Ava's POV

Ava's heart pounded in her casket as she stood in the dimly lit alley, her brand gripped tightly in her hand. The air was thick with pressure, the only sounds being the heavy breaths of her assaulters and the distant hum of the megacity.

She could see their eyes flashing with vicious intent, their forms shrouded in the dark cloaks of the black witch's pets. There were too numerous of them far further than she could hope to fend off alone. Yet she fought on, her blade flashing in the meager light that filtered through the narrow alley.

Her movements were nippy and precise, and each swing of her brand was a testament to her training and determination. She had faced numerous foes before, but these pets were different, stronger, and more grim.

They moved with a creepy collaboration, girding her with rehearsed ease. Despite her stylish sweats, she set up herself being pushed back, her defenses gradually weakening under the grim assault.
