Chapter:- 3

After a long hour Alex arrives in front of Ashly condo and ring doorbells, after minutes Ashly came out. The latter gets in his car and says sulkily, "You're late!"

"Well, you told me to wear something nice. It would have been ten minutes if I just wore my usual," Alex argues.

"Go, go, go!" Ashly motions Alex to drive.

"You owe me big time! You better be ready to feed me something expensive." Alex starts the car aggressively and steers the car back to the street.

He is angry and frustrated at same time, but he can't do anything.

It's Ashly choice to choose to accept their bond. If Ashly wants to ignore their destiny, then who is Alex to stop her.

No one...

"Enjoy your date!" Alex says in an almost sarcastic tone as Ashly gets out of the passenger side of the car.

Ashly pauses and turns to Alex, "Alex, can you just go in there with me? It's been a long time since I went on a blind date and I'm really nervous. And you know I am really pretty. What will I do if someone try to kidnaped?" Ashly asked with wide eyes, she really try hard to act innocent.

"What are you 12?!" Alex replies in an annoyed tone. Even as an omega Alex is sure Ashly can kick anyone ass who try to touch her unwillingly.

"No but I am omega so can you please? Come on, you can have all the sushi you want. Just sit close to our table so that you can drag me out of there when things become really awkward."

"You're really going to walk out from your date? Unbelievable! What do you want me to say?"

"Just pretend that we're being recalled for duty, er, because somebody got diarrhea or something. Please?"

Alex scratches his head in impatience and gives a warning, "The sushi in there should be good. I'll order as much as I want, even the expensive ones."

Ashly beams with excitement, "Yes! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

Alex nods and motions for Ashly to get back in the car so that he can park the car at the back of the restaurant; however, his best friend hurriedly closes the door and runs towards the entrance. Dumbfounded, he shifts the gear to drive and parks the car on his own.

Ashly waves Alex over to a table with a setting for two. He sits alone, with no date in sight.

"Where's your date?" Alex asks, concerned. He sits on the empty chair and waits for a reply to his question.

Just then, a server brings over a bouquet of sunflowers and a bottle of sake over to the table.

A mischievous smile spreads across Ashly lips and then laughs a giddy laugh.

"Apparently, I really don't have any date. You know I really don't trust any Alpha if the person is not, you my one and only best friend. Actually, it's all for you Alex. You know I miss your birthday last time, so I think about giving you surprise."

"Do you like it?" Ashly asked with big puppy eyes.

Alex opens the card that came with the flowers and happily smiles back at his Ashly.

'His best friend is really death for him.'

Ashly POV: -

He's really very handsome. His long lashes fluttering and those pink kissable lips slightly puckering every time he exhales as he snores loudly, make him even more adorable when he sleeps. Even he is big bad grumpy Alpha for other's but for me, he is my adorable panda whom I love more than anyone.

Even more than myself.

I lay down next to him and continue to watch him in his slumber. He looks very peaceful. It seems like it's the only time that he could relax and let go of all the thoughts that seem to be troubling his mind nowadays. I wonder what they are.

"Tell me what's on your mind. I hope you notice how much I'm missing you right now. We don't get to spend as much time as we did before. Why is that?" I whisper quietly as I brush off strands of hair that have fallen on his face.

"I know you can also feel it, Alex. I know you know we are mates. Then why don't you claim me as your omega? Why don't you stop me when I go to dates with others?" I mummer to myself more than him.

Just before we started our Pediatrics rotation, I invited Alex to play golf with me and my high school friends. I just really wanted to spend some time with him before we become busy with our hospital responsibilities, but he said he had to do something important. There was also this one time when our block went to the beach. I asked him if we could ride a jetski together because I've never done it before, and I was scared to try it on my own. He said that the resort guy should teach me the basics first. After I got the basics down, he refused to ride one with me, or to just go out to sea on separate jetskis together. He said he wanted to take some pictures. I saw him snapping photos from the shore, but I never got to see them. When I asked him about them recently, he just said that they aren't ready yet.

I really don't know what's bothering him. Is he mad at me? Did I do anything wrong? Nah! I'm sure he would tell me if I did. I made him promise to tell me if he ever had any problems with me, and the same goes with me to him. Our nine-year friendship has been smooth sailing since we met on our first year of college.

There is a secret though that I've been keeping. I don't know when it happened and how, but I just feel it—I like my best friend a lot, much more than a bro normally would. Ever since our Bio days, he has been helping me with my academic and extracurricular work. I am a good student, but he pushes me to become better. It's not like we're competing with each other. No, not like that. Instead, he motivates me to do the best that I can, because he also does the same. This is why when we're together, we're unstoppable. Our tandem wins almost all inter-university quiz bees that our professors send us to join.

I really admire him for his intelligence, and he does not flaunt it. I like that about him. He's humbled even if he has the right to be loud about his achievements. Sometimes though, he can get really quiet and anti-social on people, but that's just how shy he is sometimes. People mistake his introverted Ness as a sense of superiority; hence, some people are intimidated by him.

For the past few years though, I'm happy that he has opened himself up, and that he has become more cheerful. He even tells jokes and plays pranks on people-- mostly me. I love seeing him laugh and smile. I love seeing him happy.

I love him.

But I haven't told him about it.

But I thought I really don't need because we are mates.

I can feel it our bond for nine years and I am sure he is also. But he never talks, first I thought he need some time but now I am not sure.

'How much time you exactly need Alex? It's been nine years. When are we going to talk about us?' 

I know everyone around us know this or already feel it. Even one-time Tomy ask me about me and Alex being mates, but I laugh my ass off to him even I am crying from inside. I hope one day we can tell everyone about us being mates. I hope one day we talk about this Alex.

It's scary how things could change between us, if we ever talk about it. I don't know how he would react. Will he say he likes me back? Will he avoid me just like what he seems to be doing recently?

Oh fuck! Does he don't want us? Is that the reason why?

"Alex, do you know that I like you?!" I blurted out the question from my head even before I could stop my own mouth from saying the words.

I hold my breath, hoping that he's still sleeping soundly. A sigh of relief escapes from my lungs after a few seconds of silence.

"Yeah, I know," Alex mumbles.

WTF?! Shitt!

"Alex, are you awake?" I wave my hand over his face, try to blow some air towards him, tickle his sides lightly, but there's no response. Whew, he's still in dreamland! That's a relief. I wonder what he's dreaming about though.

I've actually considered telling him. I'm dying to tell him!

"I want to tell you something too," the guy next to me murmurs again.

I pause. Again, holding my breath, only releasing it after Alex started snoring again.

You're going to kill me with a heart attack dude!

Then he starts giggling.

I've never heard him giggle this way. It's like he's flirting with every titter. It's cute. Very cute.

Who are you flirting with, huh?

"You"

"Who are you talking to?" I ask softly while trying to hold my laughter.

"You"

"Do you like me?"

"Uh-huh"

"Really?"

"Yes."

"For real?"

"Yes," Alex says a little loudly then he starts to moan.

What is this guy dreaming about? It must be really REALLY good. This time I laugh out loud.

I suddenly stop as he clearly says, "I like you, you are my life, my true mate."

Surprised, I hit his face with the pillow I'm holding and fell off the bed, hard.

My phone alarm goes off, and Alex stirs as he wakes up.

I smile as I think he is dreaming about us.

But what if I was wrong and it's not me and someone else?

But Alex is single, and I am his mate. 

It's our destiny.

But what if Alex is not happy with his destiny? What if he doesn't want me because I am omega?

What if he got someone else?
