I turned around towards Matthew my face full of confusion.

“Why are we here?” I asked, pointing to my parent’s house behind me.

He stepped forward, grabbed my hand and said to me “Ali, I love you, and I know you love me. That gives me enough reassurance that you want to be together.”

I smiled and nodded my head, agreeing with his comment, that I am in love with him. I love everything about this man.

“I was raised to ask a woman’s parents for permission first, before you date the woman you are in love with,” he said, emphasizing on the word ‘first’ to me.
