Jealousy

Aurora couldn’t sleep well, she had been thinking about what Adolphus told her earlier. He told her she was unworthy. She was sad but deep down, she was happy that he didn’t mince his words. She wanted to prove to Lucian and prove to his pack that she was worthy, that she could do anything, and that she was capable of being a Luna because she was not giving up on Lucian anytime soon.

While she was still thinking, she stood up from her bed and walked towards the window only to see Lucian walking towards the mansion. He really was beautiful and she couldn’t help but stare at how devilishly handsome he was under the moonlight. Lucian felt her gaze and had to really fight with everything within him not to look back up. He didn’t believe he could be this hooked; she was a human for goddess sake. His father was right; she was a weakness- a dangerous one.

Aurora walked back to her bed, determined to start learning the things of the Gamma pack immediately after she woke up.

The next day took longer than expected for Aurora, she couldn’t wait to meet Adolphus and ask him a lot of questions. After all, he said he would always be there when she needed him. Although she tried asking him about the things she could do to make her worthy yesterday and he didn’t reply, she was going to keep asking.

She immediately took her bath and wore one of the dresses available in her room. This pack surely dressed differently and she was ready for it. Their dresses were mostly made of silk, satin, or velvet and they were revealing. She also noticed they wore a lot of jewelry. She didn’t see any in her room so she dressed without it. She smiled suddenly while reminiscing about the past, about her family, about her mother. Her mother was also fond of jewelry and she could make dresses too. She had picked up a few skills from her mother so she could make some kind of dresses and she could start doing that here too to pass away time because it didn’t seem like they were going to make her a servant here. Then she remembered her sister and quickly left the room to try to find Adolphus, she had to write Ashina a letter as soon as possible.

She quickly found the stairs and started going downstairs when she saw Lucian having breakfast with another woman. Was he perhaps living with a woman? Who was she? Why didn’t he call her to join him for breakfast? A lot of questions flooded her mind but she kept cool. Soon, the woman noticed her presence and turned to her direction. Lucian smelt her a long time ago but also turned with the woman pretending like he didn’t know she had been coming towards them.

“Oh my, I must say you are so unlucky, Lucian. She also looks weak”, the woman spat.

Lucian ignored the woman, “What do you want?”, he asked Aurora.

“I need to see Adolphus”, Aurora replied casually, pretending that the woman’s words didn’t hurt her and pretending that seeing Lucian together with her didn’t hurt her.

Meanwhile, Lucian’s eyes narrowed at her words. He wondered when she became fond of Adolphus, “If you need anything, ask the servants here. You do not need to see him”.

“No, I need to see him”, she replied.

“You have such guts talking back at him, do you have any idea who he is?”, the woman tried to butt in again.

“It's fine Aliya”, Lucian told the woman.

Aliya. Aurora made sure to keep that name in mind.

Then Lucian’s attention returned to her, “Wait at the waiting room, it's by your left. He’ll be there in five”.

Aurora nodded and made her way to the waiting room while staring at the mansion and trying to familiarize herself with it. The mansion was not as grand as her former master’s but it was nice and warm.

When Aurora left, Aliya turned to Lucian, “You sure have grown a soft spot for your mate”, she noted.

Lucian smiled bitterly, “She is my mate after all”.

Aurora waited for like 30 minutes in the waiting room and didn’t even see a sign of Adolphus. Lucian didn’t even order a servant to serve her breakfast. Since she was just a human, she wondered if the werewolf servants would even spare her a glance as they were all unwelcoming toward humans. Just as she stood up in an attempt to go back to her room, Adolphus walked in.

“What on earth did you tell your mate to make him question our friendship?”, Adolphus joked and hugged her which took Aurora by surprise.

“How have you been enjoying your stay here?”, he asked when he released her.

Aurora scoffed, “I haven’t even had breakfast this morning but he was having breakfast and chatting with an Aliya girl”, she made sure she didn’t forget that name.

Adolphus smirked, “Getting jealous, are we?”

Aurora’s face twitched with disgust, “How will I be jealous? She seems to be unintelligent with a loose mouth considering the fact that she was just running her mouth this morning”.

Adolphus gave a burst of hearty laughter, “She’s his childhood friend”, he then reduced his voice, “And she can be pretty dull too”.

Aurora smiled, happy someone agreed with her.

“Common, let’s go have breakfast”, he said and led her outside Lucian’s house to his own house.

While she was walking with him, she received a lot of stares and glares. She could feel the hatred the pack had for her.  How could they even hate her, they didn’t know her!  It looked like they really would not accept her. Immediately they got seated in Adolphus's house, she spoke firmly, “Teach me the things of this land”.
