I quickly hid in a room to the side of the stairs. They never used this room much for anything, it was across the hall from Beta Michael’s office. I knew this house like the back of my hand, Sarah and I had spent many days running through these halls as children. The door to Beta Michael’s office was closed, which meant he was in a meeting.
Just then, the door to the room flung open, and Jackson walked in. “Well, well, looks like we have a little spy here.” He moved closer as I backed up against the wall. He had an angry grin on his face. “You like what you saw? That could have easily been you if you wouldn’t have rejected me all those times.” His grin disappeared and pure anger took its place.
“I-I-I di-didn’t mean to, the d-d-door-” I stuttered out.
“Oh, just spit it out Emily.” Jackson rolled his eyes, he was standing right infront of me now. His eyes roamed up and down my body, making me feel uncomfortable. “Just be happy that it was me, and not Sarah, that came down here. I understand she already gave you a nice ‘talking to’ earlier.” He reached out and rubbed his thumb against the bruise on my face.
“Why Sarah?” He laughed at my question. “She was my best friend.” He took his hand from my face and looked at me with disbelief.
“Seriously Emily?” He laughed and shrugged. “Why not her? She’s a good lay. Something I clearly never got from you.” I looked at his face. It was not the same, sweet boy that I had dated for four years, the same boy I once loved.
“How long?” I asked, unsure if I really wanted to know the answer.
“Oh, lets see,” he contemplated, “about three and a half years.” he laughed, “I’m honestly surprised you never found out.”
I felt the tears build in my eyes as he spoke. “Our whole relationship was a joke.”
“Do you even know what it was like for me, Emily, to get turned on every time I was around you, when I kissed you, only to be constantly rejected?” he shook his head and when he looked at me again I could see anger in his face. “That is not going to happen anymore.”
He grabbed my arm and turned me around, pushing me against the wall. With his other hand I could hear him unzip his pants. “Jackson! What are you doing?!”
“Something I have always wanted to do, taking what is rightfully mine. Now shut up and be a good Sigma bitch.” He lifted the hem of my dress up to my waist.
“HELP!” I screamed as loud as I could, hoping someone would hear me.
Jackson smacked my head against the wall, “I told you to be quiet!”
I could feel blood trickle out of my nose. The metallic taste hit my lips as the door to the room flew open. “What is going on here?” I heard a deep male voice say.
“None of your business Lucas, leave us be,” Jackson replied.
“Please!” I cried through the tears, hoping the man who entered might see this is not mutual.
Just then, as if my prayers had been answered, Jackson is thrown off of me. I fall to the ground trembling as the tall man stands between us facing Jackson. “You better get out of here before I rip you apart!”
“Get out of the way!” I heard Jackson yell at the stranger in front of me. He was tall, easily six feet, and blocked Jackson’s small 5’7” frame. “This is none of your business.”
“Yeah, you said that already,” I heard the man say. His voice was deep, masculine, and calm. He was soothing to listen to. “You see the problem is, when I hear a woman scream for help, it becomes my business.”
Jackson scoffed, “you think that because you are the guest of the Alpha, that you can come in here and do whatever you want? I was just showing this Sigma here where her place is.” He gestures to me, still hidden behind the stranger “she deserves everything she gets.”
“So she deserves to be humiliated and raped?” The stranger shook his head as he retorted back, “I’m a guest of this house. His eyes went back to Jackson. “You would find it in your best interest to leave, you wouldn’t want things to get out of hand in the house of the Beta.” Jackson took a few steps back and I was now able to see his face. He looked angrier than before. He scoffed at Lucas, “this isn’t over,” and turned, leaving the room.
I turned back to the man in front of me as he crouched down. He has soft golden brown eyes and looked at me with sincere concern. He wiped the blood from just under my nose. “Are you alright?”
I couldn’t speak, all I could do was nod. He was mere inches from my face and I could smell his scent. The earthy, wooded scent of sandalwood filled my nose and began to drive me crazy. It took everything I had not to jump him right in this moment. From the look he gave me, I knew he could read exactly how I was feeling. It was as if he felt it too.
“I am Lucas.” He says in a soft spoken deep voice as he holds his hand out. I took it and instantly felt electricity run through my entire body. He pulled me up to my feet so that I was standing in front of him. He really was tall. My 5’6” self barely came up to his chest. His dirty blonde hair was neatly styled and he had on a business suit. He must have been who Beta Michael was in a meeting with.
“Mate.”
The words came out of my mouth faster than I could even think to say them. I jumped back at the realization. It’s not possible for this man to be my mate, Sigmas don’t have mates, they don’t even have wolves.
Lucas looked into my eyes with the same intensity that I felt. He could feel it too. These feelings were real, we were meant to be together. He backed me up against the wall, his eyes never leaving mine. He leaned in as I involuntarily leaned forward. The connection our lips made sent electricity scorching through my body. My hands snaked around his neck as I pulled him closer, deepening the kiss. His arms wrapped around my torso as he pulled me close to him. Our lips parted as our tongues began to dance with each other. I have never experienced a kiss that intense before, not even Jackson could kiss like that. Almost as soon as the kiss started, it was over. Lucas quickly dropped my hand and drew back from me, turning and leaving me standing in the room alone.
Lucas’s P.O.V.“Calm down Lucas.” My wolf, Jace, yelled at me. “We just need to regroup and re-strategize, not everything is lost.” He was always my conscience, much like Jiminy Cricket. He always knew how to reason with me and calm me down, without him I’d be lost.“How can I be calm, I wasn’t supposed to find her here, I wasn’t supposed to have a mate!” I run my fingers through my head as I pace back and forth through the gardens at the Cranston Estate, the home of the Beta and his family. I was invited to dinner tonight as a guest after our meeting had ended. Having the respect of both the Beta and the Alpha will make my plan go a lot smoother, at least this will mean that neither of them will suspect anything and my plan will play out. Right now, it is very
Emily’s P.O.VThe dinner went smoothly, until I saw him at the table. I fought everything I had to keep my cool and do my job. Serving a family that was once my equal, or better yet, below my status, is humiliating in its own right. But, to have my mate see me at these low standards is just plain out torture. Goddess only knows what he is thinking of me right now, especially with how he ran out of the room earlier this afternoon.I struggled to keep my need for him down. My face felt heated, I had a hard time concentrating on anything but him. That’s when I noticed what had just happened. As the desserts were being brought out, I was pouring the tea when I heard a scream. Before I had a chance to notice what ha
Lindsay’s P.O.VThis is it. I knew as a Sigma, my life would probably be short, but for it to end this early at a mere 23 years old? Eh, I guess I lived enough. The police threw us into the back of the car, they weren’t very gentle at all, but what could be expected of them? We were Sigmas. We almost got away with it too, it would have been epic. Steal all the food to feed our own? But it is what it is. I couldn’t blame Emily for moving. Though I am still unsure what had gotten into her. She seemed really bothered by Sarah and this Bryce character. I know she hated Sarah, that would be reason enough, but it was if she was almost jealous.I glanced over at Emily, she was sitting with her head down and her eyes closed. “Hey chick, it will be oka
Emily’s P.O.V.“Get up!”I heard a voice yell out to me. This voice was different. It wasn’t off in the distance, in the crowd of people surrounding me. It was closer, as if it was a part of me.“GET UP!”I heard it again, this time it was more stern. I used all the strength I had left in me to push myself up. I wobbled as I stood.“Steady now.”I heard the voice again, this time in a calm gentle manor, almost like a mother speaking to her child.“Look, everyone is staring at us.&nb
I can see everyone’s faces. Their looks of astonishment, fear, jealousy, and anger. The way my pack turned on me. I remember my wolf. Zara.My eyes shot open. It seemed as if it all could have been a dream, but was it? I sat up, feeling a little weak.“Woah, not so fast!” I heard a female voice. I looked around to see where the voice was coming from but I was alone.“You won’t find me out there,” the voice said laughing.“Who are you?”“I am Zara, your wolf.” She must have felt the shock that had taken over me because she began laughing. “I know what you’re thinking, but E
Eighteen is supposed to be special for us girls. Especially us girls in a werewolf pack. It marks us becoming an adult, when we are finally able to find our mates. That is exactly how I felt waking up on my eighteenth birthday. However, that excitement, the special feeling, did not last.My life was perfect, I was Emily Ravenport, daughter of Alpha Eric Ravenport and Luna Aria Ravenport of the Crescent Moon Pack, and in my parent’s eyes I could do no wrong. I woke up that morning excited with the prospects of finally finding my mate. I had been waiting my whole life for this moment. It would be special, our scents would hit each other’s noses, our eyes would lock, and we would just know. Mates. Tonight was the mating ceremony, tonight I would find my mate and I already had one person in mind: Jackson Ledger.
My phone rang as I sifted through my closet, looking for something to wear.“Happy Birthday Bestie!” Sarah, my best friend, exclaimed“Thank you! I need your help, it’s a fashion emergency!” I laughed as I turned my camera view to my closet, “what do I wear to a mating ritual?”“Well my dear friend, you came to the right person.” she squints her eyes looking at outfits I pull out. “Mating rituals are normally basic. You will be shifting, so the less clothes the better.”“Yes, but I still want to look hot!” I remark. “It is my birthday after all.” She laughs at me shaking her head.
Two weeks later…..I am still not sure how it happened. It is all a blur to me, the mating ritual, the heat. The whole thing seemed like a dream, more like a nightmare, one I still can’t seem to wake up from. Everything and everyone I had ever known had been ripped from me, and now I am forced to live my life as a Sigma, a slave to the pack. The once highly respected Alpha’s daughter, now nothing.Everyone has been making my life harder too. Sarah is constantly finding ways to torment me. I was assigned to work as a slave at the Beta house. I start at five in the morning, and leave around ten at night. I never have a day off and never have a break.
