Immediately, Natalie lost her appetite. She had not responded to Alex's greetings, and she didn't even feel guilty about it. She went to her room, locked herself in, and cried. She wept for her life and her brother's.

She logged in to the Uber app and called one. She was taking a taxi back home. She knew her mom would not take it lightly, but she didn't care.

Five minutes later, she went down the stairs and told her mom that she was leaving. Genevieve didn't try to stop her. She didn't even ask how she would get home, and that hurt Natalie as well.

She boarded, and they left. She was lucky she always carried her credit cards with her wherever she went. She couldn't imagine what would have happened if she didn't have any cash.

She got home and found a strange car in the compound, but there was no one around. She went to her room, took a bath, and, feeling bored, decided to call Jonathan. She was surprised to hear his phone ring inside the house.
