Elias POV:

I frowned; I would kill her if she dared to challenge me like that. But when I saw Serena's tearful, expectant eyes, my heart was crushed. I glanced at her coldly. "This is not difficult. If what you say is true, then I will spare your life. But if you lie, the most terrible death awaits you."

Stella's trembling voice rang out. "I do not know much. I just overheard my parents' conversation before..." Stella was silent momentarily; her throat was seriously damaged, so her pronunciation was no longer clear.

"Get her a glass of water," Serena said to the guard beside her.

I saw her shoulders were shaking, too. I put my arm around Serena's shoulders to make her feel more secure.

For many days, Stella did not eat properly. She gulped it down as soon as she could hold a glass of water. After drinking, she looked up at Serena with an unwilling expression. "I didn't expect that one day I would have to wait for you to give me alms."
