Dante's POV
"That came out wrong, Alpha. I hope all is well?" Lucas asked calmly after getting out from the shock.
"Everything is fine. But when it comes to what decisions I make, that is not what you should be worried about, Lucas. At least, there are tons of duties in the pack that need your attention. Remember that the people are watching us," I said, slowly to him as I closed the file I was going through.
I saw how dim his eyes were when I mentioned the 'people'. He kept quiet for a while then said to me.
"I'll go check on the pack and warriors. You don't have to stress yourself too much. But, consider the people when making decisions. I'll take my leave now," He bowed slightly then turned to leave.
I leaned back against my chair as I studied him. Just as his right hand held the knob the door opened by itself… perhaps by someone.
And my attention was drawn to the person who stood there.
"Oh Lucas? I'm sorry," Danciana made way for him to pass but Lucas just snorted at her as he walked past her.
I took notice of this but I wasn't interested to ask what was going on between the both of them.
I watched as Danciana walked towards me with a calm look on her face. I know what she was here for but I'll pretend like I don't know.
"Did anything happen to the pack?" I asked, turning to the files as I got ready to browse through them.
"Nothing… I just wanted to confirm something," She replied calmly and I knew she knew something.
"What may that be?" I asked.
"It's nothing much, my lord. I got an info that there's a perfect subject I can use for my new discovery. And the subject happened to be missing in the pack no matter where I searched. I searched the dungeons both outer and underground. I searched the slaves' cells but I didn't find her. Now I wonder where she will be?" She muttered pacing up and down.
My brows shot up at her words and I stared at her coldly.
"I never mentioned to the pack, nor any of my subjects that I had a slave. And…never about their gender. I wonder where you got this false info?"
She paused slightly then stared at me with a sly smile on her face but they quickly disappeared. I frowned on seeing this wondering if I had said something I shouldn't have.
"Exactly your highness. They were just rumours the pack members have been discussing for hours now. And I just came here to confirm it, but… I guess… or what should I believe? Is it a yes or a no?" She laughed, her right hand covering her lips.
That laughter!
I knew something was wrong all along. She used words to get a hint from me and now she knows that I have the girl in my custody.
"What do you want exactly?" I stared expressionlessly.
" I already did earlier and you gave me your word that you will give me a perfect subject for my new discovery," She clasped her hands excitedly.
"She is not someone suitable for your experiments," I blurted out and she froze.
Her rosy lips parted slightly, as she said:"So it was true?"
Geez!
"Stop being so clingy and leave," I said in frustration. She was just like a cunny fox and sticky as a gum.
"Ah! Is that a yes from you?" She asked, backing away.
" You can't use her for your experiments," I stated coldly. Her shoulders dropped and she gave out a heavy sigh.
"I was excited for nothing," She sniffed, took her board checker and got ready to leave.
I stared at her for a while then got up.
"Only for a few days. But if I see improvements in her you can continue with it for 2 months," I said to her and she stopped then turned to me with glowing eyes."Thank you!" She nodded happily.
"When do I start with the test? My hands are itchy," She said, rubbing her hands together.
I stared at her for a while then said,"You are not bisecting her body. You are only to find a cure for her muteness,"
She stared at me confused,"Oh really? That's not a problem,"
I nodded at her then I walked out of my office with her. She followed behind me slowly but… if I had turned at that moment.
I would have seen the evil in her eyes.
"Where are we going? I guess it's where the subject is right?" She asked her heels rhyming as they connected with the floor.
The place was very quiet which indicated that it was night already. But the beautiful thing about this place was… there were no windows.
I know it sounds silly or stupid. But, this was the place the other Alpha's before me always had their rest when they had every important thing to look into.
I rarely bring my people here, not even my subjects. That was the reason why she was curious about where we were going.
"Your guess is correct," I replied then continued working in silence. It didn't take long before we spotted the masked men.
I turned to Danciana and noticed that she was 15 feets away. She looked kind of pale and I shook my head at this but didn't say anything to her.
"She's in here. You can go check up on her," I said to her and she walked towards the room. I turned to the men there and said,"Come with me,"They nodded then excused themselves. I left the place without a second thought as I trusted that Danciana would do a good job.
I got into my guest room and took a seat on one of the sofas there. The guards entered shortly.
"What batch is this?" I asked.
"4, your highness," They replied in unison.
"Which of the batch took her?" I asked.
"It was batch 3 your highness. We have been on shifts since and…we have been doing a great job," They replied nervously.
I leaned against the chair, my gaze fixed on them. They noticed how intense I was and suddenly they started shivering and fell on their knees.
"H-have we by any chance offended his highness?" They asked, confusion filled in their voices.
I kept quiet deep in thoughts. There was something that happened and up to this point I am still yet to get the answer.
"You did nothing. I was wondering, which of the batch let out the rumours about the slave," I said, my hand brushing against my chin. I stared at them lazily as they kept on babbling words I didn't bother to listen to.
"When you leave this place. Get me the other teams, and do not forget to inform the commanders in the pack about the weekly check-up," I said and they nodded.
"We understand your highness. And there's something you need to know about." One of them said and I noticed that the duo beside him nudged him.
"What is it?" I asked coldly and they flinched.
"We got an info from one of the spies planted in the neighborhood and we got a very important message that… the Alpha's son is sick and he is in need of a physician," He continued and I gave him a confused look.
" And what is so important about that?" I asked.
"No, your highness. Somehow, they are on the move to take Lady Danciana in exchange for something that we lack in the pack," He said.
" My people are not tools that would be traded for stupid interests. And… My pack does not lack anything that will make me so desperate to seek their help." I said firmly.
" Y-yes your highness. B-but they are on their way to the pack and… the disturbing fact about this is. They are coming with 6 generals, it seems this won't be anything called negotiation but force," He replied.
A smile crossed my face when I heard this and I leaned forward. My blood was boiling like hot lava as my alpha aura turned into a fierce domain. I stared at them coldly then said each word with finality.
"Death be upon those who point their swords to my face in exchange for my people. I, Dante Montenegro from the Blood Moon pack, I build my throne with the skeletons of my enemies,"
Aurelia's POV'When will I get out of here?' I shook my head slightly as the temperature here was unbearably cold. I held my knees tightly to my chin level as I got lost in thoughts. If I can truly pass all the trails set by him and prove to him and his people that I can be their Luna. That would be so lovely.I held my chin happily as I felt them burning up.'Don't tell me I am blushing? Just the thought of me standing by him addressing his people as his Luna alone makes me excited!' I screamed inwardly as my back came into contact with the soft bed.I sighed heavily, staring at the white ceiling. It was quiet all around. Not even the familiar sounds of crickets were heard. With my clear vision I was able to see things around. I turned to face the wall as I kept on thinking about all the things that I will have to go through to make it up to him."Kekeke," I laughed mischievously but it came out foolishly to my ears.I rolled my eyes and was about to keep up with the fantastical thou
Aurelia's POVI stared at her dumbfounded by the revelation. What does she mean by that?"I don't really understand. What's going on?" I said to myself as I stared around. I noticed the various instruments around, even those I wasn't able to recognize. She left where I was and headed to a machine that looked like a scan."I found some virus in your system when you were unconscious and i think they have a hand to do with all of this," She replied as if she knew what was going through my mind.Virus? What virus was she talking about?"Is it contagious?" Fear was written all over my face as my lips parted hard to say those words bit by bit.A chuckle rang out then she turned to me."If it was really that contagious the lord would have been the first to contact it. Tell me…," She paused as she said this and my head tilted sideways in confusion. What does she want to ask from me? I thought inwardly as I kept on staring at her."What is it?" I asked. I felt a gush of cold wind brush against
Aurelia's POV"Why aren't you asking about your people? Aren't you curious to know if they come looking for you? Or if they missed you? Since you came here you have never shown any reluctance to leave. I wonder why it's so?" He threw hundreds of questions at me and I don't even know which one of them I should answer first. He shot me a look and a frown replaced his cold expression. He stared at the door and then at me."Aren't you coming in?" He asked, coldly. Subconsciously I flinched back and held the door.A smirk crossed his lips but that was all he didn't do anything. Why was I shivering? Am I that scared of him or what about what he said?My people came looking for me but why? Am I not the insignificant princess again? What more do they want from me?I let go of the door, took a deep breath and then strode inside the room with silent steps. I looked around and noticed the well furniture room. There was a shelf at the end of the room and the curtain was loose preventing the light
Alpha Dante's POV"What is to report all about?" I asked her immediately, I saw the fragile girl leaving.Danciana stared at me with an expressionless gaze."It's about one of the warriors in the pack. I noticed that he has been injured internally and it's affecting his inner beast," She kept the file on the desk and pushed it towards me while still maintaining eye contact.I ignored the look she gave me as I don't have the luxury to explain myself to people."How did this happen?" I asked her and she shook her head then said."Either one of the enemies during the last confrontation used a forbidden tool on him and that's why he has been like this for weeks now. I am afraid if we don't find out what tool was used on him. He is going to die," She stated calmly. My fist curled into a fist as I read the report. I took a deep breath and then fell into deep thoughts." What about Lucas?" I asked."Where is he and what is he doing concerning this matter?" I asked and she smiled."I've not
Alpha Dante's POV I stared at Aurelia, my voice tinged with a mix of amusement and superiority as I delivered the words I knew would sting. "Your mother doesn't want to see you again," I told her, a smirk playing on my lips. Aurelia's eyes met mine, a flicker of hurt and confusion passing through them before she shifted her attention to the book she held in her hands. She began writing in it, her pen swiftly gliding across the pages, as if seeking solace in the act of putting her thoughts into words. Her silence grated on my nerves, and I couldn't resist taunting her further. "So, you still want to go home, huh? Even if your mother doesn't want you?" I let out a loud, mocking laugh, relishing in the power I held over her emotions. It was satisfying to see her discomfort, to witness the cracks forming in her resolve. Curiosity got the better of me, and I leaned in closer, narrowing my eyes at her. "What do you think you'll find at home, Aurelia? A warm embrace? Love? Acceptance?" My
Alpha Dante's POVI focused my attention back on the document spread out before me, the weight of responsibility pressing upon my shoulders. The room fell silent after Aurelia's departure, but I could feel Danciana's gaze fixed upon me. Curiosity got the better of me, and I looked up, meeting her intense gaze. There was a hint of concern in her eyes, as if she had sensed something amiss."Why are you staring at me like that?" I asked, trying to maintain a composed demeanor.Danciana hesitated for a moment before gathering her thoughts and responded, "I'm sorry, Alpha Dante. It's just that you seemed distant, lost in your thoughts. I wanted to make sure everything was alright."I sighed inwardly, appreciating her genuine concern. "I appreciate your concern, Danciana," I replied, offering her a small smile. "But rest assured, I'm fine. We have important matters at hand, and it's crucial that we focus on our duties."Danciana nodded, her eyes still fixed on me. "Of course, Alpha Dante. I
Aurelia's POVI quickly jumped up to my feet the moment I heard the room door open. My heart raced in my chest as I stood trembling, hoping it wasn't Alpha Dante coming to punish me for trying to escape earlier. But to my relief, it was Danciana, the pack's doctor, who entered the room. She approached me with a kind smile, asking how I was doing and how my night was. I desperately wished I could answer her verbally, but my voice had been taken from me.Danciana handed me a book and a pen, signaling for me to scramble my response upon its pages. I took the pen with shaky hands and wrote down that I wasn't fine. She glanced at my words and nodded, understanding the weight of my suffering. "It's normal for you to not be fine, Aurelia," she said softly, her eyes filled with empathy. "You have a mate who doesn't care about you, who only wants to hurt you." The truth of her words struck me deep, and I trembled at the realization of my predicament.Danciana closed the door, creating a sense
Danciana's POVAs Alpha Dante left the room, a wave of relief washed over me. I had just finished a conversation with Aurelia that could potentially have serious consequences. I couldn't help but wonder if Dante had overheard our exchange. Although his demeanor seemed unchanged, I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that I needed to err on the side of caution.I turned to Aurelia, who was still writing her response on the book. I knew I had to play it cool, so I smiled and said, "Aurelia, let's continue this conversation another time. I think we both need a break right now. We can start the speech therapy class later, alright?"Aurelia paused, her gaze flickering between me and the book. She seemed slightly puzzled but nodded in agreement and wrote in the book. "Sure, Danciana. I understand. We can pick up where we left off later. Take care of yourself, okay?""Thank you, Aurelia," I replied, trying to mask my anxiety. "You take care too. We'll make progress together, I promise." W
Aurelia's Point Of ViewI took a deep breath, my heart heavy with the burden of forgiveness and reconciliation. "Dante," I began, "I know that Vivian was involved in what happened to me, and I can't deny the pain and betrayal I felt. But I also know that she was manipulated by Genevieve, just as I was."Dante regarded me with a mixture of pride and concern. "Aurelia, forgiveness is a noble path, but it's not always easy. Are you sure this is what you want?"I nodded firmly, my resolve unwavering. "Yes, Dante. I believe that forgiveness can heal wounds and strengthen bonds. Vivian was once a dear friend, and I want to offer her a chance to make amends. Maybe, in doing so, we can rebuild the trust we once shared."Dante's expression softened, and he gently squeezed my shoulder. "You have a compassionate heart, my love. If that is your wish, then we shall go to Vivian and extend our forgiveness."Tears of gratitude welled up in my eyes as I embraced my mate. It was a step toward healing
Danciana's Point Of View I found myself standing at the edge of the dense forest, hidden in the cloak of shadows, my heart racing like a wild stallion. The tantalizing whispers of intrigue had reached my ears, carried by the winds of gossip that blew through our pack like a tempest. Alpha Augustine, the unyielding leader of the neighboring pack, had issued an ominous decree—the arrest of Genevieve, Aurelia's stepmother. I couldn't simply ignore the electric curiosity that surged through me. I had to know every detail of what was transpiring. With each cautious step, I ventured further into the foreign territory that belonged to our neighboring pack. The scent of unknown wolves hung heavy in the air, a strange and potent mixture with the familiar earthy aroma of the woods. It wasn't long before the clearing came into view, a bustling hub of activity teeming with pack members. My keen eyes roved through the crowd, searching for the familiar faces of my own pack mates. I approached Ezra
Bryan's Point of viewI couldn't believe my eyes. Was that Aurelia? I thought she was dead. So, Genevieve only lied to me. This was unfair. How could I have believed her? I neglected my own daughter so much, and now I feel like the worst father in the world. I felt like I let my own daughter down. I felt like I had ignored her when she needed me the most.My heart pounded in my chest as I walked up to my daughter, each step heavy with the weight of regret and longing."Aurelia," I called out, my voice choked with emotion. She turned towards me, her eyes widening in disbelief, and then she rushed into my arms, embracing me with a warmth that washed away the years of guilt and sorrow. "Father. I missed you so much," she whispered, tears streaming down her cheeks."I'm so sorry, Aurelia," I whispered back, my own tears mixing with hers. "I'm so sorry for neglecting you. I should have watched over you and taken care of you. It's all my fault. I thought I lost you.""You didn't lose me, Da
Genevieve's Point Of ViewI knew I was my own downfall, and no matter what I did, Alpha Augustine would still punish me. All I could do now was to plead with my stepdaughter Aurelia for kidnapping her and trying to kill her. I could be locked up for more than twenty years in a dungeon for my crimes. And I was scared to death that my mate Bryan may find out about Casey being my daughter, which no one knows for the past twenty-three years of her life.As I scanned the crowd, my heart sank as I saw Bryan join the gathering, his eyes filled with concern and curiosity. Panic surged within me, knowing that his presence might unearth the dark secret I had harbored for so long. The thought of losing him, the only source of solace in my turbulent life, was unbearable.Summoning every ounce of courage I had left, I rushed towards Aurelia, my knees hitting the ground hard as I knelt before her, tears streaming down my face. "Aurelia, please," I begged, my voice trembling with desperation. "I'm s
Aurelia's Point Of View:I sat down in my small, dimly lit room, engrossed in the pages of a thrilling novel. The world within the book offered a brief escape from the harsh reality I had been living through. Angela, my loyal and compassionate friend, walked in, her footsteps barely making a sound on the creaky wooden floor. She cleared her throat gently, breaking the silence that enveloped me."Hey, Aurelia," Angela said softly, concern etched into her features. "How are you holding up?"I closed the book and looked up at her, offering a faint but grateful smile. "I'm doing as well as I can, Angela. Thanks to you, I'm safe now."Angela's eyes softened, and she shook her head. "You don't have to thank me, Aurelia. I couldn't let them take you."I nodded, my heart swelling with gratitude for my friend's unwavering support. "I know, but I still appreciate everything you've done for me."Curiosity danced in Angela's eyes as she pulled up a chair and sat down beside me. "So, what's your n
Genevieve's Point Of ViewI was in my car, parked inconspicuously at our usual meeting spot, waiting for Casey. The cold air inside the car did little to alleviate the growing unease in my chest. Each passing second felt like an eternity, and my impatience was getting the best of me.Finally, the car door swung open, and Casey slipped into the passenger seat. Her face was a mosaic of emotions - anxiety, relief, and something else I couldn't quite place. I couldn't hide my irritation as I turned to her, my fingers tapping impatiently on the steering wheel."What took you so long, Casey?" I snapped, my tone sharp and accusatory.Casey's eyes darted around nervously, her lips trembling. "I'm sorry, Genevieve," she stammered, her voice quivering. "I... I couldn't find Vivian at our usual meeting spot."My heart skipped a beat, and a shiver of fear raced down my spine. Panic began to well up within me as I asked, "Are you absolutely sure? Did she say anything about us?"Casey's voice remai
Alpha Dante's Point Of ViewThe moon hung low in the velvety night sky, casting a soft, silvery glow over the secluded forest clearing where Aurelia and I stood. Her presence, so close yet seemingly distant, was like a fragile flame struggling against the encroaching darkness. Her eyes, once bright and full of life, now held a shadow of fear that sent shivers down my spine."Aurelia," I implored, my voice laced with a mixture of desperation and longing. I took a step closer to her, my senses attuned to every nuance of her body language. "You can't keep running from this, from us. You can't hide forever. Come home with me, please."She hesitated, the night breeze ruffling her dark hair as she turned her gaze away from me, as if searching for answers among the stars. "Alpha Dante," she finally spoke, her voice a fragile whisper in the night. "You don't understand. There are people after my life. They won't rest until I'm dead."My heart clenched at the raw fear in her words, the thought
Alpha Dante's Point Of ViewI told Angela that I wanted to see my missing mate Aurelia, since she knows where she is. She told me that Aurelia is in her Pack. I told her to get into the car, and we drove through the dense, moonlit forest. The anticipation was building within me with each passing mile.Angela kept glancing at me, concern etched across her face. "Dante, I didn't expect things to play out like this," she began, her voice quivering with uncertainty. "This is so sudden for Aurelia, and she doesn't know that I've revealed the truth about her rescue and her safety."I tightened my grip on the steering wheel, my knuckles turning white. "What do you mean, Angela? Why wouldn't Aurelia know? Is she in danger?"Angela sighed, her eyes fixed on the winding road ahead. "No, it's not that, Dante. It's just that she's been through so much. She was terrified, wondering what you would think of her after everything she endured."I glanced at Angela, the weight of my actions weighing hea
Angela's Point Of ViewI decided to meet with Alpha Dante and tell him what's really going on. It wasn't just about clearing Aurelia's name; it was about revealing the truth that she never poisoned him and never ran away. I knew it was going to be a tough sell, especially with all the evidence stacked against her. But I couldn't stand by and watch her suffer for a crime she didn't commit.I picked up my phone and dialed Danciana's number. She was not only a close friend but also the pack's trusted doctor. We had worked together countless times, and I knew I could rely on her. When she answered the call, her voice was laced with concern. "Angela, is everything all right? You're not feeling unwell, are you?"I hesitated for a moment, grappling with the weight of the situation. Finally, I replied, "No, Danciana, I'm physically fine. But there's something urgent I need to take care of today. It's a matter of great importance."There was a pause on the other end of the line as Danciana pro
