I drove my new red sports car that made a huge roar when I gassed down the pedal. I had a meeting across town with Empire Holdings, a construction company that has deep ties in the city. They have been in operation for many years and have a lot of properties all over the town. Unfortunately, with high cost of materials and harsh economic policies, they had to down size their staffs and were overwhelmed by debt. In order to stay afloat, they were looking for partnership. A proposal was already sent to me, so I want to check their books before making a final decision. I arrived at their entrance, There was a burly man standing at front door. A valet came to pickup the car as I approached the door. The security man tried to stop me, but I gave him a cold stare that shook him. He quietly stepped aside. I met the receptionist who was blonde with blue eyes . Looking like a fairy princess. Her office top and suit trousers accentuated her figure. I came here for business, no time for distractions. I thought to myself. "Hello...is the CEO available?" I gently asked. "Yes he is, pls may I know your name." She replied. Her perfume had a touch of softness and an irresistible allure. "My name is....Nikolas Woods." I responded with a broad smile. Immediately, Her demeanor changed, her eyes opened widely in astonishment. "My apologies Mr. Woods, I didn't recognize you sooner. I will let him know immediately." She picked up her call and whispered into it. Within a few seconds, the CEO and other company executives rushed down quickly to the reception to welcome me. "Good day Mr. Woods, we are sorry for keeping you waiting." A man in his late forties, bowed respectfully to me. He wore a grey suit, with a dark blue tie. He wore an expensive gold watch. He was among the executives who brought the proposal to my office. I recognized him, he was the CEO, David. "That's alright David, I came to review the terms of the proposal." I replied, he calmly escorted me to his office. His office was quite spacious, though a bit smaller than mine. However, the aesthetic was pleasing. Behind, his desk has a cabinet filled with awards and recognitions. He seemed very proud of the company's achievement. He signaled for him to have a seat . He went back to his seat for us to commence the meeting. "Have you made your decision, Mr. Woods?" David asked nervously. The partnership deal was a lifesaver for his company. He seemed keen to find out my decision. "The proposal was appealing, but before I make a final decision how much does your company owe in debt?" I asked. His demeanor suddenly changed to a serious face. "I will have to confirm from the accounting department, but we need approximately two hundred million dollars to be in the clear." David look embarrassed saying how much he owed the bank. "Two hundred million, that's a huge amount but a deal can still be agreed on." I responded. The aura became tensed as the discussion continued. These was the make or break period of the negotiation. Most people succumb to the pressure, meanwhile this my favorite part as I get to dictate my terms. I saw sweat slowly dripping down David's forehead. I have him exactly where I wanted him. I thought to myself. I tried to hold my excitement so as not to reveal my leverage "How much percentage of shares are you willing to let go David?" I asked with a slight grin on my face. "I'm willing to give out forty-five percent." David hesitantly replies. "Since I'm taking all the risks, I will need more than that." I responded. "The least I will take is seventy percent till I get my money back, then forty-five percent in perpetuity." I said. David let a sigh of defeat and sadness. He gave out a forced smile, as this was a bittersweet moment. He nodded in acceptance. "My people will send the corresponding documents for signing, it's a pleasure doing business with you." I extended my hand to shake him. He stretched out for a handshake. He escorted me out accompanied with other company executives to my car. They bowed slowly as he drove off. Another victory for me.
