopped walking along the park when her gadget echoed.Jane Dovey sent her a message. She invited her to have coffee break.‘What a wonderful news…’ she smiled. Quickly she texted the answer. Fortune was impatiently wagging her tail, asking her to walk again.“Be patient, please.” She said and stared at the dog to sit down. She was busy texting.Jane replied to her message. She mentioned the place’s name, a studio café in the city. It was known as tropical dishes and of course for their coffee brewings. The time they had coffee break, Jane gazed at Elena. She still put her caress on her daughter’s face.“I should teach you how to shine yourself.” Her stare looked gloomy as she sighed. Elena beamed, kissed Jane’s backhand gently. “I’ll be glad to.”“May I ask you?” Elena dipped the croissant into the white coffee.Jane sighed, looked at the way Elena eating the croissant. She rested her chin on a backhand while
Chapter 112The Games just BeganElena looked around as she entered the place where Ms. Jasmine telling her. She had Edward was holding her hand but she saw one table reserved for four.“Are you sure it’s about a promotion event?” She made eyes at him. She sighed after finding him look so gorgeous with black suits he wore. She put on a strapless gown in silver shade with a pair of black heels. Edward sniffed her on the neck. “Yes.” He whispered. He dragged her a chair at the table he reserved then he took a seat in front of her.He smiled. Without any predictable actions, he tossed Elena’s hair gently. He grabbed something from his suit jacket. It seemed like a piece of jewelries case. There was a pair of tiny white gold earrings with some diamond grains.“You look great if you wear these.” He put each earring on her.Gently, he did it one by one and what he did, unfortunately, it made her blood rushing fast as her heart was thumping fast and warmer her cheeks. She beamed
Ashley was surprised at the time Elena popped up in the café.“Elena, long time not to see you. Everything’s okay?” She widened opened her eyes as she wiped off the table in Elena’s sight.Elena shrugged. “A little accident happened.”“Gosh…!” Ashley covered her mouth with a hand and she gazed at her bestie, picked every details on her head to toe.“What?” Elena skewed her eyebrows. “But you’re okay, aren’t you?”Elena nodded. “Just sprained my two ankles. Nothing worse.”Ashley hit her with a cleaning cloth gently. “You must be kidding.”She inhaled deeply, looked in gloomy eyes at Elena. “What do you want to have? A cup of latte cream or cappuccino with a plain of croissant?”Elena sighed. “I wanna try different one. White coffee will be okay and a chocolate stuffed croissant.”Ashley nodded. “Okay. Wait for it.” She walked away and disappeared into the room behind the food display near the cashier table and take away order.Elena threw away her eyes through the window a
