Chapter 23

Serena's POV:

I don't know when I became so lazy; I slept until noon without bothering to get up until the sun reached the top of my head to get out of bed. My ankle is swollen more than last night; I can't walk; I can only hop into the toilet.

Standing in front of the mirror, I stared blankly at my worn-out face. Last night I always felt that Elias was next to me, but when I woke up, I was disappointed to see the cold empty bed beside me; maybe everything was just my imagination. I sighed, washed my face then applied some lotion.

What surprised me was that as soon as I stepped out the door, I came from nowhere to a snow-white cat with blue eyes filled with innocence. The cat rubbing against my leg makes my heart soften. I picked it up and stroked its head.

But why is there a cat in the room? The window didn't open all night; inexplicably, it was from the neighbor's house.
