GAVIN'S POV

FEISTY IRIS

"I haven't heard any updates from you, Jerry. Tell me, have you found anything?" I asked, my voice low as I walked down the hallway, my footsteps echoing softly against the polished floors.

I was on the phone with Jerry, my trusted investigator, as I made my way toward Iris’s room.

I wondered if I would still find her confined to that hospital bed. She had been eager to leave for days, but I had discreetly instructed the doctor to keep her from being discharged until she was completely healed. Her well-being was more important than her impatience.

"I'm still on it, sir," Jerry replied, his tone reassuring. I trusted him; Jerry was not the type to leave my orders unfulfilled.

"And what about the sketch?" I asked, rounding a corner. As I did, I overheard a few nurses whispering about the bouquet of roses I was holding. Their admiration for the flowers was evident, and I couldn’t help but hope that Iris would feel the same.
