Elara’s POV
Alexis and I made our way toward the dining room where Alpha Kane awaited Alexis. We were both silent and only the heels of Alexis making sound was what kept echoing. I was lost in thought and I tried to focus on my breathing, on keeping calm, but it was hard. The sensation of my wolf lingered. Her power was there, trying to push itself beneath the surface because I hadn’t shifted yet.
"Elara, are you okay?" Alexis asked which brought me back from my thought.
I forced a smile, though I wasn’t sure I could hide my troubled mind not being visible on my face. "I’m fine."
Alexis’s gaze softened, and she squeezed my arm lightly. "You don't need to lie to me."
