JAX’S POV.

I turned to send another glance at her again before settling my eyes back on the breakfast I was trying to make.

“You good?.” I asked and heard her hum from behind.

“Yea, just some headache.” She responded her left palm placed under her jaw as she glued her eyes to me. “What are you cooking?.” She asked, and I immediately knew it wasn’t because she was curious. She didn’t want me to press the issue further, so she was quiet for two days.

“Scotch eggs,” I said, my voice filled with pride. Cooking was a great habit of mine, something that I loved to do with so much joy. I learned it from my Mother while growing up. She used to do that whenever she was feeling sad and down. Whenever Father provoked her and treated her like….. Anyways it was a great experience.

“Scotch eggs!.” She exclaimed as if she was shocked. “How come I can’t make those, and you can?.” She asked, her voice low and weak.

I laughed softly and then shrugged my shoulders before responding.
