PIERRE POV“YOU KNEW?” The betrayal in Gabriel’s voice was a living entity that wrapped its fingers around my throat. A dull ache unfurled in my stomach, bloating me and filling me with hot air. I ballooned with pain and all the horrible things I could ever think of, but what I hated the most was the fact that all the anger seemed to be directed elsewhere, at my mom.Probably because she was an easy target and the nearest to feel the scorching heat of Gabriel’s wrath. It was so justified for him to be angry, but being angry at my mom made no sense. She did not play matchmaker and prepared a bed full of roses for Poseidon and I. Hell, she was just as shocked when she found out about our affaire du cœur. Talk about unfairness if you know one. “All this time, you knew that this wench has been sleeping with my son, in my fuckin’ house Adelaide, and you did not think of letting me know?” Cold fingers of fear and pain raked the length of my spine, a shiver rolling through my entire be
PIERRE POVMorning came sooner than I had hoped, and panic swept across my tongue like gravel when my hand came in contact with an empty, ice-cold pillow. My mind had registered for something alive and warm, not the cold that stabbed through my palm and permeated through the haze of sleep. I shot out of bed, eyes snapped wide, and pulse thrumming frantically on the sides of my head. My tongue wrung dry, and tears burned the back of my eyes as they threatened to spill.Sebastian was many things. He was a jealous lover, a possessive partner who enjoyed domination. He was everything bundled up in perfection and paleness, but he was not the kind to leave me all by myself. And the realization warmed my insides like sun rays on piles of snow.I charged towards the kitchen with my heart hammering painfully against my chest. I was just about to round the corner when I was greeted by the fresh scent of pancakes and strawberries.Fear melted to placidity when I rounded the corner and found hi
SEBASTIAN POVSomebody once said; “if you love something, let it go. If it was meant to be, it will come back to you.”I guess it’s time to test the theory. ~~~PIERRE POVThere were a few rules I set for myself following the whole Poseidon escapade.Never be in the same room with the blue-eyed monster, unchaperoned. Never let my heart dwell on the hurt of the past. Never let my heart flutter upon the vicinity of a said somebody. I have had my fair share of heartbreak that I needed something to keep me in check. Heck, I was not even 18 yet, though I knew all there was to know about bleeding hearts and chest pains. I was doing pretty fine keeping myself in the lane with the thoughts of Sebastian accompanying me all the way. That was all until my meeting with Gabriel. Yeah well, he was really the blood of Poseidon. They do say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.Something about them just had to disrupt anything peaceful. It was as if peace was not allowed to be anywhere in
PIERRE POV “Hey. I am just gonna go out with Poseidon for a little bit. There's a little issue at Romeo's place. Will you be fine by yourself?” Sebastian’s soft brawl filled the room as he walked in, his footfalls stronger as he charged to where I was sitting. I was out of the seat in a heartbeat.“Is everything alright with him?" A hot hand wound around my waist before he set me down in my seat again.“Hmmn.” Soft lips grazed my forehead gently, causing wild butterflies to erupt like confetti in my stomach. My skin lit like a live wire, something unfurling in my chest with a roar. Something called desire. Sandalwood and home filled my nostrils, and a puzzle fell into place. Sebastian was my peace, Yes. “Just a little something. He is a grumpy piece of shit. A good beating is all he needs and he will be alright.." A warm smile diminished the poison in his words, and I found myself smiling. “Okay. Don't be gone for too long.” I stole a quick kiss on his smooth jaw, watching wit
PIERRE POV“SANTA WAS HEREEEEEEEEEEE. WAKE UP.” My room filled with mom’s screams as she threw herself at the foot of my bed. I fought a deep groan and took a pillow before hiding my head under it. “PUKIE COME ON. Don’t be a buzzkill.” She got to her feet before throwing herself on my side, rocking the bed for a few seconds. She scooted closer to me and hugged me, then laid her head at my back right where my neck meets my shoulders. “Poseidon told me about what happened.” I swallowed at her whispered words.“I am sorry baby.” She moved her hand up and down my arm, and a rampage of emotions slammed into my chest. For the first time since it happened, I felt something. Tears trickled down my eyes and onto the surface of the bed. I tried fighting them, but they kept coming.Mom held me in her arms until the last teardrop fell. And when the ache pacified, she ran me a bath and waited for me to freshen up.We joined Gabe and Poseidon in the lounge and sat under the tree before unwrappi
EPILOGUE~ONE YEAR LATER~New York is much better seeing it live than on magazines and television. Seeing it with my own eyes made me believe that coming here was the best decision after all. I thanked the cab driver and hauled my small backpack onto my shoulder, then stared at the coffee shop in front of me. It was practically made of glass and nothing else, and man did it look fancy. I pulled out my phone to ensure that I was at the right address, then pulled on my cap before making my way through. It was early in the morning, but there were not more than 5 people. For a renowned coffee shop in the heart of Manhattan, I expected it to be flooded. But I guess that’s what you get for visiting a high-end coffee shop. I would probably look like a stain inside the marble black floors, finely polished to perfection had it not been used for Gabriel's money. If about 2 years ago, you came to me and told me I would be sitting in a coffee shop where you bought a toothpick, I would have s
PIERRE POVThe horizon was ablaze with the fire of the setting sun, the slanting rays giving a warm tinge of red-orange to the sky, casting long shadows to the ground in its awakening. The air was pleasant to breathe, warm yet refreshing. The gentle breeze of summer brushed through the green leaves of the trees, making the eerie sound liven with the whooshing sound of the air.I stood on the solid ground, my eyes roaming all over the vast, picturesque estate spread before me. Long white pillars stretched from the ground, ascending into the sky to hold down and firmly, an opulently constructed three floors mansion, carefully carved, bent, and twisted by the experts to give an intimidating, yet lavish feeling surrounding the whole house. The walls were well painted in cream color with black accents here and there, and the stairs aligned with the little statuettes making me feel like I have stepped into an ancient Greek world. The lights from the inside seeped magnificently from the vast
PIERRE POVAs soon as my body relaxed on the world’s comfortable bed, I was out in a second. I swear it felt like I was drifting away on a soft, fluffy cloud with Adele singing a lullaby at the back of my head. I woke up about an hour later to the sound of a knock on my door.Despite having slept for only an hour, I felt utterly rested and was pretty energized. I guess the king-sized bed had some sleep elixir buried deep in the mattresses. I jumped off the bed and yanked the door open, revealing Adelaide, aka mom, or birth-giver as Shakespeare would call her, to find her standing at the door, changed into a red dress and black heels. “My little boy.” She once again flew into the room before pulling me into a tight hug. “Mom, I am 17,” I said trying to pull myself off her death clutches,“So what?” She ruffled my hair so hard I felt it biting into my scalp,“You’ll always be my little boy.” She said and slightly pushed me to the side.“It’s time for dinner.” She announced smiling dow
