“What?” I exclaimed and in that moment, it seemed like my hearing was starting to malfunction.

Michaela’s hands flew over her mouth and if I would be honest, I didn’t know if that reaction was because of the shock that she was thrown in or for the fact that Nicholas’s words could hold an iota of truth.

My gaze landed on the picture that fell on my legs and when my eyes saw the content of the picture, my stomach tied a knot and in that moment, my heart sank into my stomach.

I couldn’t believe my eyes and for a second, I wanted to doubt Nicholas and believe Michaela’s words.

She certainly couldn’t have been the one who poisoned me, right?

I mean, how was that even possible? She was my sister and even though most of the time, we disagreed on a lot of things, I still loved her like my life depended on it.
