The talk

After Sophie left, Riley tried to sleep. But just like every other night for the past two days, sleep refused to come near her. She laid down on the bed, idly looking at the ceiling when she heard the door opening and closing. She doesn't have to get up and see who it is. Her senses have alerted her of his presence. Her nostrils are tingling with his woodsy scent, and her stupid heart skipped a beat.

She didn't get up from the bed, even though she wanted to go and demand where he disappeared to. She lay there quietly, listening to his approaching footsteps.

He entered the bedroom and quietly sat near the foot of the bed, facing away from her. She turned her gaze and looked at his broad shoulders and narrow waist. She forced her eyes not to move down, even though a part of her wanted to.

She is angry and felt like an outsider after he dumped her in his quarters and left.

"How are you feeling?"

"I want to leave"

They both said at the same time.
