Chapter 2

Renee walked into the living room with the popcorn in hand. She sat down beside Kevin and set the bowl in her lap. She looked at him and smiled. This was their two year anniversary. She loved him more than life itself. He was the perfect man for her. He was six-foot, blonde-haired, and green-eyed. She loved his eyes the most. They were such a bright green. She got lost in them all the time. He would ask her what she was looking at so intently and she would laugh.

Kevin smiled back as he leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips. He had something very special planned for tonight. This woman was the one he planned on being with forever. And he just hoped she felt the same. He met her a year after his trial and he was found innocent. To his surprise, she had not heard of the incident or him. So, he had never told her about it. He hoped she never found out about it because he loved her and was afraid he would lose her if she ever found out about what he had done. What he had been capable of.

“So, what did you pick out for us to watch?” Renee asked him.

“I picked The Lucky One because that’s how I feel about you,” Kevin replied.

“Aw. You are just too sweet. I love you so much,” Renee said.

“I love you, too. So, do you want to watch the movie, or maybe we can skip it and….” Kevin trailed off, winking at her as he said this.

“Kevin, you are terrible. I would love to see this movie first. And then I will do things you can make a movie out of,” Renee laughed as she ran her hand up his thigh.

Kevin felt an immediate thrill run through him. Everything she did was a turn-on for him. He leaned in and kissed her deeply. She leaned back and he moved forward pressing against her. She wrapped her arms and legs around him pressing herself against him as hard as she could and pulled his hair out of the ponytail. She ran her hands through his hair and kissed him harder. The feel of his hair was so silky and Renee loved it when it ran across her body. Kevin knew this and broke the kiss to move down to her neck and let the hair run across her neck and chest. She moaned and he ground himself into her.

Renee tugged on the bottom of her shirt and he moved back and watched as she removed her shirt and bra. Then he removed his own shirt and started to kiss her breasts as his hair fell around his face and onto her. They kissed and caressed each other until there was a noise coming from the kitchen.

Kevin sat back and looked at Renee. He put his finger over his lips and she nodded. He got up and moved slowly towards the kitchen. Renee sat up and waited but when she heard the noises of a struggle she went running to the kitchen. Kevin had a man sitting on top of him punching him. Kevin was fighting back but the man had the upper hand. Renee ran over and tried to grab the man off of Kevin. He elbowed her in the chest and she fell back trying to catch her breath. Then, he started slamming Kevin’s head into the floor which knocked him out. He then turned towards her and she tried to slide away.

He grabbed her and drug her over to a chair. He took the rope that was sitting on the table and tied her to the chair and started touching her breasts while he did. Then, he grabbed Kevin and tied him to a chair. Then, he came towards her. She had finally caught her breath and she screamed.

He laughed and said, “Scream for me, baby. No one is going to hear you. The good thing about the house you chose to live in is that it's miles from anyone else. Thanks for that by the way.”

The man continued petting her bare breasts as she hadn't thought to put her shirt back on when she had heard the commotion in the kitchen. He unbuttoned her pants and she tried to kick out but he merely sat in her lap so she couldn't. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of screaming again. He undid the rope around the chair and jerked her up where he tied her hands behind her back. She struggled but it wasn't much use. It just made the rope pull tighter.

He pulled her pants down and sat her back in the chair. He pulled another rope out and tied it through the chair effectively tying her upper half to it. He pulled the pants completely off and tied her ankles. Then he waited for Kevin to wake up.

When Kevin woke up, his head was pounding, and he wasn't sure where he was. He groaned and looked around. His eyes sprung open as he saw Jesse sitting in his kitchen. He looked around and saw Renee sitting naked and tied in another chair. She had bruises setting in on her face, breasts, and stomach.

"Welcome back to the world of the conscious, Romeo. We've been having some fun while waiting for you to wake up. But, now it's time for some real fun," Jesse said as he untied Renee's hands from the chair.

Kevin saw her hands were still tied behind her back. There was a rope around her ankles but it was loose so there was space for her feet to move apart. Her head was lolling back and forth as the blows to her face had probably knocked her almost unconscious.

"Jesse, don't do this. She has nothing to do with what happened," Kevin pleaded.

"An eye for an eye, you bastard. You took what I loved so I'm just returning the favor."

"Kevin, what's going on?" Renee asked, pleading for him to help her with her eyes.

Kevin felt like someone had just landed a thousand blows to his heart. He had never told her about killing Billy. He had been acquitted as it was self-defense. But Jesse had always promised to get him when he least expected it. He had thought he had given up when he had moved away. He had been wrong.

"So, you haven't even told your precious woman who you really are? She doesn't know you're a murderer, does she?"

"I'm sorry, baby. I moved and thought that had been left in the past. I'm not a murderer. Jesse's brother was psychotic and wouldn't leave his ex-girlfriend alone. I wound up meeting her one night at a bar. Billy didn't like that I was spending time with her. I tried to walk away but he followed me to the parking lot. The psycho pulled a knife on me. I wound up turning it on him and he died. I was acquitted."

"My brother wasn't psychotic. You were messing with his woman!" Jesse yelled.

"A woman who clearly didn't want him," Kevin spat back.

Jesse punched Kevin. Renee tried to shove Jesse with her shoulder but he just slapped her. She fell back and hit the floor. She had no way to brace herself as her hands were tied. She twisted so she hit her side. Her head hit the floor and she was seeing stars.

She felt herself being dragged across the floor. Renee tried digging her nails into the floor but all it did was make them bleed. She started to cry as it hurt like hell. She felt dizzy as he flipped her on to her back. Her hands were pinned under her and she felt the blood from her broken nails on her back.

She pulled her legs up so she could kick Jesse. He moved to the side and grabbed her ankles, pulling them down. He laid on top of her. She knew what he was going to do as soon as his hand reached in between them. She heard him unzip his pants. She began to struggle but he was too heavy and she couldn't get any leverage with her hands pinned under her.

"I like it when you struggle," he said, his hot breath in her face.

She felt him pressing against her and she screamed in his face as she head-butted him. That just made her dizzier and him angry.

    "You'll pay for that, bitch."

"Leave her alone!" Kevin yelled. "It's me you want to hurt. Not her."

"But this will hurt you and I don't like men," he laughed.

He pushed himself inside of Renee and she bit her lip until she drew blood again trying not to scream. She turned her head and saw Kevin struggling against the ropes tying him to the chair. He was screaming obscenities at Jesse and threatening to kill him.

Jesse didn't slack up but instead laughed at the pain and anger he saw on Kevin's face. Kevin wound up toppling the chair over and couldn't get himself back up. He was trying to use his toes and the side of his arm to push himself but he wasn't getting very far. Renee couldn't stop herself from crying but she would be damned if she gave him the satisfaction of screaming from the pain she felt at him ripping her apart. She grew tired from crying and where her head had been hit so much. The last sound she heard was him groaning in her ear as he came inside her. She wanted to die. Kevin kept struggling to get to Renee. He felt helpless. He couldn't even protect the love of his life from this monster. She kept looking at him through her tears, her eyes pleading for him to help her. He was moving himself a little bit but it wasn't enough. When she passed out, he was thankful because at least she wasn't experiencing wha

A month later, Jesse had gotten a fake ID for her. He had sold his car and they had taken a bus to another state. He had tied her up every time he left and duct-taped her mouth. He wouldn't stay gone long but she had tried everything to get out of the ropes each time. He hadn't beat on her like he did the first time. He would come for her and she would struggle but all he would do was slap her around or choke her almost to the point of passing out. She tried to refuse to eat but he made her. When she had missed her period, she thought it was due to the stress. Now, she was worried it was because of something else. She bit her lip as she thought about the possibility of being pregnant. Had this monster gotten her pregnant? She looked over where he was sitting on the couch in the small cabin he had rented. She had learned not to speak because that turned his attention to her and she didn't

Jesse pressed against her and she tried to get away from him, but he put his arms on either side of her so his face was right in front of hers. Her body tensed as she waited for the blows to come. It was a natural reaction for her now. He just continued to look at her and she shivered a little as his expression was dark and brooding. She couldn’t do anything but look at his face and she realized he was actually a good looking guy. If he hadn’t been a rapist, she probably would have found him attractive. “Keep running your mouth and I’m going to put it to good use. I don’t care if you like me or not. I’m still going to do what I want with you and you can either learn to enjoy it or continue to squirm. It makes no difference to me. I’m on the run for life so why not have a sex slave, too? Eventually, I’m going to have to get a job. So, you’ll have to be by yourself. If you don’t want to

Renee was taken aback by his suggestion that she would willingly stay with him, but when looking at it that way, she supposed she was willingly staying with him. There was no way she would let him kidnap her baby and take off with it. Was he planning on taking the baby and ditching her? She had to know. “What are you going to do after the baby is born?” “What do you mean?” Jesse asked. “Are you going to kill me, ditch me, what?” “I’m not going to kill you. I told you and that boyfriend of yours, I’m keeping you. You belong to me now. Plus, a baby needs its mother. We will raise the baby together, in Canada. Eventually, you will become complacent and we can have a nice, normal routine,” Jesse said as he

Over the next month, Renee and Jesse made their way across the country. Jesse had changed his mind about Canada as he said it would be easier to stay under the radar if a new citizenship didn’t pop up somewhere. They traveled from Florida to Washington state, stopping every night to get a room and sleep. Since they were backtracking now, Jesse made sure to keep away from North Carolina as best as possible. What they didn’t know was that Kevin was looking for Renee. He had grown tired of waiting for the police to do anything. They had told him that they didn’t have any new leads about what had happened to Renee. They hadn’t found any evidence of Jesse killing her in his apartment. His car was gone so they weren’t sure about what he had done. They eventually did find his car in Georgia. The police had issued the report to the Georgia police and they had searched but no one had seen Rene

Renee walked into the doctor’s office and felt nervous. She had to remember her name. The fake id she had said her name was Tabitha Monroe. Jesse had it made to match his fake id. She really hoped that he was not using the ploy of them being married but she quickly found out that is exactly what he had done. She couldn’t act strangely or people would know something was going on. She sat down in a chair and waited for Jesse to get the paperwork. He handed it to her and she just looked at it. She had to remember information that she didn’t know. She bit her lip and Jesse took it from her and started filling it out. He put her fake name on it and the address they were living at. She hadn’t even known what that was. When it came to things about her health, she put down the truth. When they called her back to the room, she stood up and looked at Jesse. He was staying sat down. She kissed his lips and said she would be back. This was just a normal checkup where a wife left her husband in

Renee had gone shopping with Jesse. He took her hand as she got out of the car. He held her hand through the store like they were an actual couple. She picked out a few items and tried them on. Jesse had her come out and show him everything she tried on. He picked out the ones he liked and paid for them. When they went back to the house, he dropped her off and left. She sighed and sat on the bed, looking at the clothes. At least he hadn’t come in and tried to sleep with her. She put her things in the dresser and went into the kitchen. She noticed the back door was ajar. She walked over to it and pushed it open. The backyard was actually pretty big. This had to be a test. Jesse had done this on purpose to see if she would try and escape. But, the urge to just sit in the sunlight was too great to resist. She had been

A few months went by and Renee had been able to go outside more when Jesse was home. A couple of times, he had left the back door unlocked and she had gone out and tended the flowers. Sometimes, he would bring flowers home for her to plant. The flower beds were weeded and watered. She would sit outside sometimes and just enjoy the smell of them. Jesse had bought a couple of chairs to sit outside. He sat out there with her often. Renee never really felt comfortable but she was starting to get into a daily routine. When she had a doctor’s appointment, he would drive her to it, and go in with her. The doctor had given her pictures of the baby. Jesse had taken her with him to the store after one of these appointments and she had looked at some of the baby items. She found a baby book that she really liked but she put it back. She had also picked up a little frame for the baby’s first pict

5 years later A raven-haired beauty with hazel eyes runs up. He smiled as he wrapped her up in his arms. He spun in circles with her in his arms as she giggled. He sat her down onto her feet and looked around at the people in the home. It had been hard the year and a half it had taken for his trial. In the end, it was worth it. It had been hard not being able to be with Renee when he’d been in the same state. She hadn’t come to see him even though he had tried to apologize to her. She never took his calls. His mother had seen her and Christian. She was going to petition for rights to see Christian and she had told Renee that. Renee had politely told her there was no need. All she had to do was tell her first and if they didn’t have anything planned, she was more than welcome to get him. She’d taken pictures of Christian and sent them to Kevin. Some of

“Why would you do that for someone who mistreated you?” “Jesse could be an asshole but he treated me prettygood over time. I loved him and I think he deserves to be withthe only family he ever had. After this is all over, I plan to returnhome, too, so I can raise our child and my son. My child will never know their father other than a grave.” George shook his head. This woman was either crazy or she really did have Stockholm syndrome. He knew she’d been in a car accident at the beginning of the year and suffered a brain injury. Had that affected her judgment that much? He needed to know what happened so he needed to get the body released. They had only held it until the fingerprints came back anyw

“Sarge, you’re going to want to see this,” Nolan said. “What is it, Nolan?” “The fingerprints are back. We had them rushed because of the missing person’s case.” George had found files in Kevin’s car that contained emails between him and a woman named Marie. It also contained a crime report involving him and a woman named Renee Kennedy. The picture showed the same woman that was at the crime scene. He’d taken her fingerprints and that of the victim, Mark Morgan. They had detained Kevin since he was inside the Morgan’s home. It had been a month and neither Kevin nor Tabitha had talked about what had happened in that house. He’d notified Kevin’s mother of what had happened as she was listed as his emergency contact. She’d notified him that he should contact Renee Kennedy

Kevin went to kick the knife out of Jesse’s hand when Jesse opened his eyes and stabbed him in the leg. Kevin cried out at the pain burning up the muscle of his leg. He hit his knees and his hand went to the knife. He pulled it out right as Jesse grabbed his collar and began punching him in the face and the side of his head. Renee didn’t know how to stop the fight. She did the only thing she could think of. She dug her phone out and called 911. “911, what’s your emergency?” “They’re going to kill each other!” Renee cried. “Ma’am, calm down. What’s your name?” Renee ignored her. She rattled off her address as she saw Jesse grab the wrist of the hand that Kevin had the knife in. He twisted the wrist unti

Renee was feeling uneasy after her meeting with Kevin. He was definitely planning something and it scared her. She didn’t want him to get hurt but she also didn’t want Jesse to know he had found them. She was definitely wondering if he already knew. She bit her lip as her thoughts turned to the darker side of how things could go down. “Mommy!” Christian yelled. “I’m sorry, Christian. I was in my thoughts. Did you say something to me?” Renee asked as she drug herself out of the bad thoughts she was having about Jesse and Kevin. “I want to go back. I want Mr. Kevin.” “I’m sorry, Christian, but that just isn’t possible. Your daddy doesn’t know that you aren’t his son. Please, promise me, baby, that you won’t te

“Deal,” Jesse said as he kissed and hugged her. Renee sighed and walked away to find Christian. She’d take him to dinner and a movie tonight. He had been begging to go see Tom and Jerry. Since this was their night, she’d take him out for a happy meal and ice cream too. She wondered if he’d like putt-putt golf. She hadn’t played it since she was little but it might be something he’d enjoy. They could get breakfast, play a couple of games, and then go to the park for an hour or so. With her plans set in her mind, she went to find Christian. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kevin pulled out his pocket knife and sharpened it. He’dthought about this day long and hard. “What do you mean, ‘thank God you’re awake’? How long have I been asleep?” “Two days. It’s Tuesday. My boss wasn’t thrilled that I missed two days but I explained what happened.” “Where’s Christian?” Renee asked. “I took him to Nancy’s after we realized you weren’t waking up when the nurse came to check on you. You’ve been moaning and thrashing in your sleep every so often.” “Oh. Was I talking in my sleep at all?” “Not while I was awake. Why? “Will you, um, will you come let the guard rail down? I need to go to the bathroom,” Renee said as her cheeks reddened. “Sure. No need to be embarrassed, baby.” “That wasn’t really what I wanted but I do need to go.” Jesse put the bed rail down and helped Renee up. She leaned on him to catch her bearings. She went to the bathroom and came out. He could tell by the look on her face that she was still confused about what was happening. She regained some of her memories if not all of them, but had she forgotten the ones after the accident? “Do you want to tell me what you really wanted now?” Renee’s cheeks turned red again but she held her arms out.

  • My Running Nightmare   Chapter 129

Jesse sat out in the waiting room with Christian as they waited for the doctors to run tests. Christian had finally settled down and stopped crying. He was sitting in Jesse's lap sucking his thumb. He had started that back up after Renee had been in the accident. Now every time he was extremely stressed, that thumb was back in his mouth. It agitated Jesse somewhat but he let it go because he knew he was trying to comfort himself against what was happening with his mom. It had been hours since Renee had been brought in and no one had updated him yet. Jesse stroked Christian’s hair absentmindedly until he saw the doctor come out. Dr. Getty walked up to him and held out his hand. Jesse took it and shook it. The doctor had a neutral look on his face. “Mr. Morgan, we meet again. I wish it was under better circumstances,” Dr. Get
