Ostana’s Mating

The soul as believed by the werewolves was incomplete without the other half which the moon goddess blessed everyone with. Lucian spent 37 years of his life being incomplete.

He knew she was there. His soul felt her existence, his soul longed for her but where was she? He had learned to live with it, preparing himself to take after his father, Gonzalo Ralph, the Alpha of the Gamma pack. His family had already gave up on him having a soul mate and tried to convince him to form an alliance with the Gritta pack through marriage. The daughter of the Alpha, Princess Ostana’s soul mate died 5 years ago so the pack saw this as the best arrangement.

Lucian was getting ready to move to the Gritta pack to pick up his bride who was supposed to be performing some rites she had to perform before the mating ceremony. He wasn’t looking forward to this because his heart was somewhere and nowhere at the same time. He knew his other half would come to him soon, he didn’t just know when. He wasn’t even sure about it. But his duties came first, he had to get his pack a worthy and strong Luna as Princess Ostana was just the best candidate.

Adolphus, his right-hand man and best friend walked into his room to help him get dressed and saw Lucian already dressed.

“Lucian! I can imagine you can’t wait to see your new bride”, Adolphus joked.

Lucian rolled his eyes and strolled out of the room with Adolphus following him closely behind.

“You’re late”, Lucian said coldly.

“Had to take care of my mate in bed”, he said and winked.

Lucian sighed and continued his casual stroll to the car waiting for him outside his dull-colored Victorian-style mansion to meet his bride who may probably illuminate his dark life.

Looking through her small-sized window, Ashina sighed. It’s been 5 years since her father promised to come back for her and her sister, Aurora. Hailing from a very reputable human family, it was initially hard to come to terms with the fact that she was now a mere slave. And the worst of it all was the fact that she was serving the ferocious beastly animals, the werewolves. She had slowly started to accept her fate. Aurora on the other hand still longed for her father; she couldn’t believe that he was gone so soon.

Ashina kept looking through the window. All the maids were sure busy as the popular Prince; Lucian was to be arriving at their pack in an hour. She didn’t know much but she certainly had heard whispers of how powerful and breathtakingly handsome he was. And not to forget, his dangerous and ruthless side. He once killed 2 betas from this pack, she wondered why Alpha Tidwulf would still want to get his daughter married to him. While thinking about this, she heard a large bang from the door. When she turned she saw the door fall forward with her Aurora behind it and a large weird-looking guy.

“Why are you still in your room? The princess wants the two of you in her room in 2 minutes”, the warden said in his coarse voice and walked away. Ashina stared at the broken door and then went to help her sister up.

“What happened?”, she asked.

Aurora dusted herself as she stood up, “He told me to go to the princess room and I refused so he dragged me down here”.

Ashina shook her head and gave Auroroa a flick on her forehead, “Stop being too stubborn or you won’t last here with these disgusting creatures.

“I don’t even want to last here”, Aurora said with a smile and quickly brought out a box from under the bed they shared, “Let’s look for a nice dress, after all, Prince Lucian will be here today”.

“You mean in 40 minutes time and I don’t get why we should dress well. Just get a dress so we’ll be in the princess chamber before he arrives. There’s no reason to look forward to that dangerous beast”, Ashina said and took up an old-looking beige dress that was already on the bed.

“Sister, if Father doesn’t come for us, hooking up with one of Prince Lucian’s men will be the saving grace”, Aurora reasoned as she stripped to start getting dressed for the occasion.

Ashina chuckled and said, “And what makes you think they’ll spare a maid a glance?”

Aurora winked and brought out a beautiful blue dress. It still looked old but it was far better than what Ashina was wearing.

Ashina gasped, “How did you get that gown? Don’t tell me you stole it?”

“Sister, have you such little faith in me? The stable man got me this only yesterday and there’s no better day to wear it than today”.

Ashina wasn’t comfortable with that but she knew her sister. And she knew no amount of talking would change her mind. They quickly dressed and rushed down to the princess's chambers. Everyone knew about her temper and all. And as they expected, from a distance they could hear her voice and soon they saw people scurrying about. They didn’t even bother to ask what happened, they just ran into her already-opened room.

Immediately they entered, she turned towards their direction and her mood softened a bit. For some odd reason, she had taken a liking to Ashina and Aurora.

“Why are you just coming now? Lucian will be here very soon”, she told them excitedly. Everyone noticed the way she already started calling him by his first name and without his title. Everyone just started leaving the room not wanting to be at the receiving end of her bad temper leaving her and the two sisters.

“You look exceptionally beautiful today my princess, I’m sure he won’t be able to take his eyes off you today”, Aurora praised her while slightly bowing.

Ashina rolled her eyes at Aurora’s praises. Princess Ostana looked just normal to her.

“Thank you, Aurora, for always saying truthful things. You indeed have good eyes for wonderful things”, Ostana praised.

“This praise coming from you is more than enough for me for 10 years”, Aurora replied with a smile that immediately wavered when Princess Ostana turned to face Ashina.

“You look so dull compared to your sister today again…”

Just as Princess Ostana was speaking, her mother walked in, “He’s here”, she told her and then turned to the maids in her room, “Bring her out”.
