IRIS'S POV

TROUBLE

As we rode back to the mansion, I couldn't help but notice Gavin's pale face. He looked troubled.

“What's on your mind?” I asked casually.

He glanced at me and then turned his gaze back to the road. He shook his head, paying so much attention on the road as he held the wheels firmly.

“Nothing.” He simply said. It wasn't nothing, I was certain about that. I had no idea about what could be troubling him but hoped he came around.

The silence in the car was defeaning which gave me a chance to think clearly. The attack that had just occured was something that could have destroyed a lot of things if Gavin and I weren't there.

I wondered if I would have been able to fight those rogues off on my own. Maybe I was grateful that Gavin was there with me. We made a great team, no doubt, but he was not going to hear it from me.
