Rejected

" You have been rejected". These words nearly broke my heart into pieces . I looked around me , the people kept on murmuring but I couldn't hear them . luckily,she raised her staff up and immediately sweet silence and decorum filled the air ,which made me become calm a little.

" In three years time , you will be presented again to the crystal goddess, and chosen "she finally said after a while of silence. I became a little calm after hearing such words, I raise my head up to look at her and she smiled at me " it's okay my child ,you're still too young "I could see pain and confusion in her eyes, but she chose to remain strong for me..

As they all began leaving one by one ,she came towards me ,but I already had tears in my eyes ....." Oh Ara,it's okay there's always a next time okay"I sniffed and nodded my head before following her . We finally got to my room she tucked me into bed and covered me properly with the duvet " sleep my child , you're still too young for now " I smiled but that smile didn't last. 

As she turned around to leave , I could see it in her eyes _ pain , confusion, fear, disappointment. I needed no soothsayer to tell me ,that she was afraid . " Why on Earth was I rejected, what could have happened , maybe the crystal goddess made a mistake ,by blood I am the next great white wolf , but just like that,I was rejected, though I'm young ,but I could understand the pain of being rejected , truly, my mom and grandmother would be disappointed and just like my great-grandmother confused .

Trying hard to forget it all , and wait for 3 more years in order for the ceremony to take place again , I prayed silently to the crystal goodness to accept me in the future, whatever was the reason I got rejected I badly wanted to know .

3 YEARS LATER 

" Run Arabella run ," I could hear my play mate scream as he was gaining on me , just then ,my eyes turned yellow and faster I ran ,faster ,and faster ,but I wasn't fast enough and immediately he jumped on me pinning me to the ground as he landed on me . We began laughing like crazy ." How come you're this fast , have you been training with your father ? "I asked him curious to know . I was actually the faster years back ,but now he's way faster than me .

" No , I just love training all by myself"he answered me . I beamed , suprised " really ,you're unimaginably fast , can I train with you sometimes? "I asked him and immediately without a second thought he agreed.

Honestly, jack likes me ,not just a little,but a lot ,so much that most times it suprises me . I could see his cheek burning red as smiled at him . But the sad truth is , I don't think I also feel anything for him .

I coughed aloud just to prevent that moment from becoming weirder and luckily for me ,he came back to his senses . " Come on Arabella, let's go ,your mother will be so worried about you " . I lifted myself up and dusted my cloth properly. Only jack calls my great-grandmother mother , we were so close to each other ,that most of our people pray to our crystal goddess to pair us together when I'm finally ready to be blessed with a mate . But that isn't what I want .

More than anything,I cherish our friendship,and I don't think I do have feelings for Jack ,I haven't even for once imagine a life with him as my mate ,never. 

I want a mysterious mate , sometimes I do pray and wish for a special mate ,not only that a real Strong mate who would protect I and my pack with his life .

" Race you over there,"I heard jack say and immediately I nodded, before he could count to three ,I began running " cheater "he screamed from behind which made me chuckle as I ran but unfortunately as usual he lashed me again . Breathing hard ,we finally stopped " Tomorrow, at 10:00 am ,let's meet close to that big rock over there , we'll start training"he said .

Hearing this , I quickly hugged him , and I could tell he felt unimaginably happy about it , and when I finally realized what I was actually doing , I pulled away immediately and started heading towards home .

A week time , just a week time to the ceremony, right ,it's been three years now since the last ceremony and rejection, my great-grandmother say maybe I'm weak ,,and not ready to take over the leadership role , and for three years I've been training hard but still I feel like I'm still weak . I just have these feeling that I could get stronger with training from someone outside my pack .

Just thinking about a week time makes me so nervous, but I'm confident I'll get chosen this time around, at least as the next great white wolf it's meant to be so .

" I'm home mother ".

NEXT DAY , " alright , you're a bit late "Jack said to me , as I finally stopped running.

" Sorry , I woke up late ,and I had some chores to do "

" Alright, now ,see those trees over there , were gonna climb them while running, we'll meet at thee other end beside the biggest apple tree okay ".

" But, wait , isn't that too much for me ,what if I get injured, beside I don't think I can climb trees yet ."

He laughed just a little, " stop looking down on yourself Arabella, you're our next leader , you should be a strong wolf if you wanna protect our pack in the future ".

Hearing this ,I just gained more courage" let's do this "

" READY , GOOOOOOO"he screamed and immediately we both started running and suddenly I recalled something my great-grandmother told me. 

" Always find your way through a shorter cut , in order to become stronger and smarter than your enemy and win " and then , surprisingly I took another way " I'll meet you there jack , last to get there is a rotten fish " I screamed.

" Oh am in for this "I could hear his voice loud and clear . As I kept on running and climbing trees , suddenly,I lost my balance on top of a tall trees falling down and landing on different trees which their vines kept on swinging me around towards different direction " help jack ,help me "i screamed but nobody heard me , I couldn't even hear my tiny voice properly.
