Let me just start by saying my name is Sapphire, I live with my father, mother, and two brothers. My father is a well-known CEO, he owns Walmart; my mother is a well-known fashion designer, she created Chanel. My parents expect us to follow in their footsteps, they want us to be well known so their image doesn’t go to waste.  My older brother wants to be exactly like my mother, while my younger brother wants to be like my father. Now, I want to be like myself, I don’t want to be like my father or mother, I want to do my own thing. I want to be an author, I want to create books and fill my reader’s minds with crazy adventures and characters that my readers can connect to.  My father doesn’t like the idea and yells at me every chance he gets to,  my mother goes along with it because she hates it as well, along with my choice of clothing. My brothers, who will follow my parents every beck and call, go along with our parents and make sure my life is hell at school as well. Now enough about me let’s start this story!

“Sapphire!” a voice yells at me from behind my “door”, which is a curtain, I’m given a room just a little bit smaller than my brothers, but I’m not allowed a door since doors can hide what I’m doing and my parents can’t have that.

“Yes,” I mumbled out into my pillow

“We are eating breakfast, get up and come eat!” Mother yelled as she opened my curtain to see me still in bed

“Ok,” I said to myself since Mother walked away from me in disgust. I got up and changed, not ready for the day ahead. I walked down the stairs and into the room filled with hate,

“Oh! Look who finally decided to join us,” Father said with a sarcastic voice

“Oh, like you care!” I whispered to myself sarcastically

“Did you say something?” Father said as he raised his head from his newspaper, his eyes burning with anger,

“No,” I replied as I grabbed my food from the counter, making sure he didn’t see my eyes rolling into my head,

“Good,” Father nodded his head as he went back to reading his newspaper. I ate my breakfast quickly and headed out to my truck. Little more background into why my parents hate me, so they asked us to pick vehicles on our sixteen birthdays and they would pay for it, as long as the vehicles didn’t ruin their image. My older brother, Brock, asked for a white Mercedes with red rims on his wheels. When Brock reached the age of sixteen, my parents happily paid for his Mercedes since it screamed rich and privileged. My other brother Grant, asked for a black Ferrari with white rims on his wheels, once again my parents paid for it with no problem because the vehicle, like Brock’s, didn’t tarnish their image of wealthy parents. When my sixteen birthday came around I asked for a black truck with orange rims on my wheels, my parents did everything they could to change my mind since my dream vehicle a piece of trash and only for those who don’t have money. Once they realized that they couldn’t change my mind, they said they would pay half of it and the rest was up to me, not caring if I had the money or not. Luckily, I saved up my money from my job, unlike my brothers, who had everything handed to them, and got my truck a few days after my birthday while my brothers got their vehicles on their birthdays. Now I realize this isn’t a big thing because many other people can’t afford a vehicle the first go-around, but I wanted to show more insight into how my parents treat my brothers and me. Another way my parents treat my brothers and me differently, my brothers have access to all of the cash my parents have, while I have no access and I have to work so I can pay rent to my parents and pay all of the bills that concern me. Mother and Father cut me off from the cash as soon as I told them I wanted to be a writer instead of following their path, and I’m perfectly ok with that because now I can follow my dream and be an independent person, unlike my brothers. I can buy the things I want and I can work my way up to my career. This is why I still go to the school my parents put me in, they may not have any good English classes when it comes to writing stories, but they have a good business program that allows me to understand the business side of an author career. So, here I am now on my way to the preppy school in my “trashy” truck where all the people there don’t talk to me, well except my best friend Diamond, due to my idiot brothers scaring everyone away with threats, Dime’s the only one I got. I parked my truck and barely had time to get out and shut my door before my best friend, Diamond, ran up to me.

“Saph!” Diamond yelled as she tackled me to the ground

“Dime!!!” I screamed in pain as I pushed her off

“Sorry, Saph,” Dime apologized as she rolled off to the side of me

“It’s fine, but please be more careful next time!” I laughed

“Ok,” Dime sighed with sadness and then laughed with me. We walked into the school and saw all the groups hanging out with their friends: the nerds were talking about the homework they had yesterday, the jocks punching each other and talking about sports, the musicians making their music videos and talking about the latest songs, and the “bad” people group smoking and getting ready to beat people up.

“Ready?” I asked Dime

“I guess,” Dime said with a little whimper in her voice, we walked past the groups trying to get to our lockers without being attacked by anyone. You see, my brothers threatened to beat people up if they continued to talk to me, all of my friends left me, but Dime stayed with me, so now we both go through beatings each day and pray it will all stop.

“Well, look who we have here!” I heard someone yell through the hall, Dime and I froze in fear knowing who was making their way towards us,

“Oh, boy,” I whispered to Dime as we turned around to see my brothers with their friends.

“Do you need help carrying your things?” Tom Niddle asked in a genuine voice as he grabbed our stuff from our hands

“No, we don’t need your help!” Dime snapped at him and grabbed our stuff back, a bad idea.

“Oh, feisty!” Nate Menito laughed out as the others glared at her for fighting back

“Whatever,” Dime replied as she grabbed my arm and tried to drag me away, keyword tried, Drew Clay grabbed my other arm and pulled me back, making my arm slip through Dime’s hold.

“Let her go!” Dime screamed at Drew as she ran over to me, pushing and shoving Drew to get me out of his arms

“Back off!” Brock yelled at Dime and pushed her away, Dime fell to the ground and hit her head, hard, on the floor.

“Dime!” I screamed as tears fell from my eyes and pushed, with all of my might, to get Drew’s hand off of my arm and run to Dime. I finally got out of Drew’s hold and ran to Dime,

“Sapphire, get back here!” Grant yelled as he grabbed my hair and yanked me back into him, I screamed and kicked at Grant to let me go

“Grant, please! I need to help her!” I screamed

“Too bad,” Grant sneered at me as he threw me into Drew,

“This is all your fault, Sapphire!” Grant laughed at me as he watched me struggle to get out of Drew’s hold as he made his way over to Dime. I screamed and yelled as Grant grabbed Dime’s hair and picked her up only to “accidentally” drop her again,

“Drew, please!?” I asked him as I pounded on his chest finally giving up on the fight, hoping he would let me go if I stopped fighting him

“Mmmmm, no,” Drew said as he only looked straight, he never looked at Dime and me when the boys beat us,

“Please Drew, he’ll kill her!” I cried out, pulling his face down to look at me, and watched as his eyes met mine,

“Fine,” he replied and let me run over to Dime and Grant.

My parents were too busy packing their things to realize I had come downstairs, I had to hold in my laughter because I knew that my dad would kill me if I gave away my position. The sirens were finally in hearing distance, I quickly moved out of sight from my parents and listened to my mother cry as dad yelled at her to grab the stuff and run to the car. The cops busted into the house and saw my parents trying to run, my parents didn’t make it far. As the cops took my parents out I talked with the woman on the phone and told her everything was alright. The cops walked me out so I could identify if they caught the right people, they did but they were missing some of the boys. My parents and brothers yelled at me to forgive them and say it wasn’t true but I ignored them as I told the cops that I would be at my best friend's house if they needed me. I took off towards Dime’s house with my truck thinking about what I would do now t

Trish laughed as Dime and I stumbled into my room, "These boxes are ready to go," Trish said as she suppressed her laughter, Dime and I nodded as we picked up the boxes Trish pointed to. "Are we actually moving out?" Dime asked as she set the two boxes she was carrying in the bed of the truck, "We are," I said to Dime, knowing she was just amazed by the fact that we were leaving our safe spot, "Come on girls there are more boxes up here!" Dave yelled from the stairs, "We are coming!" I yelled up to him. "Honestly, it's more surprising that we are moving into new houses without each other," I said to Dime as we climbed the stairs, "Well, we tried convening them to let the four of us move into one house, but those two are too stubborn," Dime grumbled a

Drew asks before I can go after Dime and Tom, "Fine, but you have to come to my room. I have to finish packing," I said as I walked away from him, "Sounds good to me," Drew said as he shut the door and jogged after me. We walked past Dime's room to see the door closed "Tch," I clicked my tongue as we passed by; she obviously didn't want me to hear what was being said. Drew entered the room behind me and closed my door, "Why did you close my door?" I asked as I snapped my head around to look at him, "So we can talk without interrupting Dime and Tom, and so you can't try to get rid of me," Drew said as he sm
