RAINORA.
I stepped into the apartment in a daze, my thoughts all jumbled. My hands shook as I locked the door behind me. Eunice’s cheerful voice floated from the living room. She was sitting on the couch, a jade roller gliding over her cheek as she chatted animatedly on her phone. She waved, her face lighting up when she saw me—until she took in my expression. “Hey, I’ll call you back,” Eunice murmured, her tone suddenly serious. She ended the call and set her phone down, studying me. “What happened? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” I hesitated, then moved to sit on the couch. I took a deep breath. “I’m quitting my job at Conway Law.” Eunice blinked, clearly caught off guard. “What? Why?” “I got a new job,” I said quietly. “I’m going to be a personal assistant at Woods Enterprises.” Eunice stiffened, her jade roller freezing mid-motion. Her lips parted, but she didn’t say anything right away. After a beat, she managed, “Woods Enterprises? As in... Nikolas Woods?” I nodded, my eyes trained on the floor. “Yes. He offered me the position tonight. The pay is... it’s incredible, Eunice. It’s more than I could have ever hoped for. And there’s a new apartment, too.” Eunice placed the roller down slowly, her expression hard to read. “You’re going to work for him?” I glanced up at her, surprised by the edge in her voice. “Yes. I accepted because it’s going to help me and my family. Arin will finally get the treatment he needs.” Eunice opened her mouth as if to say something, then seemed to think better of it. She pressed her lips into a thin line and nodded curtly. “Okay,” she said, though her tone suggested she didn’t mean it. I offered a small, nervous smile. “Thank you, by the way. For helping me get here and letting me stay with you. I couldn’t have done this without you.” Her features softened slightly. “You know you’re welcome, Rain. I just—” She paused, frowning. “Are you in trouble?” The question hit me like a cold wind, and I froze for a moment too long before shaking my head. “No. I’m not in trouble.” Eunice studied me intently, her brows knitted. “You can tell me, you know. If something’s wrong.” “I know,” I said, managing a reassuring smile. “But I’m fine. Really. It’s just... a big change.” I stood, my voice light. “Goodnight, Eunice.” Eunice leaned back into the couch, clearly unconvinced. “Goodnight,” she murmured, her voice skeptical. I escaped to my room, closing the door behind me and leaning against it. I sighed, letting the tension seep from my shoulders. Kicking off my shoes, I began peeling off my clothes and preparing for bed. Once in my pajamas, I grabbed my phone and dialed Mom’s number. The screen lit up with a video call, and a few seconds later, her face appeared, warm and familiar. “Rain, sweetheart!” Mom greeted. “How are you?” My lips trembled into a smile. “Hi, Mom. I’m good. How are you and Arin?” Her eyes sparkled, her smile radiant. “Oh, Rain, I was going to call you! We got a call earlier—Arin’s been added to a premium treatment list. His first appointment is tomorrow!” My eyes widened, my throat tightening with emotion. “What?” “They said it’s all covered,” she continued, her voice trembling with joy. “Rain, I don’t know how this happened, but... it’s a miracle.” I blinked rapidly, trying to hold back tears. “It’s not a miracle,” I whispered. “I... I got a new job. A better one. And it came with benefits.” Mom’s smile faltered slightly. “A new job? So soon? What kind of job is this?” “I’m a personal assistant now,” I said, keeping my voice light. “For someone high up in the business world. It’s nothing crazy, Mom, but it’s enough to make things better for all of us.” Mom’s expression softened. “Oh, Rain, I’m so proud of you. You’re always taking care of us.” I swallowed the lump in my throat. “I just want Arin to have the best shot, you know? And now he can.” The camera shifted slightly, and Arin’s face popped into view, his fingers still flying over the keyboard of his laptop. “Did you get me a new laptop yet?” I laughed, wiping my eyes. “I’ll get you one soon, I promise. A better one than that ancient thing you’re using now.” We talked for a little while longer, our conversation easing some of the weight pressing on my chest. When we finally ended the call, I lay back in bed, staring at the ceiling. Curiosity gnawed at me, and before I could stop myself, I opened my phone and typed “Nikolas Woods” into the search bar. The results were endless—articles praising his tech empire, photos of him at galas and award ceremonies, and countless pieces touting his status as one of the most eligible bachelors in the world. One headline caught my eye: “Nikolas Woods: Ruthless Visionary or Cunning Tyrant?” I clicked on it, skimming through the text, which detailed his sharp business acumen and the many enemies he’d made in his rise to the top. I shook my head, dropping my phone onto the nightstand. “What did I get myself into?” I muttered under my breath. The device buzzed just as I was about to turn off the lamp. A text lit up the screen. Unknown Number: 9 am, Adderman. My stomach fell. Frowning, I typed back: Who is this? The response came quickly. Unknown Number: You know damn well who it is. Go to bed. My mouth fell open, both irritated and unnerved. I scoffed, tossing the phone onto the bed. “What a control freak,” I muttered. Despite my frustration, images of cold, calculating gray eyes and a dangerous smirk filled my mind. I sighed, turning to my side. It was a long while before I finally drifted to sleep.RAINORA8.59am!Tiny sweats slowly ran through my brows. That was the time I saw on my brown leather-strapped watch. I quickly paid the taxi driver as we stopped infront of Wood Enterprises. It was a high sky scrapper that reflected the sun on its clean windows. I was amazed on the modern architecture, its tall building stretched high to the clouds. It was truly a magnificent sight. "Keep the change." I tipped the driver, he smiled cheekily as he gazed at my maroon slim-fit suit. I didn't have any formal suit so Eunice borrowed me one of her high-end suits. It accentuated my curves so I could feel the driver undressing me with his eyes."Thanks...first day right?" He asked as he turned away. "Yes" I nodded positively. Finally, I dropped down at the pavement as I hurriedly rushed into the sliding doors of the building. The lobby was filled with various people of all works of life wearing brand label suits and accessories. I thought I was wearing something expensive, but compared to th
NIKOLASThe door bell into my office rang from outside, announcing someone's presence. I saw in the cctv monitor, two gorgeous ladies at the door. First was May, one of my most trusted employees. She handled all that worked directly for me as personal assistants. She had a dignified aura, yet she had a feminine figure which was mesmerizing. The second person along with her had a strange yet familiar look about her. I pressed the button to allow them both enter. I squinted and saw the young lady beside May. She wore a tight fitted suit, yet it was obvious she was uncomfortable and sensitive on how revealing her shape showed. I could tell she wasn't used to wearing suits often. She kept re-adjusting it. I unconsciously let out a smirk on my face. It was when she entered the office that I saw it was Rainora from the club yesterday. "You're late.' I shouted. Her face gloomed filling embarrassed. She clinched her hands tensely, though she looked awkward talking while May was present. I s
RainoraI kept reminiscing on the conversation I had with Nikolas. One hundred thousand dollars weekly. That will go a long way in taking care of both my mom and arin. I was hoping for a raise but I never imagined I could earn such an enormous amount of money. Now, I could finally pursue my dreams I had back-peddled for a long time."Earth to Rainora-" May snapped her fingers. She could tell I was loss in thoughts, I immediately recollected myself as we headed out of the building. At the entrance, there was a black Cadillac escalade parked infront. It's beautiful exterior, shining rims and the smooth sound of the running engine gave it a spectacular view. It stood out amongst the cars in waiting. Time went by as we didn't realize it was already nightfall, May showed me my desk which was just some few inches away from Nikolas' office. She was some floors below, but she was one of the few employees who had the access key to his office level. She also taught me how to pick incoming call
RainoraClick! The sound of key opening the door of apartment number 13. It had a clean welcoming air as I shut the door behind me. The minimalist decor gave it a modern look. There were expensive paintings hung all over the house. Exquisite blue sofas were positioned perfectly in the living area facing the balcony. I couldn't resist opening its door to cherish the view of the entire city that reached far and wide. There was also the view of the park, filled with trees and a little pond with swans. There was a soft breeze that gently caressed my soft cheeks. I closed my eyes to take it all in. Like a queen looking down at her subjects. Life is pretty sweet up above. I humored myself. Nothing tastes better than success and riches. I continued my tour around the house, by checking the neatly clean kitchen with a stacked fridge filled with various provisions and drinks. The apartment had one bedroom, but it was spacious with a queen-size bed along with throw pillows and silk bedcovers
NikolasI drove my new red sports car that made a huge roar when I gassed down the pedal. I had a meeting across town with Empire Holdings, a construction company that has deep ties in the city. They have been in operation for many years and have a lot of properties all over the town. Unfortunately, with high cost of materials and harsh economic policies, they had to down size their staffs and were overwhelmed by debt. In order to stay afloat, they were looking for partnership. A proposal was already sent to me, so I want to check their books before making a final decision.I arrived at their entrance, There was a burly man standing at front door. A valet came to pickup the car as I approached the door. The security man tried to stop me, but I gave him a cold stare that shook him. He quietly stepped aside. I met the receptionist who was blonde with blue eyes . Looking like a fairy princess. Her office top and suit trousers accentuated her figure. I came here for business, no time for
NikolasI sat in my office alongside Wren, my adopted brother who is also the Vice President and along with the Head of Accounting Erik Stevens. He's in his late thirties. He has clean-shaved face, wearing tailored made checked suit. He wore glasses that fit the oval shaped face."The partnership agreement has been sent to Empire Holdings successfully." Erik browsed through the numbers that I discussed with David yesterday. He had an intense look on his face as he was solely focused on his tablet.Wren and I observed him closely. He broke down all the account jargon so easily. He had the magic touch while balancing the accounts."This is a very good deal Boss." Erik's eyes wide opened like a child in a candy store. "Empire holding is a strong company. Their debts are short term. They have paid up most of their loans. The remaining was used for expansion. With the right guidance and discipline, their projection can reach a billion in five years." I and Wren gasped at the figure Erik to
RainoraNice?I wondered as I returned back to my desk. Nikolas has never said anything nice to me before, so why start now. He just mocked my style of dressing yesterday, so why the sudden flattery. Maybe, he was been sarcastic again like before. I felt a huge lump in my throat. This suit was among the most beautiful collection in the store. Everyone kept starring at me since I got to the office today. What more can I do to impress him. I thought quietly. I hope he doesnt say we wasted his money and refund him back. No, he won't.I'm sure he doesn't even check his accounts. I assured myself."Lost in your thoughts again, Rainora?"May gently tapped my desk. She stood impatiently holding some files to be signed."Sorry May, something just happened in Mr.Nikolas's office." I responded as I hurriedly collected the files from her."Dont keep me guessing Rainora, what is it? May demeanor became serious as she gazed deeply into my eyes. Like she was trying to read into my soul."Mr.Nikolas s
RainoraI went to Eunice's office days later.Vastoni Cooperation was among the top construction companies in the city. Their headquarters stood a high building, its unique architectural design gave it a distinct look that was visible all around the working area.I met a burly man who was fully armed and had an intimidating look at the entrance. There was a dangerous aura around him. He gave me a sinister smile as I walked into the lobby."Hey, pls I will to see Eunice Johnson, I'm Rainora." I said, the receptionist gazing with intently as she sized me top to bottom. I was on my way to work, before I stopped to see Eunice first. I work a purple suit-top and a pencil skirt that accentuated all my curves smoothly. She looked at me with envy."Do you have an appointment?" The receptionist asked. "I have a package for her. "I signaled my designer hand bag to her. She paused momentarily before picking up her telecom to make a call."Eunice, there is a lady in the lobby called Miss Rainora
Caleb“Let me tell you how to go about it-” Celeste leaned towards me covertly and whispered some words in my ear. I gasped at the ingenuity of her plan. However, a wave of optimism washed over me as the likelihood that this plan could work seemed very high.“I know I can make her fall in love with me,” I mumbled to myself in vigor. I had a grin on my face. Celeste had a mischievous smile on her face as she met her gaze.I waited several days for the tension to quiet down. I dressed up in a navy-blue tailored suit. It accentuated my broad frame perfectly. I quickly put on my gold-plated watch and leather shoes on the way to the office. This time, I arrived a few hours after the workers had commenced their daily duties. I aimed to avoid any further attention that would alert Rainora.I entered the office discreetly and signaled the receptionists not to inform her of my arrival. It was easy to confirm my details with the security personnel as I was among the executive members of the boa
Caleb “Let go of her…” A familiar yet domineering tone snapped. It had the baritone of an angry lion. The sudden command of that voice took me aback. I turned to confront the source of the voice, and it turned out to be none other than Nikolas. He shot a dark glare in my direction, which left me shuddering. But I regained my thoughts and met his gaze. “What are you doing here so early, Nikolas?” I had a cheeky smile on my face as I replied. His eyes darkened at my response. His eyes focused on my grip on Rainora’s hands. I tried to tighten my grip to antagonize him, but suddenly, Rainora managed to free herself due to my distraction. Before I could make any movement, she rushed off to the building. I had a smirk on my face as I watched her retreating figure. The audience watching the entire scenes eventually dissipated while whispering, making their conversations inaudible. “I came for an early morning meeting, but it appears I got here just in time-” Nikolas curved his lip
CalebI balanced on my soft bed mattress, glancing through the latest edition of a trending female magazine. It featured full coverage of women in various tasteful attire and casual wear. They looked stunning in their various poses and stances. It also featured various articles on how to enhance intimacy between couples and other relationship goals. This always made me chuckle. I read the magazine to while away time when I was abrupted by loud yelling and cacophony. I hissed as I dropped the magazine and headed out to the source of that squabble this early morning.I followed this noise to the dining hall, where I saw my elder brother, Nikolas, storming out with dark gazes. I had a puzzled look as I scanned across the room. Mother Irene’s face turned red in anger, she kept venting out her recent disagreements with him to Celeste, my younger sister. Celeste had a mischievous smile as she met my gaze. I surmounted that whatever happened between Irene and Nikolas, she was smack in the m
NikolasThe morning rays gently tapped my skin as I slowly opened my eyes. I woke up to the gorgeous view of Rainora sleeping in such harmony. Her occasional snoring made me chuckle quietly. I tried to slip my hand away from her grip, but she held back instinctively. I heaved a sigh as I resorted to keeping an eye on her until she woke up.Finally, she woke up with a bright smile on her face. Her eyes widened as she snapped back to reality. Her cheeks turned red and blushed. She bit her lips as she glanced at me.“Good morning, Nikolas.” She said calmly. She raised her duvet to cover her lips slightly. I grinned at her shyness. “Good morning, dear. Hope you slept well?” I asked in a sincere tone. She nodded in agreement, and her demeanor slowly changed as she probably remembered the events of the night before. My heart started pacing as I felt the urge to help her forget all her sorrows. I forced a smile on my face as I held her hand firmly.“You snore in your sleep,” I said mockingl
Rainora POVI squinted my eyes and recognized the smug on Catherine’s face. She wiped the sweat dropping from her forehead as she adjusted the camera on the tripod. She had a malicious grin on her face as she shouted instructions.“Move closer to get the perfect angle.” She gestured her hands to move towards her. I tried to feebly spring away but the burly man’s strength was over whelming. He twisted his smile slightly. “I like it when you resist.” He aggressively pinned me down to the mattresss.“Why are you doing this Catherine?” I pouted. She had a vengeful look as she gazed at me.“This video should be enough to dissuade Nikolas from your spell.” She pressed the play button on the camera.Just as he tried to remove my coat. A loud thud stormed through the door. A dominating figure stood tall at the entrance. His dark gaze shuddered the burly man, he had a murderous glint in his eyes as he met my gaze.“Nikolas-” I called out. He clenched his fists in anger till blood came out. He
Rainora POVSeveral days after the incident with Celeste in the office, it gradually returned to normal. After the buzz spread, the frenzy finally subsided. This was due to the fear of speaking ill against an executive family member of the company. I continued my routines as usual and proceeded with the to-do list for the day.I got a call from a receptionist on the ground floor.“Good afternoon, Miss Rainora. You have a package here addressed to you.” She said in a calm tone. My breath was caught in my throat.“Who will send a package to me here in the office?” I thought to myself. I snapped out of my daze and replied. “Yes, you can send it upstairs. Thank You.” I dropped the intercom.Moments later, a man dressed in a red shirt and black pants with a company logo crested on his chest walked out of the lift. He had a parcel balanced on his waist while holding a bouquet of red roses in the other hand. He had a polite smile on his face as he approached me.“Good afternoon. Are you Mis
Celeste POVI reached the lobby of the company while clenching my fists. I had a cold glint in my eyes as I exited the building. Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice called out to me.“Miss Celeste…?” I glanced at a lady who aged up roughly. She had the features of a girl in her twenties, but her face looked 10 years older. She had a haggard and disheveled appearance. She seemed to be in a challenging period in her life. I had a puzzled look as I gazed at her deeply.“Yes, who are you?” I asked with a serious tone. She hid in an alley nearby and acted suspiciously and nervously.“My name is Catherine, I’m a former staff of the company.” She replied in a hoarse voice. She stylishly avoided my gaze. I sensed there was more to her, and that piqued my curiosity.“Why did they fire you, Catherine?” Her demeanor changed; she had a murderous intent as she glanced at me. I was taken aback by the sinister look, but I snapped out of my daze quickly. She gritted her teeth and could only muster one wor
Rainora POVI hurriedly walked through the front door of my apartment building.“Good evening, Miss Rainora-” My doorman tried to greet me respectfully. However, I dashed in front of him quickly so as not to see my cheeks red blushing. I slightly nodded my head in approval as I reached the lift. I wiped the sweat glistened on my brow as I pressed the button to my floor.“What came over me?” I thought to myself. Whenever I’m around Nikolas, I become a different person. More aggressive and bolder. I twisted my lips slightly. A wave of confidence washed me as I entered my apartment. I called Mary to check on her and Arin before dozing off to sleep. The next day, I dressed up in coffee black office gown which accentuated my figure. I felt a pang of anxiety as I got down to the lobby of my building. I wanted to make up for my awful response to the doorman yesterday.“Good morning Daniel.” I said with an enthusiastic tone. The doorman Daniel's eyes flickered with joy as I remembered his n
Nikolas POVI woke up in a confused state recollecting the night before. I had a fiery argument with my mother Irene and siblings. Feeling helpless and vulnerable, I drove to the one person who calmed the storm in my heart.I finally reached her apartment and she stepped out in a silky pink night gown buttoned top with shorts. Her alluring legs were so inviting, with her natural beauty and soft femininity flowing effortlessly. I couldn’t help myself as I grabbed her and pinned her to the wall. The remaining flashes of memory returned back gently soothing my mind like a lullaby. A wave of serenity washed over me as I glanced at the sweet beauty lying down close to me. Even in her sleep, she looked peaceful and harmless.I felt a mild sting on my back, like scratch marks. “That’s my little lioness.” I mumbled to myself. Slender yet so feisty. I curved my lips slightly. She finally woke up and we kissed before I left the room.“- see you in the office. Really?” I smacked my forehead leav
