Chapter 18. New Projects 6

The Bar And Resort 

I did not encounter any delays in the sim card registration center. I left after ensuring that the registration was all right by calling my sister. She was happy to hear my voice and I was happy to hear her voice as well. 

After the pleasantries, I appreciated her again, "Thank you, Big sister, for the gift. You sacrificed a lot to get this for me."

"It is my pleasure. How is Mother?"

"She is fine."

"That's good to know. Be a good boy. Okay?"

"I will. See you later."

I got to work before every staff member and sat in the foyer to call my mother.

Apart from my sister who called often to check on her, her phone hardly rang. She suspected that it could be me and picked up the call.

"Hello, Son," she greeted me.

"You guessed right, Mom. I just want to let you know that I have completed the registration," I informed her.

"That is good. Have you called your sister?"

"Yes, Mom."

"That is nice of you."

"It's okay, Mom. See you later."

After the call, I began to wait for Andrea and my colleagues. While I was waiting, an unimpressive middle-aged man walked into the resort. Instead of walking to the tables, he walked to the foyer. I wished to direct him to one of the tables but the sun was still up.

"A good day to you, Sir," I greeted him with an inquisitive look.

He smiled softly and answered me, "Good day, Young man. Where are your colleagues?"

"They will soon be here. How may I help you?"

He scrutinized me with his eyes and answered me, "I wish to have a drink but you are not ready for customers yet."

I got up at once and pleaded with him, "Oh! You are too early but you can have your seat under the shed while you wait for the bar to open."

At that point, I was facing one of the deciduous trees. He followed me and I dusted one of the seats for him with my hand. Instead of sitting down, he brought out a call card out of his pocket.

"Kindly give this to your manager. Ask him to call me immediately," he said and handed the card to me.

I collected the card from him, and before I could observe it, he announced, "I will be on my way."

He walked away immediately without even allowing me to apologize for our poor service. I watched him as he walked on and mumbled, "Why did the gatemen allow him to come in when we were not ready for clients?"

When I could not get any answers, I walked back to the foyer. Not quite long, my colleagues began to trickle in. The manager was not left out. As soon as he walked into his office, I followed him and delivered the message.

"Good afternoon, Manager," I greeted him.

He smiled, searched me, and responded, "Good after, Julius. How are you?"

"I am fine, Manager. A client gave this card to me. He said you should call him immediately."

He furrowed his brow, collected the card, and read through it. 

"Where did you see him?" He asked me at once.

"He was here."

"Huh! When?"

"About thirty minutes ago," I answered him.

"Does that mean that you were here earlier?"

"Yes, Manager."

"That is impressive. I will call him at once."

"It's okay."

"You can leave."

I Ieft his office and walked to the bar. My supervisor was already there and had won his work clothes. After the greetings, I changed into my work clothes as well, and we started our work.

"He must be a lucky boy," the manager said and called the strange man who happened to be the CEO of the Bar and Resort 

Mr. Zenith's Office 

Johnson seemed to have missed me and wished to catch up with the lost years. He arrived earlier than I expected and we began to wait for my clerk.

He looked around my office and complimented it, "Your office is beautiful."

I smiled softly and responded, "Thank you for the compliment. But it is not as beautiful as yours."

"I don't think so. Yours is more beautiful. You always have a good taste in furniture. If not everything," he pointed out with a smirk.

I laughed aloud and asked him, "What do you mean?"

He laughed softly and answered me, "Figure it out."

He was right but I never knew that he noticed that aspect of me. I go for everything beautiful and Denise was one of them. I searched his eyes to see if he knew about the love between the two of us, but they were expressionless.

"You have won," I said and continued to wait for my clerk.

Shortly after, she arrived with the meal and set it on the table. The tantalizing aroma permeated the air and he looked at me. I understood the look and smiled within me.

"Can we move to the table?" I proposed and got up.

"Okay," he accepted and got up as well.

After we sat down, he waited for me to open the dishes and I did. He was openly happy to see the food.

"I said it," he declared and picked up the cutlery.

"You said what? Let's eat," I declared.

He smiled from ear to ear and responded, "Your taste is top-notch. I will be your guest always."

"You are always welcome," I said and picked up my cutlery.

We began to eat and laughed at some jokes. He was eating happily as though he was eating a quality meal for the first time.

"What about his wife? Is he not married? Or is he divorced?" I asked myself.

Since he did not talk about her, I did not ask him either. Nevertheless, I was happy that he came and made me laugh. After the meal, we returned to the couch. I called my clerk and she cleared the table. To my chagrin, he was not in a haste to leave.
