Chapter 7

I just want to save him from the insanity

We haven't talked to Luke since we got home. Maybe he's busy. I look at the clock and it's 7 in the morning. I immediately fix myself and went to the university. While walking alone I thought of keeping an eye on the two (Cara and Nathan) I thought I needed to know what was wrong with the two of them. They seem to have a conscious connection to each other. Not far before entering the university gate I saw Nathan sitting on the bumper of his car. I was getting closer when Cara suddenly ran closer to him. I hid in a corner and listened intently to their conversation. 

Cara kissed Nathan on the lips and immediately hugged him. Then they immediately got inside the car. From where I was hiding I could see the two of them in the car kissing. I couldn't hear their conversation so I came a little closer and Cara opened the car window just in time.

"Babe, it looks like our plan is working. How was it? You need to fulfill what we agreed" Cara said.

"I know that Luke will fall to you, because you're so beautiful, it's impossible for him not to be attracted to you. Don't worry babe, we'll leave tomorrow. You'll choose the car yourself as I promised you." Nathan replied while rubbing Cara's shoulder.

"Wow! Really babe! But what about Luke. Do I have to break up with him?" Cara asked.

"Not now. Make him look like a fool like what he did to me before in that way I can get revenge on him. I will never forget that day." Nathan replied with an angry tone.

I was surprised by what I heard. Because of my anxiety, I ran away going inside the gate when I bumped into a woman who is walking. I caught Cara's attention. They both stared at me. Cara got out of the car, immediately approached me and confronted me.

"You're Leigh! How are you? Looks like you're spying on us?" Shevsaid to me while smiling.

"I don't know that my suspicion of you two is correct. Thank you and I heard from you personally that you all planned to hurt Luke. I don't understand why you are doing this to him? Don't you know that Luke loves you so much ! " I shouted in front of her while crying. I tried to be brave but why can't I be so hurt for Luke.

"Yes Leigh, everything is planned. He's at fault for Nathan. I'm just helping Nathan to get revenge. And what are you going to do now? Are you going to report me? Okay go ahead. Let's see if he believes you." She still smiled at me.

Cara left and immediately entered the university.

I sat on the side and wondered how I would say this to Luke. Will he believe what I say? I asked myself. I wiped away my tears. I immediately stood up and started looking for Luke.

I convinced myself to tell everything that I knew but I am afraid of the thoughts if he will believe me. As I walk along the hallway I saw Luke at the corner. He was alone. I approached to him. 

"Hey Luke! Can I talk to you in private? This is an important matter." I asked him and immediately pulled his hands and go to the quite place. 

"What's seem to be the problem?" He asked me like he was wondering why I had to talk to him privately.

"I don't know if you would believe me or not. But whatever happens please remember that I am here to protect you. Have you remember causing any trouble to Nathan?" I asked him to know the truth. I looked at him with my eyes wondering.

"Nathan? What about him? He was the Engineering Student right? That bastard!" He replied with the angry tone. 

"Yes. Have you done something bad to him?" I follow up the question.

"He was the one wo have done somethig wrong with me. I remembered joining a cooking contest. He was one of the judges. In front of many people, I remember him embarassed me. He belittled me in front of many people. I was ashamed and because of madness, I throw to him the food that I cooked on the contest. From that day he hated me and I didn't know that he was a student here in the University." He explained to me.

"I see. He was so mad at you. He wants to take revenge. Cara and Nathan planned to make you their victim and that is to make you fall inlove with Cara. In return, once you fell for Cara, Nathan will buy new car for Cara." I explained to him sincerely however he was staring at me and I felt that he is so confused.

"What are you saying? Cara won't do that to me. I know that she loved me the way I love her." He replied with the angry tone. 

"I know what you feel however you need to believe in me. I heard them talking inside the car. Cara and Nathan are lovers. They planned everything. They want to embarassed you in front of many students here." I begged him to believe in me. I tried to hold his hand however he pushed me away. 

"Stop! Please stop all this. That's impossible. Your just trying to ruin our relationship." He shouted at me. 

As he shouted at me, some of student were looking at me including Cara who was just standing at the corner and laughing silently. I got pissed off by her attitude. Luke went away from me. He saw Cara and stopped then he leave with Cara. 

My bestfriend is mad at me. I can't believed that myself. He was completely blinded by the fact that he really loves Cara. I sat at the stair beside me. I nodded my head. I should have not told him. What would I do? I kept asking myself what should I do. 

After class I went home alone. I have not seen him anywhere. Maybe he was that mad at me. I sat at the chair beside my window. My phone rings. I came to bed to pick up the phone call. 

"You were my bestfriend but we need to end this. I don't want Cara to leave me. From now on I will ignore you. Please don't call or text me. Let's make it clear that I chose Cara over you." He spoke in cold tone then he hang up.

I was shocked. I can't believed by what he have said to me. Is it really Luke? I started to cry. I cried so much. I lose my bestfriend. I lose the one that I love the most. I never had a chance to say sorry for what I did. I didn't mean to hurt him. But I know mysel that I did the right. I am just trying to save him from this insanity.

I lay down and start to cry again. 

Days have passed. I missed him so much. From that day we never talk. I never had a chance to get close to him. If I approached him, he always runaway from me. He don't really want to talk to me and that is obvious. I take breaks and lunch alone. I always saw them at the cafeteria with Cara and with their new circle of friends. He looks so happy while I am here all alone. I stared at him, he looked away. Am I gonna lost my bestfriend forever? 

One afternoon, I went to library. I saw him alone. He looks so busy. I want to come closer to him but I am afraid. I passed him and sat on the very last chair. I know that he saw me but he never even called my name. I take a glimpsed look but he was busy reading books.
