It was a Saturday. Rain was at the gym with a couple of guys, David had a weekend with his beloved wife's family, one that he strongly expressed his displeasure about having to be part of, and I was on my way to the park, to see Devin. Now before you cuss at me or call me a whore, which doesn't actually change again so go ahead, he called the night before and introduced himself in the most gentlemanly way possible. According to him, he just called to see how I was doing. After a casual conversation laced with a few chuckles here and there, he offered to take me to lunch. I did refuse, at first, but he convinced me that there was no motive behind it. It would be just lunch. A friendly lunch. Plus, my Saturday was going to be spent in my pj's until Rain came so I wasn't doing anything wrong.
I stepped out of the cab when it stopped just outside the city's park. Why the park? Because it was open, public, harder to be manipulated into a concocted meaning, that is, if any persoDevin drove like a maniac to the hospital. I was in a hurry to see Anna but I wanted to do exactly just that, see her, not die in the process. As much as I wanted him to drive a little more carefully, I didn't say a word. I sat in the front seat, completely silent, watching him maneuver his way through the cars on the highway. Many times my heart threatened to jump out of my chest, and even jumped into my mouth, but I swallowed the various heavy lumps in my throat and just sat through it. We finally got to the hospital. He was quick to find a parking space, narrowly missing the bumper of the Toyota parked to the left of the spot he chose. Even if he did hit it, he would have paid for damages on the spot. His parents were rich afterall. I didn't wait for the ignition to go off before jumping out of the car, almost tripping as I sprinted towards the hospital doors. I heard Devin say something behind me but I didn't care enough to turn. I barged through the doors, s
"Raya.”A soft whisper, accompanied by the feeling of a hand gently shaking my right shoulder repeatedly forced my eyes to flutter open. Tired and very reluctantly, I pushed myself up from the couch. I had fallen asleep while waiting for the nurses to bring Anna back to her room. Almost immediately, my eyes dashed to her bed. She was still not there. With a loud sigh, my eyes went to the person standing before me. The person who woke me up. “You look tired and hungry," he said with a smile. “My shift is over, let me buy you dinner." I groaned under my breath. The last thing I wanted to do was leave Anna's room, let alone the entire hospital building and area, but he was right, I was hungry. Very hungry. I guess Anna's doctor was finally going to get that date I had earlier turned down. After a loud sigh, I slowly nodded my head. His smile widened. I pushed myself up from the couch. My legs wobbled a bit, almost throwing me back down. My head th
I sprung up out of the sitting booth as if a bee stung my bottom. The doctor immediately got up, following me with his eyes as I headed towards Rain. I was furious, breathing fire, marching towards him with tightened fists. As I got closer, I noticed the horror in his eyes. “Raya," there was a mixture of shock and what sounded like regret in his voice. “What are you doing here?" he stuttered, looking around at the other people who now had their attention on us. But they were the last thing I cared about. “What am I doing here? What're you doing here?!" my voice was out of control. I knew I was dragging more attention but like I just mentioned, I didn't care. “And with her?!" My hateful eyes darted to Katy who stood awkwardly beside him. She had this unbothered look that bothered me, actually, it made me more agitated. “I…” Rain's purry voice returned my glare to him. "I went to the apartment but you weren't there…”"So your next brigh
Contrary to what you would be thinking, Rain and I did not have sex since he spent the night at my place. We had ice cream while watching a movie on his ipad. In the process, I fell asleep and he let me sleep until the morning. As soon as my eyes opened, I noticed it was bright out and he was also awake. “Good morning beautiful," his deep, soothing, morning voice danced with the air around me. "Tell me you slept well." I rubbed my still sleepy eyes with my index finger. “I think so," I paused to let out a bug yawn. “But I'm still so sleepy." He chuckled when I nuzzled further into him. If I could temporarily attach myself to his side, I would. "What's stopping you from going back to sleep?” I heard him ask after a few minutes of silence. He was now stroking my hair gently. It was always so comforting whenever he did so. “I need to go to Anna." I muffled abstractly, occupied with taking in whiffs of his scent.
You already know what happened between Rain and I. When our little session was over, we shared a shower and thankfully, the rain had stopped falling by the time we were done. I headed straight for the hospital while Rain headed home for a change of clothing, and maybe even another shower. I could barely keep my ankles to the ground when I pushed through the hospital doors. I said nothing to the no one, not even the receptionist when she said hello. I headed for Anna's room, earnestly praying she would be there, eyes open and smiling at me. The closer I got, the louder my heart thumped. My anxiety levels were over the roof. When I finally got to her door, I didn't hesitate to barge in. My eyes instantly darted towards her bed. She was there. Then our eyes met. A burst of happiness surged through me, as if an explosion happened at the bottom of my stomach. An explosion of joy. “Raya!" Hearing her voice pushed water through my eyes. My legs pushe
David told me not to call him on his trip but I couldn't hold back what I wanted to say. His friend had stepped on my last and final nerve, and I had taken all I could take. I knew the doctor wouldn't be back for the next hour or even more, so I stayed back in his office to ring David. It was either that or wait until I was in my apartment, and even so, I wasn't sure if I was going to be alone then. These days, Rain followed me everywhere. It was cute but slowly becoming annoying. The phone rang and rang and rang, but there was no response. When the line went dead, I rang it again. For some reason, I was very furious. At David, at the doctor and even at myself. The first question was did David mention anything about us? If yes, what did he tell the doctor and why? When the phone rang the second time with no response, I called again. I was determined to call until u got any sort of response, even if it was from Chyna. I was too angry to even care. Thankf
“You're doing what?!" “You just heard me, I'm changing Anna's hospital." “Are you out of your mind David?!" I'm sure you're wondering what's going on. Allow me to explain. David started to process Anna's hospital transfer while he was still at his in-laws. He eventually found one and we needed to come sign a few documents from both hospitals, the former and the new, to legalise the transfer. So when he got back from his weekend by Monday morning, he made it straight to the hospital, where I also was, to sign the necessary documents and take Anna. Now for the juicy part. When David met with his friend, the tension between them was as awkward as ever. They weren't as cordial or friendly as they were when they met the first time. David went straight to business, informing the doctor that we were taking Anna to another hospital. When the doctor would ask why, David simply said ‘personal reasons’. After a long minute of silence,
Anna was transported to the new hospital in an ambulance. I and one of the nurses rode with her. She was especially chatty and I knew it was because she was going to a new hospital. It was like going to a new school, just a little… sadder. However, Anna was excited. I expected that she would ask why she was changing or at least how we could afford a chance in hospitals, but she didn't. Half the time on the ride there, she was live on tiktok, with surprisingly, a handful of people watching and commenting. She was actually taking her internet life really seriously. It felt like the new hospital was in a new state because we just kept driving and driving. David's car was steadily behind us. I don't know how he dealt with his wife, but she hopped in her car and sped off when I pushed Anna out of the hospital doors. I knew their fight was far from over, and I didn't care how they settled their scores, but what concerned be, gave me an intense sickening feeling at the bottom of my stomach
