Lexi’s POV

Groaning, I turned on the bed and my head pounded so hard that it felt like the room was spinning.

“It’s getting late and you’re still sleeping, there’s a lot of work to do!” Darren yelled as I tried to sit up but at this point I couldn’t care less if he was angry or not.

“I want a divorce.” I blurted out without thinking and the room fell silent for a while before getting filled up with Darren’s sinister laughter that caused chills to run down my spine.

“You must be kidding,” he smirked, walking to get his jacket, “get ready and meet me in the office in…”

“But I’m not kidding,” I responded, “I’m serious and I want a divorce.” I added at once.

Darren turned to face me, his eyebrow raised at me as though I was crazy or out of my mind with no idea what I’m saying.

“I don’t know why or what I might have done to warrant this kind of treatment from you but you’ve changed,” I continued after a while of silence with tears lingering at the back of my eyes.
