"That was years ago, Kane. No one remembers the details, and those who do are too afraid to speak about it openly. This time, we control the whole thing. We can frame one of the maids, say she poisoned Alexis. The pack will believe it if we plant the right story." Alaric clarified.

My mind raced. Alexis had been so confident she will end up getting out of here. She was stubborn, and completely unwilling to fall in line but there was something about her—a fire that made me want to break her, control her, and keep her under my thumb. Killing her felt too final, too... messy. I can't deny I lust for her body too.

"Why poison her at all?" I asked, leaning back in my chair.

"I could just keep her as a prisoner, locked away where she can’t do any harm. She’s of no use to me dead." I said.

Alaric shook his head. "Richard will eventually want to see results might have spies around as we speak. He’ll expect you to make Alexis y
