Before they departed, Jamie leaned against the car window, not crying or making a scene. He just said with red eyes, "Mommy, can I call you if I miss you? If you find it annoying, I'll only call you once a month."

I couldn't help but worry about him and nodded.

It seemed like karma that Vicente's father only had Jamie as his grandchild.

After going back, Jamie would be groomed as the future heir of the Buckley family.

Staying with the Buckley family would be better for him than living with me.

The car drove further and further away, eventually blending into the traffic and disappearing.

Sofia looked up. "Mommy, Jamie broke his own Lego set. I saw it."

I paused and then smiled with relief, "This kid is smarter than his dad. It must be because of my genes."

Sofia rolled her eyes resignedly. "What are we having for dinner tonight?"

"Pasta."

"Help!"
