Elena's POV

He caught me staring.

I blinked, lips stretching into a smile...too late to look away now. Besides, if I wanted him to like me, why not let him see I liked him first?

Noah raised an eyebrow, his voice low with amusement. “Why are you staring at me?”

My smile widened. “Because you’re really handsome.”

Yup. I actually said that. Out loud. In front of him and not just in my head.

I was getting pretty bold.

But I wasn’t lying; he was breathtaking. Noah’s face flushed slightly with a light shade of pink, and he let out a cough, his gaze flicking back to the screen.

Fuck, was he...blushing?

I could have let out a high squeal in joy.

Noah Reynolds was blushing!

God. He looked even hotter blushing.

I propped my chin on my palm, still watching him. Was he even aware of how perfect his face was? People in my line of business spend hours, or even days to make their faces like this; perfect, to attract other rich people

But he just got it for free.

Good genes perhaps.

“Stop staring already,” he grumbled, coughing again.

I chuckled, still looking at him. “Then stop looking so handsome.”

He turned to me, a spark of challenge in his eyes. “Now that’s impossible.” he was enjoying his.

Of course, men loved being praised.

That smug grin. Ugh, narcissist much. “Then I guess looking away will be impossible too.”

My words brought out a throaty laugh from him.

His laugh was sudden, deep, and stupidly attractive. The kind that makes your heart stop for a second.

And mine did.

I froze, watching him. When he laughed like that, he didn’t look real...he looked like a damn dream. It wasn’t fair.

“You should laugh more,” I said quietly still watching him. “It brightens the room.”

His laughter slowly faded. He turned to me, and this time... there was no smirk. No teasing glint. Just quiet. Focus. I could feel the air around us shifting, but it wasn't suffocating.

I stared back, heart stuttering. We were having a moment. One of those moments.

Yes!

This is working!!!

I started to lean in for a kiss but...

“Hushhhhh!”Numerous people suddenly hushed us all at the same time.

Right. We were still in the movie theater.

Surrounded by people. People who did not care that I was about to kiss Mr. Hot CEO.

People who were so blind to not know how much this would mean for me... great, just great.

“Sorry,” I whispered, my face heating up in embarrassment.

God, why did I pick a theater?

I leaned harder on my seat, trying to make myself disappear, but Noah...well, he was just being himself. He leaned closer, whispering, “Why are you apologizing?”

I blinked once taking aback.

“We’re in a theater,” I whispered back. “We can’t just… talk freely. It’s annoying to others.”

“So my laugh was annoying?” he asked, genuinely confused.

I blinked again. Okay, wow. This man might be hot, and rich, but he was also blissfully unaware of basic public etiquette. I opened my mouth to explain, but before I could...

A theater manager appeared beside us.

I immediately looked away, eyes glued to the screen. Maybe if I pretended hard enough, I’d blend into the chair. Or better yet, he would just leave.

But Noah? Noah just ignored the guy like he didn’t exist.

“Hey…” he nudged me again. “What were you about to say?”

“Not now,” I hissed.  Couldn't see the man standing just right beside him?

Even if he could, Noah just didn't care.

“Layla…” he nudged me again and I cringed.

Oh God, let me just disappear. I almost cried.

The manager gave him a beat. Just one. And then: “Excuse me, sir, you’ll have to leave.”

Noah turned, completely unfazed. “Why?” his tone was cold; actually, that was quite normal.

Oh, no.

I could see it coming. That sentence. 'Do you know who I am?' The phrase that ruins lives.

And coming from someone like Noah Reynolds...before the manager would be able to 'figure out ' who he was, Noah would have bought this entire place.

Before he could finish, I jumped in. “We’re really sorry, sir,” I said to the manager, dragging Noah up by the hand. “We’ll leave now.”

And I didn’t wait for Noah to argue. If he said one more word, the man might G****e him and ban me from this place forever. And I liked their popcorn.

Or worse, I would never be able to come back here because anytime I do, they would be like...' Oh, isn't that the girl that came with Mr. Reynolds?'

And that would be terrible especially if my work was already done. If he looked hard enough for me, he would find me and then I'll be doomed.

I smiled awkwardly at every judgmental stare as we left, and they were a lot.

Once outside, Noah frowned. “Why did we have to leave?”

Huh?

I stopped, turning slowly to face him. “Did you seriously just ask me that?”

“What? Was I supposed to let him kick me? Us out?”

“Oh my God.” I facepalmed. “You were going to tell him who you were, weren’t you?”

“Well… if I had to.”

This man was going to be the death of me.

I took a deep breath. It was fine. The night wasn’t ruined yet.

“Layla,” he nudged me again, and I snapped.

“What? What? What?!”

He didn’t flinch. Just smiled, that damn half-smile that made my stomach flip. “Are you angry?”

No, of course not. I love getting kicked out of places with men who have no indoor voice.

“I’m fine,” I said, lying through my teeth.

“You sure? Because your face is all puffed up. It makes you look cute.”

I stared at him.

Cute?

My angry face was… cute?

This mad always had a way of making me tongue-tied, Just static in the brain.

I closed my eyes, breathed in, and opened them again.

“Alright,” I said calmly. “The night isn’t over yet.”

He wasn’t going home thinking I was just ‘cute.’

No. I was a goddess. A queen. Someone he is supposed to get married to!

Not cute!

Grabbing his hand, I turned to him with a grin.

“Ice cream?” I asked.

His eyes lit up like a kid offered candy.

“Only if you’re buying.”

Why was he acting so...so...I didn't even have the words for it.

But since he wasn't complaining, why should I?

With a sigh, I dragged him to the nearest ice cream parlor around and bought two cups.

"What now?" He asked as we returned from the parlor. We both still had our cups in hand filled with ice cream.

"How about we just...how about we just walk and talk?"

Instantly my brain registered that as a terrible plan.

Walk and talk?

What if he asked me questions? Questions that only the real Layla would have answers to.

I was yet to discover who the fuck that was, so if he did, I might just get caught.

"Or maybe we could.." I wanted to change my words, but Noah just shrugged.

"No," I froze. "let's talk."

Fuck.

Elena, what have you done to yourself?

  • Mr. Reynolds, your wife is an imposter    Chapter 1 Hello beautiful

Elena's POV My eyes scanned the room, searching not for something but someone; my next target. I was at Diamond's Bar, the most exclusive spot in the country where men of all calibers and races came to unwind. Among the sea of opulence, I was looking for more than just anyone. The place was filled with wealthy patrons, walking ATMs as I saw them. But tonight, I had my sights set on a specific individual. Turning slightly, I examined the crowd. To the far left on the stage was Adam Richmond, a fifty-five-year-old billionaire with two married daughters, indulging in an unseemly dance with a stripper. “Shameless,” I muttered under my breath. Richmond’s behavior was disgraceful, his actions more befitting a man half his age. “Not this one,” I decided. He’d be too easy, and I wasn’t looking for an easy mark. I needed someone more... elusive. My gaze shifted to another man, dressed in a dark blue suit, seated alone and observing the room with the same intensity I had. The bright lig

  • Mr. Reynolds, your wife is an imposter    Chapter 2 Operation successful

Elena's POV I blinked slowly, my jaw dropping in disbelief. I had expected Mr. Mysterious to be handsome, but nothing prepared me for this. The man before me was nothing short of godlike. He was tall...easily over six feet, with muscles that strained against his tight black designer shirt. His hair was a striking shade of black, brushed back with a few stray strands falling onto his forehead. His deep black eyes radiated a cold, intimidating presence. He looked like Superman come to life, but just a lot more handsome. My heart fluttered just at the sight of him. “I said, let her go,” he repeated, his voice icy and commanding. ‘Get yourself together, Elena. He’s just a man,’ I told myself, though he was undeniably stunning. I shook off my daze, pulling my hands free from the bearded man’s grasp. “He said let me go, you idiot.” The bearded man looked utterly shocked. Then, to my astonishment, he dropped to his knees and bowed, banging his head on the floor with a resounding thud

Noah's POV A Few Hours Ago He was gone again. How could he leave without any of my men noticing? He was a 70-year-old man, for crying out loud! “Find him, goddammit!” I cursed, grinding my teeth. Where could he have gone this time? The two men beside me nodded and left the bar to search for my grandfather once more. That demented old man had been a thorn in my side for months. Now he’d taken to vanishing, leaving me frantic and worried. “Boss, Old Master Reynolds can take care of himself. He’ll be fine,” Joshua, my personal bodyguard, said calmly. I snorted, shaking my head. A few years ago, I might have believed him. But not now. Not with my grandfather’s dementia worsening. He did foolish things and said nonsensical things. He might be the death of me one day. And it was all because of that one person that left a permanent scare in his life few years ago. “I swear I’ll find the bastard who did this to him and make them pay,” I vowed menacingly, a fierce glint in my eye

Noah's POV Joshua and one of the men I’d hired to find my grandfather approached me, and I quickly withdrew my hands from the bold lady, untangling them. ‘Please don’t let them see that,’ I prayed inwardly. I had a reputation to uphold, after all. I felt a twinge of pride stinging me. “Boss, we’ve found him,” Joshua said, his face a mix of delight and confusion as his eyes darted towards the bold lady. “Found who?” she asked daringly. I frowned, throwing her a sharp glare. How could a woman be so bold? It was no wonder she was able to get into trouble with Bevel Fisher so quickly. Whatever. This was my fault, anyway. If I’d kept to myself and not interfered, none of this would have happened. But I couldn’t just stand by and watch Bevel drag her away. Why was that? I pulled out a handkerchief from my inner pocket and wiped my hands. It would have been impossible for Joshua and the other guy not to notice her touch, so I had to do something to clear their suspici

Elena's POV We sat across from each other in the fancy restaurant, he just arrived there so the waiter had yet to attend to us, only the customary wine...which looked really expensive by the way, was on the table, but I felt uncomfortable. Seriously, something in me told me not to dress like this. It was too...well, too opened. But no, my pride refused to let me be. Noah had diminished my looks not just once, but twice! The first time in Diamonds when he even went as far as using a handkerchief to clean his hands after I held on to them, while the second was at the club. I just had to change the impression I made on the guy to something much, much different, and I was sure with this dressing that I did, but it turns out I didn't only change his impression of me. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, the lady's eyes went to Noah while the men, well, me. Normally I would bask in the attention they were giving me, but not today. Instead, I felt nervous... Elena's POV My mouth hung opened as I stepped into the main room, passing through the door which was opened so widely. "And I thought Layla's house was huge." Being a con artist had its perks. I could see different beautiful mansions, houses that cost millions of dollars and maybe, if I played my cards well enough, stay for the night. But never had I seen a house as big as this one. Like hell! This house was huge!!! Actually, I saw the house when I was like 20 miles away from the place, but my eyes didn't linger. I had no idea it was the place I was heading to. But then again, what was I expecting? From everything Layla told me about this Reynolds family, this was practically nothing. I had just finished dressing when Noah called me. He said he was having someone pick me up to his house and asked for my address. And yes, as expected I panicked.I couldn't just tell him the address of an hotel, that was degrading! His real fiancee would definitely not be staying at a hotel. F

Worse come to worse, you'll ditch the guy and leave the country again this for a few years for him to calm down." I smiled, nodding my head. "Or better, I could make him fall in love with me, and he would just forgive me."Layla raised one of her brows at me and I giggled. "Okay, making him fall in love with me is too big of a deal...but trust me when I say this, after I leave it would be hard for Noah Reynolds to forget me."This was going to be one of my biggest jobs yet, and I was going to pull it off like I always did. Nothing was going to stop me. Layla and I chatted for a few more hours, catching up with each other on things we missed in each other's lives and before I knew it, it was past 9.I needed to go back to the hotel I was lodged at. Leaning closer towards her I asked. "So..." It took a second before she understood and she shook her head. Standing up she said. "Give me a second." Then she turned around and began walking up the stairs. "Aish...she didn't even offer me a drink." I thought out loud after I looked at the table beside me to see nothing there. Standing up I walked towards the kitchen...or where I thought was the kitchen. "Yes! It's the kitchen." I exclaimed in excitement. I took a cup and opened the fridge picking a bottle of water before returning back to the sitting room to find Layla already sitting there with a laptop in her hand. "Really? You couldn't even offer me a drink." "Yeah because you are not a stranger in this house." She said, calming clicking away on her laptop. Not a stranger???"This is
