Chapter 3: Kaiser 

Flashback.

Kaiser’s POV.

I was never angrier in all my existence. 

My dad, the alpha of the Crimson Lycan Pack, decided to personally go to the Blue Moon Pack to ask their alpha to join our empire, so he had to hook me along.

I hated the feeling of being caged, and that was all my dad loved doing.

I could hear them both insulting themselves; it seemed like the blue moon pack alpha wasn't giving in. I knew it was going to become lousy, and so I decided to stay aside.

If it was something I hated most, then it would be going out and letting people see me. I was stronger than most, but hiding was my superpower. 

They were into some kind of black market dealings, which was against the rules, and my dad had some kind of relationship with the alpha's late mate.

They both lost control and attacked each other. The two had to be separated by their Betas, and it took two more warriors to hold my dad back.

I could hear his thoughts; he really wanted to kill.

Instead of going to the car, I shifted and ran through the jungles. I was tired. 

I ran, my powerful muscles rippling beneath my clothes, ebony fur that glistened white in the moonlight. My red eyes scanned the surroundings with predatory focus, alert to every sound and scent that wafted in the air.

I darted between ancient trees, leaping over fallen branches. My fangs glistened as I occasionally peeled my lips to snarl.

Just then I picked up a smell wafting in the forest—of melting chocolates and mint.

I froze and came to a dead stop. My wolf let out a low growl. I veered to the right to chase that smell. I sprinted, my amber eyes remained fixed on an unseen destination, driven by an inner purpose known by only my wolf.

Soon, I came to a stop in the middle of the night at the back of a lodge nestled in a grove, my eyes fixed on a window that was open in the backyard.

I shifted back into my human form. Pulling a pant from the washing line, I prowled in the lodge, padding like a predator, stopping only in front of a room where the smell was strong. I opened the door and walked inside the room.

No, it couldn't be.

After years of hunting.

To many, I was 23, but if you were to calculate how long I had lived, you'd lose count.

After years of being cursed, I found my mate.

Mine!

I saw her sleeping body; it seemed restless. Her body was flushed. Her hands folded around her breasts as her body arched. She let out a soft moan and whimpered. "Ella, come back," she murmured.

Mate.

My wolf growled.

Mine.

Before I could control it, I slid beside her. I shuddered when I first touched her as delightful tingles ran down my body.

She stirred; her eyes barely opened. "You came..." she murmured as she stirred. She turned over, wrapping her arms around me in a warm embrace, and buried her face in my chest.

On an instinct, I wrapped his arm around her and pulled her closer. A smile ghosted on her lips, and she kissed me. Fuck. My pants became tight as my erection swelled.

"You are mine!" I growled.

"I know..."

I captured her lips in a sizzling kiss. The first kiss with my mate

"What's your name?" I breathed. 

She was in the alpha's house. What was her relationship with them? My wolf was furious. I wanted to take her away.

She chuckled. "Gosh, I'm your Gwen... lost your memory? You smell different..." She didn't open her eyes; she just smiled.

Wait, she thought I was someone else?

I could feel; I was about to lose myself to my wolf after a thousand years.

Without another word, I left, running as fast as I could to the car.

“Drive.” Thankfully, my dad... No, I'd say the guardian was already in the car.

“Fuck these people. I'm getting my mate back.”

After I explained to the alpha, his perfect plan was to go to the pack undercover to get evidence of their shady dealings; that way I'd get my mate back.

“There's a gamma contest going on. You can use that as your key code; knowing you, I know you don't have to do too much to get the position.”

I looked at my guardian, Jeff and sighed.

“I didn't give up being an alpha to get into an A+ spying business... but my mate is involved, so I think I've got no choice.”

I wasn't going to get involved, but since my mate was involved, I didn't mind this getting bloody.

Me being a spy was going well. The only thing I hated was the fact that my mate was with someone who wanted to use her for power, but I made a vow that as soon as I was done, his head would roll.

Ryker was an asshole, and after I found out that Gwen caught him cheating, I was somewhat happy but was still worried as hell since she ran away and I didn't still know where she was.

My phone rang, shrill in the silence of the night. I answered, my voice low. "Yes?"

"My King," the voice on the other end said with urgency. "We tracked your mate, Gwen. She's in trouble."

My heart clenched, wolf instincts on high alert. "What's happening?"

“A lady, Nicole or so, has taken her. We're not sure why, but our sources indicate she's being held captive."

"Location?"

"An abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the pack. Be cautious, My King. We've detected many guards."

"I'm on my way." I ended the call, already moving as I tapped on my phone, calling my guardian, Jeff.

"Jeff, it's Gwen. She's in trouble," I said, my voice was tight.

“Send me the location; I'd come with you."

He said it from the other side of the call.

“No need, stay. I don't know how to cover up your being there.” I rolled my eyes as I got into the car and drove out.

“No, I can't risk it; I'd be there.” Jeff continued.

"Gosh, Jeff, don't reap me off. Stay, it's an order.” I growled.

"Yes, my king.” I ended the phone.

I sped through the night, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. I could feel Gwen's fear.

I arrived at the warehouse, I shifted into my wolf form, and I tracked Gwen's scent, my heart was pounding louder than the noise the guards were making as they walked out.

A growl ripped from my throat as I saw her, bound and gagged. The place was lit up already in flames. 

“Please be okay.” It felt like a thousand needles were being pierced into my heart as I ran to her.
