Elena’s POV
That was the only option I had left. I exhaled heavily before pushing the door with my hand on the doorknob. As Alex saw me, he smiled and came close to me. “Alex ….” I lowered my face. “It’s fine if you don’t want to come stay with me”. He responded in a low tone looking displeased. “No way is that what you think?” I questioned him as I burst into laughter. “Hmmm, are you trying to mock me this time around? So tell me why are you laughing at me now?” He questioned with concern. “Because the whole if you don’t want to come, I understand a thing is funny”. I repeated as I burst into laughter again. “So you are now mocking me, right?” He asked as he curled his lips and came closer to me. My heart started beating so fast that I could barely breathe. “Okay, it’s fine, I'm coming with you because I don’t even have a place to stay so I can’t object to your offer besides you have been there for me since the day I lost my parents”. I responded in a low tone as if I was about to cry “Hey it’s fine, no sad moment now. Please, I don't want you to start crying again. Come and have your breakfast, let's start going before your niece gets here”.Alex mocked me as he burst into laughter. “And she will be like hey you shameless orphan leave this house immediately”. I mimicked Mrs Caroline and we both laughed so loud. Alex always tries his best to make sure I’m not crying or being hard on myself. I kept staring at him for a while. “Hey Alex, Thank you for everything. I needed a companion and you came at the right time. I..I owe you a lot”. I shakily told him as tears rolled down my cheeks. “Hey Hey let’s not do that here. No time for tears, we already agreed that you won’t cry again, isn’t it?” He questioned me. “I know but I just can’t help it. I murmured. “It’s fine, everything will be fine I promise you”. Alex assured me and smiled. “Oh wow, So you still have the stupid effrontery to smile, you this unlucky orphan”. Mr Caroline spilled bluntly. “Do orphans deserve to be happy?” She questioned me rashly. “Now leave this house immediately”. She commanded. “Aunty why are you being this harsh on me have I done anything wrong to deserve all this hatred from you?” I asked with curiosity. “I don’t have time for your stupid questions. Please leave this house. My husband and I want to enjoy this beautiful mansion. She came close to me and whispered. “That was once yours”. She burst into laughter. “Do you have to go around downgrading my image?” I held my chest trying so hard not to cry so hard. No matter how I tried to clean my eyes they were still red and swollen. I cried my eyes out because I was broken. “What? Did you just say image?” She faced me giving me a disgusting look “Yes, you heard me vividly. Why did you suddenly turn cold after the death of my parents?” I asked her. “you and your husband even went as far as claiming my father's house and for that, you are being wicked”. I spilled bluntly. “You shameless and mannerless orphan.” She yapped at me with anger.“I won’t allow you to insult me in my face!” She warned me. “Do you have any dignity or humanity left in you?” I rolled my eyes. “This is my father's house and I deserve better than what have been through!” I said in anger. “Now leave my house immediately!” She commanded me with anger. “That was what I was about to do before you came in ranting and barking like a bulldog”. I mocked her. “Elena that’s enough!” Alex yelled at me. “You’re being too harsh and disrespectful and that’s wrong. She’s your aunt and you should talk to her with respect”. Alex scolded me. “Respect you say?” I questioned him with disbelief. “Yes you heard me right. Despite whatever that happened you should still respect her and that makes you a better person. Please just calm yourself down”. He lowered his voice this time around “Whatever” I sighed and left. I went inside the house to get my stuff ready. For some reason, I felt hurt that Alex scolded me. He was only trying to correct me and I shouldn’t have felt so bad about it. What's going on? I thought A few minutes later Alex opened the door and came inside the room he looked tired of everything already “Look Elena, I’m sorry for scolding you earlier. I felt like you were being too harsh and disrespectful and I know you were just angry and I was trying to calm you down”. He apologized with sincerity. “It’s fine Alex. I understand you and I’m not mad at you. I shouldn't have spoken to her in such a manner”.I responded with a smile “I’m not blushing am I?” I murmured to myself as I placed my hands on my cheeks. “Okay hurry up let’s leave this house,” Alex instructed. “Okay sure,” I responded I was ready to leave the house with luggage as Mrs Caroline walked up to me. “And where do you think you are going with this luggage?” She questioned with audacity. “How? Didn’t you just ask me to leave the house and that is what I am doing”.I responded bluntly. “Oh my sweetheart, it seems like you are so daft that you don’t understand common English”. She teased me“. Now listen to me attentively you will leave this house of course but you are to leave with nothing just like the trash you are”. She uttered. This time around I was speechless. I already cried out my eyes. I stood hopeless thinking of what life had stalled for me. “Okay, fine here you go.” I handed over the luggage to her as tears rolled down my cheeks. “It’s fine Elena, I already promised you that I would be here for you”. He smiled. “Don’t worry my boys are here to pick us up”. He bragged. “Your boys? What boys are you talking about?” I questioned him in surprise.Elena’s POV “Elena, Elena” He tried to get a hold of me as I quickly walked out of his living room. His guards and househelps were all looking at us like we just started a movie.“Please let me explain myself.” He grabbed my hand.“Explain yourself? Why?” I scoffed looking at him with disinterest.“About me not being honest with you. I’m sorry.” He lowered his head, feeling guilty and I smirked.“You have nothing to apologize for, Mr Alex. I am a hopeless girl who you came through for”. I spilled bluntly.“Elena, please stop sounding this way. Okay, fine I didn’t want to tell you anything about me yet because you were not at the right place to listen to me and I was so worried about you.”He said dolefully.“You owe me no explanation and I don’t believe you. I'm so sorry for disturbing you with my problems. Live your life the way you want to without thinking about me in any way but I have to leave this house and please don’t stop me”. I shunned him.“Trust me, Elena”. He didn’t let me
Elena’s POV “Will you be my girlfriend?” He asked again, his eyes filled with hope and expectation. I stood there, speechless and confused as Alex’s words hung in the air.I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Alex, the kind and generous man who had taken me in and cared for me, wanted to be my boyfriend? It was too much to process.“Elena, please say something”, Alex urged, his smile starting to falter. But I couldn’t speak. My mind was racing with thoughts and emotions, and I couldn’t form a coherent sentence.Just then, a voice behind us interrupted the moment. “Alex, what’s going on here?”We turned to see a woman standing in the doorway, her eyes narrowed and her arms crossed.“Rachel what are you doing here?” Alex asked, his tone firm but polite.“I could ask you the same thing”, Rachel replied, her eyes flicking to me. “Who is this…girl?”Alex hesitated, and I could see the conflict in his eyes. “Elena, this is Rachel,my business partner. Rachel, this is Elena, my…friend. Rachel
Elena’s POV"What's behind there?" I asked,my voice barely above a whisper. My heart raced as Alex led me towards the mysterious door.Alex smiled, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "You'll see," he said, his voice low and mysterious. "Just trust me, Elena."I hesitated, unsure if I should proceed. But Alex's enthusiasm was infectious, and my curiosity got the better of me. I nodded, and Alex pushed open the door, revealing a room that took my breath away. The room was dimly lit, with soft music playing in the background. The walls were adorned with beautiful artwork, and the floor was covered with a plush carpet that felt like silk under my feet. But what caught my attention was the centerpiece of the room: a beautiful grand piano, shining like a jewel in the soft light."Wow," I breathed, my eyes fixed on the piano. "This is incredible."Alex smiled, his eyes shining with pride. "I'm glad you like it," he said, walking towards the piano. "I have a surprise for you."And with that,
Elena’s POV Alex, how could you keep this from me? I asked,my voice shaking with anger and hurt. "How could you lie to me about something so important?"I shook my head, trying to process this new information. An ex-wife? It explained so much - the tension between them, the way Rachel seemed to know Alex's secrets.Alex sighed and rubbed his temples. "I know I should have told you, Elena. But I was scared. I didn't want to lose you."I laughed, a bitter sound. "You're losing me now," I said. "How can I trust you after this?"Alex took a step forward, his eyes pleading. "Elena, please understand. My marriage to Rachel was a mistake. It was a long time ago, and it didn't mean anything. I was young and stupid, and I didn't know what I wanted."I raised an eyebrow. "You were young and stupid? That's no excuse. You're still keeping secrets from me, Alex. How can I believe that you're telling me the truth now?"Alex hesitated, and for a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of fear in his eyes
Elena’s POV “Let’s start with small things”, I said, my voice firm but gentle. “No more secrets, no more lies. From now on, we’re honest with each other, no matter what”.Alex nodded his eyes locked on mine. “I promise Elena. I’ll be transparent about everything. My past, my present, my future. It’s all yours to know “.I nodded, a small smile on my lips. “Good. Because I want to know everything about you Alex. The good, the bad, the ugly. I want it all”.Alex’s face lit up with a relieved smile. “I’m ready to share it all with you, Elena. Let’s start with my past, with Rachel…“No,” I interrupted, my hand up. “Not yet. I’m not ready for that. But I am ready to know more about your life now, your interests, your dreams … the things that make you who you are”.Alex’s face softened, his eyes warm with understanding. “Okay Elena. I understand. Let’s start with something simple then. What do you want to know?”I thought for a moment before asking, “What’s your favorite hobby?”Alex’s fa
As we pulled back from our passionate kiss, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. I never imagined that I would fall in love with a stranger who came through for me at my lowest."Alex," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I want to try something new with you. Let’s try something fun”.I said with excitement.Alex's eyes lit up with curiosity. "What did you have in mind, Elena?"I smiled mischievously. "I want to take a cooking class with you. Something that will challenge us and force us to work together. I know how lazy you can be when it comes to cooking. I mockingly told him.Alex chuckled. "Cooking, huh? I like the way you think, Elena. But I think I cook better than you”. He teased me. “So when do we start?"I grinned, feeling a spark of excitement. "How about this weekend? I've already found a class that sounds perfect for us."Alex nodded, his eyes shining with enthusiasm. "I'm in. Let's do it."As we signed up for the cooking class, I couldn't h
“I wanted to give you something so special, something that symbolizes our love and connection”. Alex said, his eyes shining with emotions. As Alex opened the small box, my heart raced with anticipation. Instead of a ring, he revealed a beautiful customized necklace with our names, "Alex" and "Elena", intricately engraved on a golden pendant. I felt a bit disappointed. Maybe I was thinking too much, I thought. I was taken aback by the thoughtfulness and beauty of the necklace. "It's stunning, Alex," I whispered, my voice trembling. Alex smiled and gently placed the necklace around my neck. "You look beautiful wearing it, Elena. It's a reminder of the love we share, and I hope you'll wear it always." As I touched the pendant, I felt a deep sense of love and belonging. The necklace was more than just a gift – it was a symbol of our journey, our memories, and our triumphs. "Thank you, Alex," I said, my voice filled with gratitude. "This means the world to me." Alex's eyes locke
Elena’s POV“What is it, Elena?” Alex asked me. He followed my gaze, his eyes scanning through the area.I hesitated, my heart racing. “That figure looks like there’s someone there.Alex’s eyes locked onto mine. “Who’s there?“It looks like Bonnie," I responded with uncertainty.“Who is Bonnie?” Alex asked in confusion.Bonnie is my childhood friend, I’m not certain yet it just looks like her. I responded, still trying to look closer.“Your childhood friend?” Alex asked me.I nodded, my mind racing with memories of our past. We had been inseparable growing up, sharing secrets and dreams. But life had taken us in different directions and we lost in touch. As we approached, Bonnie stepped forward,a bright smile on her face. “Elena! Oh my gosh, it’s been ages.I felt a rush of excitement and nostalgia. "Bonnie! I can't believe it's you!"We embraced warmly, laughing and chattering like no time had passed at all. Alex smiled, watching us with amusement."I can't believe we ran into each o
Elena’s POV The atmosphere in the dimly lit room was thick with tension. Daniel and I had dressed up and arrived at the reserved apartment, anticipating a confrontation. As we walked into the room where Phila had arranged everything, Daniel’s face froze in shock. There, sitting calmly, was Alex.Daniel blinked, disbelief in his eyes. "Alex? What are you doing here?"Alex slowly turned, a smirk playing on his lips. "You told me to come, remember? You texted me."Daniel’s confusion deepened. "No, I didn’t! I never texted you."I couldn’t help but enjoy the unraveling drama. With a sly smile, I crossed my legs and leaned back. "Wow, Daniel, I’m impressed. You’re truly something. But let me clear the air—I did the texting. I needed you both here. After all, birds of the same feather…"Daniel, pale and anxious, stood up and grabbed my arm. "Elena, please, I can explain—"Before he could finish, my hand flew across his face, delivering a stinging slap. "Explain? Explain what, Daniel? The f
Elena’s POV I walked into the house, feeling a sense of exhaustion wash over me. I had been running on adrenaline for weeks, and it was finally catching up with me. I decided to take a nap, hoping to clear my head and recharge. As I lay in bed, I couldn't shake off the feeling of doubt that had been lingering in my mind. What was Daniel hiding? And why was he being so secretive? But for now, I pushed those thoughts aside and focused on rest. I slept for a few hours, waking up feeling slightly better. When I walked into the living room, Daniel was sitting on the couch, watching TV. He smiled when he saw me, and I forced a smile back."Hey, how was your day?" he asked, patting the couch next to him.I sat down, trying to act normal. "It was fine. Just tired."Daniel put his arm around me, pulling me close. "You've been working too hard. You need to take it easy."I nodded, feeling a sense of unease. I didn't want to be close to him right now, not when I had so many doubts. But I didn't
Elena’s POV I smiled, a plan forming in my mind. "Phila, I need your help. I want you to keep an eye on Daniel's moves, and see if you can find out what he's up to."Phila's eyes widened, intrigued. "You mean, spy on him?"I nodded. "Exactly. I'm about to make a big decision, and I need to be sure of what I'm doing. If Daniel's hiding something, I need to know."Phila grinned mischievously. "I'm on it. I'll dig up everything I can find."I smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "Thanks, Phila. I knew I could count on you."Phila nodded. "Don't worry, Elena. We'll get to the bottom of this. And if Daniel's hiding something, we'll expose him."I nodded, determination coursing through my veins. "Let's do it."Phila pulled out her phone and started typing away. "I'll start by hacking into his phone records, see if he's been in contact with anyone suspicious."I raised an eyebrow. "You can do that?"Phila winked. "I have my ways. Leave it to me, Elena. I'll uncover everything."I smiled and h
Elena’s POV The next morning, I walked into the office, still thinking about Daniel's proposal. Phila noticed the look on my face and asked, "Hey, what's up? You look deep in thought."I sat down at my desk and filled her in on Daniel's suggestion. "He wants us to merge our properties and make him the sole owner," I said, watching for her reaction.Phila's expression turned thoughtful. "That's a big decision," she said. "What do you think about it?"I shrugged. "I don't know. That's why I'm asking for your opinion."Phila leaned back in her chair, steepling her fingers together. "If I were to advise you, I'd say keep your property to yourself."I raised an eyebrow. "Why?"Phila's expression turned serious. "You can't trust anybody, Elena. Especially when it comes to something you've worked hard for. You know what Uncle Smith tried to do to you. What if Daniel...?"I held up a hand, stopping her. "Daniel would never do that to me. He loves me."Phila's expression softened. "I know he
Elena’s POV I stood tall, looking at Mr. and Mrs. Smith with a sense of satisfaction. "You have two days to leave this house," I said, my voice firm. "After that, I'll be changing the locks and taking possession of my property."Mrs. Caroline's eyes welled up with tears, while Mr. Smith's face turned red with rage. But I just smiled, feeling a sense of triumph."I'm done here," I said, turning to leave. "Enjoy your last night in my apartment."Phila followed me out, closing the door behind us. "You were amazing in there," she said, grinning.I smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "Thanks, Phila. I couldn't have done it without you."As we walked away from the house, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. I had taken back what was mine, and I had done it with style."Let's go celebrate," Phila said, linking her arm through mine.I nodded, smiling. "Definitely. I think we've earned it."We walked off into the night, ready to start our new life together
Elena’s POV The next day, Phila and I walked into the bank, confident and determined. We were greeted by Mr. Johnson, who looked nervous and anxious."Good morning, ladies," he said, trying to force a smile.I smiled sweetly, enjoying the power dynamic. "Good morning, Mr. Johnson. Thank you for meeting us here today."We walked into the bank manager's office, where all the necessary documents were laid out on the table. Mr. Johnson hesitated, looking at the papers as if he was about to sign away his soul."Is everything in order?" the bank manager asked, looking at Mr. Johnson expectantly.Mr. Johnson nodded, his hand trembling as he signed the documents. Phila and I exchanged a triumphant glance, knowing that this was the final step in our plan."Thank you, Mr. Johnson," I said, taking the signed documents from him. "You've been a great help."Mr. Johnson looked like he was about to cry, but I just smiled and patted him on the back. "Don't worry, Mr. Johnson. You'll be rewarded for
Elena’s POVMr. Johnson's face went white, his eyes wide with fear. "I won't, Elena. I promise. I'll do whatever you say."I leaned forward, my voice dropping to a whisper. "Good. Because I'm not the Elena you used to know. I'm something more now. Something worse."Phila raised an eyebrow, a small smile playing on her lips. "I think that's enough, don't you, Elena?"I nodded, standing up. "Yes. Let's get out of here. Mr. Johnson, your family will be brought to you before night falls. Enjoy your reunion."With that, we turned and walked away, leaving Mr. Johnson shaken and subdued. We walked into the office, and I turned to Phila. "Book an appointment with my uncle, Mr. Smith. Tell him the form is ready."Phila nodded, her fingers flying across her phone's keyboard. "Consider it done. What time do you want me to meet with him?"I thought for a moment. "How about 2 pm? That gives you enough time to go over everything with him."Phila nodded, sending the text. "Done. Mr. Smith will meet
Elena’s POVI trudged through the front door, feeling exhausted from the day's events. Phila and I had called it a day, and I was looking forward to a quiet night in.I took a long, hot shower, trying to wash away the stress and tension of the day. As I got dressed, I heard my stomach growling and headed downstairs to see what was for dinner.Just as I was about to sit down, my phone rang. I hesitated for a moment before answering it."Hello?" I said, expecting it to be Phila or maybe even Mr. Johnson."Elena, it's Detective James," a deep voice said on the other end of the line. "I'm afraid I have some bad news. Alex has escaped from custody."My heart skipped a beat as I felt a surge of fear. "What? How did that happen?""We're not entirely sure yet," Detective James replied. "But we're working on it. In the meantime, I need you to be careful. If Alex is on the loose, you could be in danger."I felt a chill run down my spine as I thought about Alex being out there, possibly coming f
Elena’s POVWe arrived at the coffee shop and sat down in a quiet corner. Phila raised an eyebrow. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?"I shrugged. "Maybe a little. But it's necessary."As we waited, Mr. Johnson walked in, looking frantically around the coffee shop. His eyes landed on us, and he paled."Elena?" he whispered, his voice trembling. "What's going on? Why are you doing this?"I smiled, gesturing for him to sit down. "Let's just say I'm taking matters into my own hands, Mr. Johnson. And you're going to help me."Mr. Johnson sat down, his eyes darting back and forth between Phila and me. "What do you need, Elena?" he asked, his voice cautious.I smiled, leaning forward. "I need you to help me, Mr. Johnson. Just like you helped my uncle throw me out of the house."Mr. Johnson's expression turned cold. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said, but I could see the guilt written all over his face.I laughed, a harsh sound. "Don't play dumb, Mr. Johnson. I know all about
