PIERRE POV
The horizon was ablaze with the fire of the setting sun, the slanting rays giving a warm tinge of red-orange to the sky, casting long shadows to the ground in its awakening. The air was pleasant to breathe, warm yet refreshing. The gentle breeze of summer brushed through the green leaves of the trees, making the eerie sound liven with the whooshing sound of the air.I stood on the solid ground, my eyes roaming all over the vast, picturesque estate spread before me. Long white pillars stretched from the ground, ascending into the sky to hold down and firmly, an opulently constructed three floors mansion, carefully carved, bent, and twisted by the experts to give an intimidating, yet lavish feeling surrounding the whole house. The walls were well painted in cream color with black accents here and there, and the stairs aligned with the little statuettes making me feel like I have stepped into an ancient Greek world. The lights from the inside seeped magnificently from the vast windows, casting warm glows around the cradle and illuminating the whole establishment. There was only one word that came to my mind when I saw the house; Breathtaking.Reluctantly, I glanced down at my small travel bag before howling it behind me, then carefully headed for the neatly carved and perfected stone stairs until I reached the foyer. Awestruck, I glanced around the enormous space and nodded to myself, with the realization that the foyer only was twice the size of my dad’s living room back in France. A pang of sadness settled heavy inside of me with the memory of him. It has been a day since I have seen him, but I already missed him terribly.Shaking off the unpleasant thoughts, I stepped towards the giant double door, then pressed the little white button mounted to the right side of the door seal. The sound of the bell tolling inside was heard, followed by deafening silence. I waited for a few seconds, my heart skipping beats with the thought of what waited for me. There was a small ping that sounded over my head, coaxing me to look up. I found a small red eye glancing down at me, then raised my hand to make a little awkward wave, hoping that whoever was staring down at me, would have mercy and be kind enough to open the door and let me in.I was worn out, and drained. All I needed right now was a good shower and maybe two hours of undisturbed sleep. Flying has never been among my favorite things to do.Almost before I could drop my arm, the door was whisked open to reveal HER. Dressed neatly in a body-hugging black dress that made her the house befitting to her image, the jewelry worth millions and a dazzling smile on her face. “Mon joli garcon.” Mom stepped out of the house before pulling me in a giant bear hug that made me feel like all my insides were pushed upwards. I tried to pry myself off her tight grip but gave up when she began rocking around with me. “Salute, Maman,” I replied flatly, hoping she would just set me down. After an eternity, she pulled back from the hug before attacking my face with kisses. I fought the sickening cringe that was clawing itself towards my face and just let her have her moment.“Vous avez tellement grandi.” She amused holding me by the sides of my head before perking my forehead. I managed a small smile before staring back to the outside where my lone travel back stood, waiting for me to claim it.“This place is amazing,” I said awkwardly reverting the topic. She glanced heavenward before revealing her pearly white teeth. “I know right, there’s no getting used to it.” She grinned, and when I didn’t say anything, she brushed her hands on her dress and then ushered me inside.“Come, let’s get you to your room.” Upon hearing her words, I made a way to turn to get my bag, but she was quick to capture my hand and started to walk down the stairs.“They will take care of it. Come on, tell me more about France.” She said smiling. I so wished she would stop smiling because it made it hard to stay mad at her. I know she was more beautiful than she has ever been, happier even, but that didn’t erase the fact that she left my dad and ran into the sunset with some American billionaire. I wasn’t against it, not at all. But it still stung that they were no longer together. I kind of loved them together.“Can I at least shower first? I stink.” I informed gently pulling my hand from hers. Her smile dropped slightly at my withdrawal, but she was quick to mask it off with yet another smile. At least she didn’t feel bad.We climbed the stairs to the third floor until we arrived on some opulent, lavishly decorated hallways. The lamps mounted on the ceiling created a warm glow that bathed us low. I mean they were two souls that created this messed-up thing called ME.“Everybody prefers low lights. Hope you don’t mind.” She announced before stepping forward, then walking down the vast carpeted hallways. I came canoodling behind her, my head spinning around my neck as I tried to make out some of the infamous paintings that hung proudly on the wall. I lost count and just decided to focus on the décor. I wasn’t much of an architect, but I knew a good thing when I saw one. This house had to be the epitome of perfection. I almost felt like a speck of dirt in its perfect being.Mom opened the door on the right side of the hallway, then spread her arms outwards.“Surprise….” She then continued to push me in and stand behind me, letting me take my surroundings all in. I turned back to stare at her face, to find her hands clamped on her chest and an idiotic grin on her face. Honestly, how could I stay mad at all that?“You like it?” She asked, her eyes sparkling expectantly as she waited for my response.“It’s perfect.” The room had to be bigger than my dad’s whole house. It was equipped with everything a teen boy could ever want. From the fanciest play station, I merely fantasized about, to a big bookshelf that lined the other side of the wall. There was a door just beside it, and another one mounted opposite to it.Facing the bed was a blue lounge area, with a full set of couches, coffee tables, and a flat-screen TV mounted on the wall. The bed was king-sized and something about… everything made me feel like I stepped into some different kind of world. This couldn’t be my room.“We will go shopping on weekend and fill your closet. Right over there, is your en-suite bathroom. You’re going to love the shower.” She made sure to pinch my cheeks before delving deeper into the room, then gestured to all the doors.“And this right here…” She gestured to the bookshelf, her face splitting into another grin, “Is for my little college man.” “Ahhmmm… I am still in high school.” I said, fighting the urge to frown at her.“Of course, but you aren’t staying in high school forever. And everything you need to know about Law is right here.” She said and started running toward me. She held me by her arms, a sweet smile marring her face.“I am happy you decided to come,” “And I am happy I came,” I said nodding to her. She pulled me in for a quick kiss before jumping backward.“Okay. Freshen up and get some rest. Everyone will be here soon and you will get to meet them.” She announced, and by everyone, I instantly knew she referred to her husband and her stepson. “Poseidon is dying to meet you.” If only I knew,PIERRE POVAs soon as my body relaxed on the world’s comfortable bed, I was out in a second. I swear it felt like I was drifting away on a soft, fluffy cloud with Adele singing a lullaby at the back of my head. I woke up about an hour later to the sound of a knock on my door.Despite having slept for only an hour, I felt utterly rested and was pretty energized. I guess the king-sized bed had some sleep elixir buried deep in the mattresses. I jumped off the bed and yanked the door open, revealing Adelaide, aka mom, or birth-giver as Shakespeare would call her, to find her standing at the door, changed into a red dress and black heels. “My little boy.” She once again flew into the room before pulling me into a tight hug. “Mom, I am 17,” I said trying to pull myself off her death clutches,“So what?” She ruffled my hair so hard I felt it biting into my scalp,“You’ll always be my little boy.” She said and slightly pushed me to the side.“It’s time for dinner.” She announced smiling dow
POSEIDON POV“I am full.” I announced dropping my cutlery onto the table and tearing out of the dining room. As soon as I was out of sight, I leaned against the wall, aggressively clutching my chest to calm my savagely beating heart. My thoughts wandered about the place, trying to figure out how the hell it all came to this.It has been a year. A whole year with my mind in gutters, trying to decipher what had actually gone down that night. It has been a year since I have been questioning every single thing about my life, trying to find answers to millions of questions that kept me awake at night. A whole year of me convincing myself that I was normal, call me homophobic but I knew there was no way I could ever be… that way. I mean it couldn’t be true. With a heavy inner struggle, I climbed the stairs hurriedly, taking two at a time until I arrived on my floor and ran straight into my bedroom. After slamming the door and ensuring that it was locked, I plopped myself onto the bed and t
POSEIDON POV~FLASHBACK~“You’ll be hammered before the fun ends if you keep going like this.”Romeo pointed out handing me my sixth… or was it seventh? Don’t care! Anyway, he pointed out as he handed me yet another full glass of wine before taking an empty one from my other hand and placing it on the tray of the passing waiter. I made sure to raise a toast to him before chugging the whole liquid down and then winced at the burning sensation as the liquor traveled down my throat. My eyes continued roaming the expansive hall taking in all kinds of people who have swarmed up to witness the ‘holy matrimony’ of the infamous Gabriel Rhodez and his second wife. I made sure to stay in the shadows, avoiding the limelight at all costs. Today wasn’t about me, it was about him. And I couldn’t afford to be buttered along by the group of bulimic pot-bellied oldies who were lying through their teeth.Don’t call me bitter. It's just that… this wasn’t my kind of crowd. Fancy designer dresses, diamon
PIERRE POV“It’s an honor to have another Young Master join us here.” Young Master? OOOOOOKAYYYYY?“I will leave him in your care then.” Mom replied before giving a small nod to the school’s principal who seemed rather overly enticed by the idea of the ‘other young master’ joining Rhodez High. If I were to be brutally honest, the idea of being called the Young Master didn’t really phase me. I have ever only seen them in Asian movies and never thought that they are a real thing and that someone could be literally addressed as the Young Master. Or those overzealous titles. “Of course Mrs. Rhodez.” She gave out a huge sigh before turning towards me with the biggest grin. I found myself forcing a smile and giving her an awkward wave, then turned to look at the black Cadilac parked a good foot behind us, ready to leave that place.“Let’s not waste any more of your time.” Mom said, then started to turn around. I was in front of her in a heartbeat, running away from the buttering words tha
POSEIDON POVDo you know that feeling? That little jittery spark that sizzles down your spine, then causes butterflies to dance around your tummy whenever the thought of that particular someone crosses your mind? That little shiver that leaves you wondering if they’re real or not... That is exactly what I was feeling. At least at that very moment.I was still in a state of trying to figure out what it was I felt when it came to Pierre. Not even full 24 hours have gone by since his arrival but I was already trying so hard to decipher how I was going to live with him just across the hall. The boy didn't need to do anything, all he had to do was exist, and that only was enough to have my mind in the gutters. Now being alone with him didn't do any help. The sun had just set and the sky was a lovely orange hue, with a gentle breeze brushing around us. I was vaguely aware of his sneak peeks at my naked body, even though he thought I had no idea that he was checking me out. I don’t know what
PIERRE POVThe rest of the weekend flashed by more quickly than I had anticipated. I was still amidst the dire confusion of change, trying to cope with the idea of suddenly being a rich kid living in a house bigger than The Louvre with maids at my disposal all day long. Everything was just so overwhelming and before I could wrap my mind around everything that was happening and cushion myself well, come to terms with that yes this was it, this was my life and I was going to be some trust fund baby, it was already Monday and we were all leaving for school. I don’t know what it was that made me so antsy, but I didn’t sleep a wink the previous night. Luckily, I had thoughts of Poseidon accompanying me for the rest of the night.I should say, he has played rather an important faction around me these past few days, despite the haze and bafflement that was overriding my system. Although the change was good, that didn't mean it was all easy. But at the end of the day, it was change, and no ma
PIERRE POVThe day was rather much lazier than I had expected. It was only after 12, already nearing lunchtime, but we were still milling around getting accustomed to the campus and everything. No classes were held since it was all about orientation and signing up for additional classes... All that turmoil. And I should rather say, Rhodez Empire Academy was a literal heaven on earth. I may have thought I have seen its opulence previously when I came here with mom, even on the internet, but I truly didn’t see a thing. Absolutely, nobody prepared me for the thing I found here. All that I saw that another day was just a drop of water in a cast ocean. It didn’t even begin to compare to everything that was here.First and foremost, the ordonnance itself spoke volumes and the way everything was just in its place had to be the highlight of it all. I was in pure awe. And I did hope that all the hands that worked on this, had the reimbursement they deserved, for they went all out and beyond.
POSEIDON POVThe sonic boom of an unruly throng of admirers... The loud cheers that come unbidden at any moment...I always took it them all up with a grain of salt. They have been a part of my life since the beginning of forever, and I was so used to them, to the point where I felt kind of partial and a little insane without all of them. From the get-go, it was only about being the son of the owner of Empire Academy. That granted me some lisence over a couple of things around here, such as an exclusive treatment, being boot-licked by both students and teachers.I met my friends very early, we were all from rich families and that kind of treatment was no foreign to us. Like a dream, we became the epitome of Empire Academy. Seeing all of that, we created our own little clique which became popular that the plastic of the Kar-Jenners. It didn't take long before the Z4 were trending around the school, and we carried all throughout our school years. Here we were, 8 years later and going
