I set down the last box in my new apartment. I can’t help but sigh. I would have never guessed that this is where I would be when I turn 28. However, what can I do, when I can’t stand to be in my own home anymore. Everything is just a sad reminder of what I used to have and what I was hoping the future would be.
I sigh again as I look around the living room. The room is so bare compared to what I’m used to having. Well, it does have furniture which is a little old and warn since it came with the place. The walls, however, are completely bare and so is the coffee table. There isn’t one single piece of décor and I don’t plan on changing that. I don’t have a clue what to do when it comes to décor and decorating a home. That was my mate’s job, and she did an amazing job at it too.
Our home always would look and feel so warm and cozy. I can’t forget that it felt like home.
Definitely, she would have never allowed anything like this to happen, but she isn’t here anymore.
Oh, I have to stop thinking about her.
I glance around at the boxes scattered everywhere as I blink trying to keep the tears from spilling over. I take a deep breath. Oh, I have to put all this away in the next couple of days before I start my new job.
I don’t think Alpha Wyatt could believe that I even volunteered for this job. Well, I have to admit that I’m a little surprised too. Unfortunately, I need a change of scenery, but I never could have dreamt that I would move completely out of Sun Moon pack.
Back then, I had been toying with asking to move to another apartment, but when Alpha Wyatt was asking for someone to get a job at Bangkok University to provide an additional person in the human world, I couldn’t help but jump at the opportunity.
Well, I am qualified. I have all the necessary degrees, so why not. It is like killing two birds with one stone. Not only do I get a change of scenery, but I also can help send information back to Alpha Wyatt about things that I see and hear in the human world. However, I don’t think that there is much going on in the human world now, but I may be surprised.
I scan the various boxes once again. Where do I start?
After a few moments, I decide to head for the kitchen. I’ll start in there before moving onto the other boxes. Luckily, I didn’t bring a whole lot of things. I left most of my things back at the pack house. I brought only the things that I knew that I would need.

I walk briskly through the corridors of the university. Even though I wish I didn’t, I have a meeting with the department heads soon. As I glance down at my watch, I slow down my steps slightly since I’m not running as late as I thought I was. I look back up and ignore the staff and students walking past me.
I have tried many times in the last two weeks to be able to smile at people, but I still can’t do it. Without May, my mate, here, I just can’t find anything to smile about. However, it hasn’t take long for the students and staff to begin calling me cold and on occasion heartless. If they only knew that my heart left me when May died, they would understand. But I’m not here to be friends with the students, I’m here to run the university effectively and efficiently, and if that means that people call me names, then so be it.
With the same emotionless face that I always have, I walk into the meeting room and bark, “I have another meeting right after this. If everyone is here, let’s begin.”
Everyone instantly scurries to their seats around the long conference table, and the room becomes quiet. I march to the head of the table and as I take my seat, I say, “Welcome everyone. I assume that you have all prepared for this meeting.”
I glance around the table before my eyes land on the head of the business department. While staring at the middle-aged man with a plump belly and thinning brown hair, I continue, “Mr. Smith, I believe you are up first. Where do you want to begin? Your department’s budget or the curriculum?”
Mr. Smith shuffles the papers in front of him as he nervously shifts around in his seat. He clears his throat before he replies, “T.Thank you, D.Dean Hanson. I b.believe that I’ll start with the b.b.budget first.”
I listen intently as Mr. Smith speaks. However, in the back of my mind I wish I could fast forward to the end all these meetings. I never thought when I agreed to take this position that I would be in meeting after meeting.
I still haven’t figured out why we have to have so many meetings.
After two hours, Fai, my secretary, enters the room, as another department head is discussing that department’s budget.
Cough. Cough.
The discussion immediately stops, and all eyes turn towards the door and focus on Fai. With a stern face, she looks across the table at me and chimes, “Dean Hanson, you need to leave now so you can make your meeting with the President of SM University.”
I gather my things, and as I stand up, I announce, “We will pick up where we left off at our next meeting. Next time let’s try to get through all the departments without going over 2 hours. I have been here for two weeks now and we aren’t anywhere closer to being able to finish this meeting in my 2 hours slot. We have to do better. Next week’s meeting must be completed within the allotted 2 hours or I’ll have to take appropriate action to make sure that we can reach our goal. Thank you and good day.”
Not waiting for any response, I walk out of the meeting room and head down the hallway with Fai right beside me. Before I can ask anything, Fai chimes, “The President of SM University is already here and is waiting for you in your office. I told him that it would be a few minutes while I retrieved you from another meeting in another building. He seemed fine with that.”
I simply nod as we continue down the corridor towards the entrance of the building.
In the two weeks that I’ve been here, Fai and I have managed to work out a system with each other. Most of the time, I don’t even have to say anything, and she knows what I need.
I put my hand out in front of her. Without being instructed, she pulls an apple out of her bag and sits it on my open palm.
As I take a bite of the apple, Fai rattles off my schedule for the rest of the day. “You have one hour scheduled with the President of SM University. Then at 4pm, you are supposed to meet with the Dean of Engineering to review and approve the hazing trip. At 5pm, you have another meeting with the manager of the alumni association to discuss their request to use an area on campus for an alumnus gathering. Then…”
I cut her off. I have heard enough, and I thought I had asked her to stop scheduling things on top of each other. “First off, I’m not even going to ask why I have meetings back-to-back. I don’t care why this happened. However, it isn’t going to happen in the future. For the alumni association, I’m not going to meet with them until they have presented me with their proposal. Once we have a formal proposal, then I can meet with them, but not before.”
Fai replies, “I will let them know.”
As we walk out of the building and along the sidewalk back to my office, I continue, “Same goes for the Dean of Engineering. I know that this is time sensitive. I will meet with him this once, but going forward, I’m not going to meet on anything without a proper proposal or documents being sent to me first. While I’m meeting with the President of SM University, get whatever documents the Dean of Engineering has regarding the trip. I’ll try looking at them prior to my meeting with him.”
Fai nods and replies, “I will contact him as soon as we get back to your office.”
I take a bite of the apple and sigh.
Fai glances towards me and asks, “Is there something wrong, Dean Hanson?”
My attention turns towards my office building which is now in view. “I know that things were done very differently before, but I don’t run things like that. I hate being in meetings all day long. It doesn’t give me the opportunity to do what I need to do to get this university ahead. In the two weeks that I’ve been here, I feel that the majority of meetings can be eliminated if the proper documents are turned into my office first. I find it more effective and efficient if the proposals, requests and whatever they are wanting to do is handled through the documents than sitting around a table all the time talking. Not that I’m against talking. But I am against wasting time, which appears to have been happening a lot with the previous Dean.”
She doesn’t hesitate when she replies, “You are correct about the previous Dean. I will try my best to get the departments to understand and follow the new guidelines and expectations.”
I take another bite of my apple and mumble, “Thanks.”
Fai raises an eyebrow and tilts her head. However, she doesn’t say anything.
***
I almost sprint into my office. It has been two weeks since I’ve seen him. This has been the longest time in our lives that we have been away from each other.
Wyatt is pacing back and forth, but instantly stops when I enter the room.
At the same time, we both call out to each other.
“Wyatt.”
“Theo.”
Fai nearly stands frozen in the doorway. For the first time since I have started working, a small smile appears on my face. Her mild shock quickly turns into complete shock when I march right up to Wyatt and engulf him in a hug.
I can’t control myself as I happily chime, “It is so good to see you cous. I miss you.”
Wyatt smiles and pats my back. “I’ve missed you too. You know that I’ve never been away from you for so long. I first lose Phillip and now I’ve lost you too.”
My eyes instantly begin to glisten when Wyatt mentions Phillip. Even though May and Phillip didn’t pass away from the same thing. They both did pass away around the same time. Wyatt knew exactly what I was going through. Truth be told, I think that if he could have run away from the pack, he would have done exactly what I’ve done. However, being the alpha of the pack doesn’t allow him the luxury to ignore his responsibilities. So, unfortunately for him, he must stay with the pack and continue to lead.
After a few minutes locked in a hug, we finally let each other go.
Cough. Cough.
Wyatt and I turn towards the door to find Fai standing there staring at us. With a faint smile on my face, I point to Wyatt and chime, “He is my cousin, Wyatt, and the President of SM University.”
Fai smiles and nods.
I then turn towards Wyatt and point at Fai. “Wyatt this is my secretary Fai.”
Wyatt smiles and chimes, “It is nice to formally meet you. I hope my cousin hasn’t been causing too many problems for you.”
Fai shakes her head. “No. He has caused a few ruffles though, but they weren’t anything that wasn’t already needed.”
She turns towards me. “I’ll let you know as soon as the documents from the Dean of Engineering arrive.”
I nod and say, “Thank you.”
She turns and walks out of the room. After she steps out of my office, she stops and closes the door behind her.
Wyatt immediately turns towards me and asks, “So, have you found anything interesting so far?”
Even though Theo told Fai that he doesn’t want meetings late, it doesn’t mean that Theo doesn’t end up working late. He is happy that Fai has been able to stop the meetings at 5pm, but he wishes that there is a way for him to get through the work faster. He still can’t figure out how the previous Dean was able to have all those silly meetings and still have time to do his own work. Theo has a hunch that the previous Dean had other people doing the work for him though. There is no way that he could be doing stuff, like Theo does, and have all those meetings.Theo’s stomach suddenly growls.Well, he guesses that is his cue to go get something to eat and go home. He still hasn’t really cooked anything at home yet. He doesn’t have the time. Similar to the fact that Theo doesn’t have enough time to do all this work. Ugh….Before his stomach growls again,
Luckily, the restaurant isn’t too far from the university. I have heard about this area. A lot of the students talk about it, but I’m always too focused on studying and getting good grades, that I don’t take the time to visit the area or even go out to restaurants much. Not only does it take my time away from studying, but it also takes money, which I’m very tight with. I have only so much that I can spend, and I don’t waste any on fancy meals at restaurants. The main reason that I have agreed to come tonight, besides Noah pestering me, is that he has promised to pay for my meal. Now, who could turn that down.As we sit by the restaurant’s front windows, Noah keeps glancing out and looking up and down the street, like he is waiting for someone. I furrow my eyebrows and lightly tap on the table. “Are you going to tell me why we just had to come to this restaurant tonight?”
BAM!I slam my hand down on the conference room table and slowly stand up from my seat, while I glare at the department heads sitting around the table. I have had enough. With my blood boiling and steam coming out my ears, I hiss, “I said that we have to keep these meetings to a two-hour limit. I wasn’t joking. I have been here for several months now and this isn’t anything new. You have had enough time to be able to adjust to my request. Wait. Not request. It is a demand, which I expect everyone to be able to accomplish.”I point to the clock on the wall. “LOOK AT THE TIME! We have been in here for two hours, and we aren’t even halfway through all the departments. I have stated many times that all budget requests must be provided to me prior to the meetings.”BAM!I slam my hand down on the table again. This is it. They ha
Ring….ring….ring….I tear my eyes off of the reports and computer monitor as I glance at my phone on my desk. My scowl is quickly replaced with a smile when I see Wyatt’s name flashing across my phone.Oh, it has been a while since I’ve been able to see him or even talk to him. I think the last time was when he came here for that meeting and that was weeks ago.I grab my phone and happily chime, “Hello, cous. How are things over there?”Wyatt’s cheery voice spills from my phone. “Hey, cous. Things are looking up here. How about you?”Wait. Looking up. Does that mean what I think it means? However, if I’m wrong, I don’t want to make him sad either. I guess I’ll just have to wait and let him tell me in his own time.I lean back in my office chair and push the documents across my desk and away from m
Noah huffs, “When are we going to celebrate us graduating? It has been over a week now, and we haven’t gone out to have a drink with our friends. I want to go and have some fun. After all those years of studying, we deserve at least one night of fun. Come on.” I continue to scan through the job postings online. It has been a week since classes have ended, but that doesn’t mean that I haven’t been busy. Besides making sure that the Dean has food every day, I have been looking for a job. However, I’m quickly finding out that it isn’t as easy as what I thought it would be. Most companies don’t want to hire someone with a doctorate degree. They are happy to hire someone with a master degree, but they don’t want to pay that additional money for the higher degree. I’m actually starting to get a little worried. What am I going to do to if I can’t find a job right away? Do I move back home to my parents’
Tyler knows that he shouldn’t have agreed to go out with Noah last night. Noah has kept giving him drink after drink and for some reason, Tyler isn’t arguing with him. However, this morning, Tyler’s head throbs as if the university’s whole marching band is inside his skull performing one for him. Not to mention, the dull ringing in his ears. Tyler stumbles out of bed. If he couldn’t remember all the events from the previous night, he would swear that he has run a marathon instead of him clubbing. Somehow, he manages to stagger his way to the bathroom and find some medicine. But his hands tremble as he drops a couple of pills in his hand that he almost drops them down the drain. He isn’t going to mention the fact that the room seems to be spinning or that everything is slightly fuzzy. He has to go back to bed. Noah is going to pay for this. *** This morning has been a good morning. F
It has been several days now and I’m not getting better. To be honest, I’m actually getting worse. My body aches, and I’m cold even with multiple blankets covering me. I can’t hardly get out of my bed on my own to go to the bathroom. There is no way that I can even think about going to a restaurant to buy myself a meal. However, even if I could drag my feet out of my apartment in the hunt for some food, I’m not hungry. Everything tastes bland. Nothing even sounds good.I shiver under the blankets as the soft click of a door shutting drifts into my room.My eyes drift across the room towards the window. However, instead of sunlight spilling through the glass, darkness is the only thing that I can see. What time is it?My eyes slowly drift back to my nightstand and my phone. I want to reach out and check the time, but I also don’t want the cold
I bolt through the trees and around some boulders. With each stride, I pound the ground a little harder. The wind whips through my fur as my claws dig into the ground. This is long overdue. I should have found a way to get out to the timber sooner and run for a bit. I wish that the timber around this university could be as expansive as the timber around SM University or even my pack. However, I can’t complain. I have to make by with what I’ve got.I still don’t know why I’m so upset and irritated. What I do know is that it has been a couple of days that the mysterious food lady has stopped bringing me food. To be exact, it has been 5 days. That is almost a week!Where is she?If she has decided to stop bringing me food, she should have given me a note the last time that she snuck food into my office. But she hasn’t brought me anything. No food.
Tyler and I walk out of another university meeting with all the departments heads. After several years, they are finally listening to me and doing what I ask in order to speed the meetings along. It was a rough first year though, but they all have ended up coming around. I think they probably got tired of fighting. I’m not going to back down from my policies and procedures, no matter who they know or how they have gotten their title. None of that matters to me. In addition, I think it have surprised them that I didn’t let Alpha Marcus bully me to get his way. The previous dean had bent as soon as Alpha Marcus applied some pressure, but I didn’t. Well, Alpha Marcus did try, but he had no idea who he was messing with. Still to this day, none of Alpha Marcus’ pack know that Tyler and I are part of the Sun Moon pack, which gives us a leg up. Well, it doesn’t really matter now whether we have a leg up or
Tyler POV I stretch my arms out in front of me while I look at them. I still can’t believe that there was black fur there only a few minutes ago. I really did it. I shifted. I can’t lie. It hurt even more than I thought it would. Man, that hurt like hell. Theo walks up behind me and wraps his arms around my stomach. “Hey, what are you looking at?” A small smile dances across my face as I continue to stare at my arms. “I still can’t believe it. Just a few moments ago, I had fur all over my body and now, it is all gone.” A soft chuckle rolls out of my mate’s mouth as he leans against my back while he tightens his arms around my waist. “Baby, that is what a werewolf does. You are now a full-blooded werewolf and when needed, you will grow gorgeous black fur along with some sharp fangs and a tail. You better get used to it, because you will be a
Tyler POV I tentatively look around the small group. We are the only ones standing in the middle of the field, which is exactly how I want it to be. The elders are here too, but I guess I don’t have any choice on them being here or not. Wyatt smiles at me before he glances around the group. “It is time. Let’s form a small circle. Kane and I, along with Theo, will stand closer to Tyler, just in case we are needed.” He turns back to the Supreme Elder, “Is there anything that we are missing?” The Supreme Elder smiles and glances at me before she turns back to him. “No. The people that need to be here are here. We just need to give Tyler the strength to go through his first shift.” I bite my lower lip. My first shift. My mate has even confessed to me that it hurts the first time, but after that the wolf handles the pain and you don’t really feel it. However, m
Tyler POVI look around but I don’t see anything. I know that I’m not awake, but where am I.I continue to look around, but I still don’t see anything. However, I could swear that I see something all black moving, but I’m not sure exactly what it is.As I try to figure out what it is, a soft chuckle fills the air. “You don’t know who I am. Do I have to really tell you who I am?”I don’t have to try and catch the movement again. Right in front of me, a big black wolf steps out of the shadows and stands right in full view. However, I’m not shocked or even afraid of it. Strangely, I’m comfortable.A smile appears on my face as I stare at the big wolf. “No, you don’t have to tell me who you are. You are my wolf, but I don’t know your name. Wait. Do you even have a name?”
I rush into my apartment. I breathe a sigh of relief when Finn and Tommy look up at me from the couch and shake their head, letting me know that Tyler is still asleep. I’m so happy I have gotten here in time. The downside is I’m still a little tense from having that meeting with Alpha Marcus. I know I was briefed on what the man was like, but that didn’t prepare me for what I actually discovered while talking to him. I didn’t even have to look into his mind to see the arrogance and mightier than thou attitude. I think people on the moon could see it. I’m not surprised when I actually did take a few moments to look into his mind and see exactly what he is doing. However, mindlinking with Wyatt and Uncle Seth, while I was leaving the office, didn’t help to relax me either. That man just infuriates me. There is no way I will sit back and let him try to take control of the werewolf community.&nbs
I still can’t believe what Wyatt has told me. Tyler is a dormant werewolf, who because of Wyatt and Kane’s healing is now transforming into an actual werewolf.I knew that our pack possessed powers greater than what we could ever imagine, but this is something that not even I could have thought about. I can’t say that I’m not happy. I would take Tyler in any form, but I’m ecstatic that he will actually be a werewolf soon. I’m just hoping that he also gets his wolf soon. I wonder when we can start mind linking to each other.I’m brought out of my thoughts as Fai walks into my office and chimes, “Sir, your appointment is here.”I look up at her and nod.I really don’t want to be here, but this appointment can’t be changed. He insists on having a face to face meeting. I have asked my cousin and Tyler if it is all right, along the Supr
Tyler POVI slowly flutter my eyes open.My body isn’t sore at all, and my energy is back up to normal. I don’t even have to ask, Wyatt and Kane must have been here while I was sleeping. I usually walk up at the end of their healing treatment, but I slept right through it today. My eyes instantly travel to the living room, where Theo is sitting and working again. I swear that is all he does is work. Well, that is until he sees me.A faint smile spreads across my face as my eyes are locked on him.Instantly, my body begins to warm up and a burning desire starts building deep inside of me. I don’t know what is happening to me, but if it means that I can have my sexy mate make love to me over and over again, I’m not going to complain. However, at some point, I know that this has to end. The bonding process will be complete, and we can go back to how we
I sigh in relief when Wyatt and Kane show up within only minutes. I know that they have plenty to do and a lot on their plate, but my parents just won’t listen to me. It always takes either Wyatt or his father to get through to my parents.I still don’t know why they are like this. Aren’t werewolf parents supposed to know when to ask questions and when not to? Or even what proper etiquette is? I guess my parents skipped out on those lessons when they were growing up.Before Wyatt can even knocks, I open the door. I lean towards him and softly mumble, “Thanks,” as Wyatt and Kane walk into my apartment. I don’t know what Wyatt has told Kane about my parents, but I hope he has given him the full story and not just a partial one. You have to be fully prepared when dealing with my parents.Wyatt smiles and gently taps my shoulder but walks past me to the couch, where my pa
I stare down at Tyler sleeping peacefully in my arms. This is a first. Tyler is a human, and he shouldn’t have gone into a heat, but he did. I’m going to have to ask the elders if this has ever happened before. Maybe it is because Wyatt and Kane have been healing him every day. I’m not sure, but it could be possible. However, I have to admit that he has turned me on even more than I already am. The look of lust in his eyes while he was moaning my name instantly made my body and my wolf want him.I gently kiss the top of his head and softly whisper, “Tyler, I love you.”In his sleep, Tyler replies, “I love you too, Theo.”***Ring…ring…ring….ring….ring…Ugh. What time is it?With Tyler still in my arms and while I’m still half asleep, I grab my phone off the nightstand. Without looking at
