Peter's POV
As we left the restroom, I couldn't help but feel annoyed at the fact Anna left the mansion.
Doesn't she know about the troubles we are facing? I can't have her wandering about my knowledge.
“Why did you leave the mansion?” I turned to her, my tone firm as we left the convenience section.
“I didn't leave the mansion on-”
“Hey! There you are… I've been looking everywhere for you.”
As Anna tried to explain herself, Thea interrupted, walking towards us quickly and hugging Anna. Then I realized it was Thea who was responsible for Anna leaving the mansion.
“Where did you stay so long, hmm?” She asked, with a concerned look, “I started to think you ran away because of the price tag.” She pouts her lips.
“I… I.” Anna stammered before I spoke.
“Why did you take Anna out of the mansion without my approval?” I asked her, my voice firm but sounding annoyed.
“I’m sorry big brother. I only wanted to bond with my step-sister… your mate.” She spoke, a bit confused.
“So weird and puzzling,” she whispered, breaking off from Anna before staring at the injury on her neck.
“Whoa.” She exclaimed, “What happened to your neck?” Her voice was laced with concern.
“It's nothing, Thea,” Anna assured her, covering her neck with her right hand.
“Yes, it is.” I said, “Charlotte happened.”
“Charlotte?” Thea spoke before rolling her eyes, then her face turned stern and serious, “I’m so sorry, Anna, “I didn’t mean for this to happen,” Thea said, avoiding my gaze. There was a tremor in her voice—or was it something else? Guilt? Fear? I couldn’t tell.
Anna shook her head slightly before giving a subtle smile.
“Are you okay?” Thea asked.
“I'm fine.”
I took a sigh as they spoke.
“Come on Anna, we need to go to the hospital.” I took her hand, but Anna shook her head in disagreement.
“No Peter, it's just a scratch. I’ve had worse, I don't need a hospital.” She told me.
“uh-uh, No, as long as you’re with me, I won't let you have a scratch on your body, is that understood?” I spoke to her.
“Yes.” Anna pressed her lips together before letting out a defeated sigh as she stared at me, her face looking pale.
Seems she has found out that the word ‘no’ isn't in my vocabulary.
As I stared at her face, I couldn't stop but admire her beauty. From her soft rose petal-pink lips to her bright blue eyes and her long-raven dark hair.
Fuck…It brings back the moment of how I fell in love immediately after I saw her back at the starlight pack.
“Come on,” I spoke, taking her out of the mall, Thea following us from behind.
As we walked through the mall, I noticed the kingdom's members offering their usual respect. Some furrowed their brows in confusion as they saw me holding Anna's hand.
They expected me to be with that manipulative bitch, Charlotte. But pretending to love someone I despise? That’s not who I am. I’d gladly show them the truth—that Anna is my mate. But the moment I do, my parents will see it as a disgrace, an insult to their plans. And they won’t just be angry as they already are, they’ll retaliate. Anna would become their target, their way to bring me back in line.
She can’t stay in the mansion. It’s too dangerous, too exposed. But where in this kingdom could she truly be safe? I have to find her a place, somewhere beyond their reach, before it’s too late.
As we stepped outside into the cool breeze of the afternoon, the door of my car was opened by the driver and we got in.
“Where to sir?” My driver asked me.
“The clinic,” I replied.
Anna let out a sigh as I mentioned the word ‘clinic’
“What’s wrong with clinics?” I asked, shutting my eyes as I stared at her.
“The smell of drugs, Ugh.” Anna replied, her face etched with disgust, “It always makes me want to puke.”
I and Thea chuckled as we listened to her.
“Alright.” I said, “I’ll call the doctor to visit the mansion.”
“Okay,” Anna replied softly as I placed my hand on her lap, caressing it gently.
“Aww.” Thea looked at us with adorable eyes. “You two look adorable together.”
Anna’s cheeks flushed as she fidgeted with her hands, avoiding my gaze.
“I wish to have such a good mate like you, Anna. You’re lucky.” Thea grinned while Anna threw her a subtle smile.
Thea is seventeen, but the passion to find her mate quickly makes me feel watchful about the guys around her; I don't want her heartbroken.
“Wait for your time, Thea.” I spoke to her firmly, “I don't want any irresponsible guys around you, is that understood?”
“Yes… Dad.” She joked, “You know my birthday is in four months right? You don't have authority over me.”
I looked at her from top to bottom.
“You’re under my authority until you turn eighteen,” I spoke to her.
Anna looked at me before chuckling, I understood what was going on that beautiful head of hers.
I took protective, yes, and I love it.
“Head home,” I ordered the driver while taking out my phone to call the doctor.
As I dialed the doctor’s number, she answered immediately.
‘Good day, your highness.’ She greeted me.
‘Yeah, good day. I need you at the royal mansion.’ I got straight to the point.
‘Ok your highness, but I’m already there. Princess Charlotte is injured.’
‘Charlotte is injured?’ I raised my voice a little, making everyone turn their gaze to me.
It's not like I cared that Charlotte was injured, though; last I saw her, she was without a scratch on her body.
I hope this isn't one of her stupid schemes.
‘What happened to her?’ I asked the doctor.
‘She was attacked in the pack woods.’ the doctor replied, ‘I suggest you be here, your Highness.’
‘Okay.’ I answered before hanging up the call.
*****
After some time of driving, we finally reached the mansion.
I didn't waste time walking inside, I was a bit curious to know what that bitch's scheme was.
As we arrived inside the mansion, I could see Charlotte sitting on the couch and the doctor squatting beside her, adding some liquid substance to the deep cut in her arm.
Charlotte screamed as the doctor pressed the white foam on her arm. Mum was there, trying to comfort her from the pain she felt.
As my Dad's eyes met me and Anna, his brows furrowed down in anger as he walked towards us.
“You stupid bitch!” He yelled, as his hand connected to Anna's face, making my heart jump a little in anger, every muscle in my body tensed, a red-hot wave of fury surging through me.
“How dare you attack the princess!” He yelled at Anna, as she held her cheeks with tears welling up in her eyes.
Don't forget to comment 😁❤️
Peter's POV I furrowed my brows and gritted my teeth as my palms clenched into strong fists, to the point I could feel my claws digging into my skin, letting blood flow out.Suddenly, I pushed my Dad forcefully away from Anna, my blood staining his white top.“What the hell?” I roared, “How dare you lay your hands on her!” I glared at him, threatening to land a punch on his face.My Dad's eyes widened, and everyone in the room was stunned by my sudden action; I knew they saw me as a disrespectful son, but I didn’t fucking care about that.My Dad has no audacity to hit my mate in front of me.He scoffed as he glared at me, not believing the fact his son would fight against him.“How dare you fight against your father!” My Mum bellowed as she slammed her hand loudly on the table before rising from the couch and walking towards us, her palms into fists. “Why would you protect this witch you call mate, hmm? After what she has done to Charlotte!” Mum yelled, glaring at me before her eyes
Peter's POVMy eyes widened in shock as my Dad grabbed Anna swiftly from the guard’s hold.“Peter! Do you realize what you’ve done?” My Dad yelled, his eyes widened, glaring at me and the dead body that flowed blood, staining the tiles of the living room behind me.“Let her go!” I roared at my Dad, gritting my teeth with a clenched fist.As I stared at Anna, I felt my heart break a little as she stared back in fear, more tears streaming down her cheeks.‘At any cost.’ was what I promised to protect her. Even if it means killing my forces.“No!” A voice echoed through the walls of the living room, making everyone turn in the direction in which the voice came from.I saw the head maid run towards the guard’s dead body with tears streaming down her face.“My son…” she spoke, her voice cracking as she placed her palms on his pale face.“My only son…” she sobered. As I heard that, my brows raised in regret.Fuck! Peter's POV “Hmm.” Michella let out a sigh as she removed the stethoscope. “Her heart’s still beating… but barely.” She told me, making my heart skip a beat.“But it's only a neck injury, how's that possible?” I asked, furrowing my brow in confusion as I ran my fingers through Anna's cheek, caressing it.Michelle scoffed a little at what I said before speaking,“She has a fragile neck, and this isn’t just about the surface injury. The neck houses critical arteries, and even minor trauma can cause a cascade of issues, swelling, reduced blood flow to the brain, or worse.” She explained, looking at my face, which was etched with confusion to what she said.“It’s best if we take her to the pack hospital where she can get proper treatment.” She broke the situation down for me.“Alright, let's go,” I said quickly, taking Anna’s body into my arms as I stood up, her chest rising and falling slowly as her face turned a bit pale.As I turned to leave, I saw my mum glaring at me with her breat

I couldn't help the tears that ran down my cheeks; then I began pacing slowly to and fro the passage hall. Anna can't die… she can't, but If she does… I swear to the Moon goddess, my parents will pay dearly for it, I will make it my life’s mission to see them suffer as she is suffering now, I promise.I furrowed my brows in anger and clenched my fist as I deepened myself in the thought of what I’d do if my mate died.“Peter!” I heard a voice call me from a distance.I cleared the tears in my eyes quickly before I turned to meet Thea running towards me with tears in her eyes.I couldn't let anyone see me in tears… not even my sister.Along with my sister, I saw my brother, Jackson, or as I usually call him, Jake, walking behind her.As Thea came close to me, she
Peter's POV I smiled at Anna and noticed her tired eyes. I felt relieved, which was a big change from the fear I had just a few hours earlier.“Anna, thank the goddess,” I spoke softly as I reached for her hand, caressing it.Anna closed her eyes tightly and groaned as she tried to sit up straight.“Hey, hey, hey! Hold on there, Anna,” Thea said soothingly as she moved to the other side of the bed. “Let’s take a breather and not let this get to you.”“It's good to have you back, Anna. We were so worried you wouldn't make it.” Thea continued before Anna gave her a faint smile.“Hey, Anna,” Jackson said, waving his hand at her. “We should probably call the nurse to come check her,” he advised me.Thea nodded and left the room, the soft click of the door echoing in the quiet space.“Are you all right?” I asked Anna, my voice beneath a whisper as I held her hand firmly.Anna tried to talk but she felt a sharp pain and winced, then she closed her eyes, rubbing her injured neck.“I though
Peter's POV “Step away from her!” I growled at the stranger who turned his face sideways before smirking. Then he scoffed, making my blood boil with anger.“Why?” He spoke, his voice firm and carrying a sense of darkness, “So I don't get to do my job?”“Nah, I think I’ll pass.” He spoke quickly, turning and throwing his knife towards my skull. My eyes went wide and my heart raced as I spotted the knife hurtling toward me. In an instant, I dove to the side, the blade piercing the door with a sickening thud, narrowly missing me.“So close!” The stranger pouted, taunting me to hit him.I glanced at the door before gritting my teeth at the strange man in front of me; he covered his face with a black surgical mask and his eye pupils were like every other, brown.Forming my palms into fists, I launched against him; then I threw a punch across his face.He quickly ducked under my arm and struck my right knee. I grunted as pain shot through my leg.“Too slow.” He taunted me again, rising to
Anna's POVI groaned as I slowly opened my eyes, my vision a bit blurry because of the bright ceiling light bulbs.I rubbed my eyes gently, trying to adjust my vision; the smell of drugs hit my nostrils, and the metallic scent of blood joined the party, too. After my vision became clearer, I looked to my left, seeing my mate, Peter. His eyes were closed but his hand was placed on my lap, as usual of him.As I kept staring at him, I winced, feeling a huge wave of pain hit me, traveling through my injured neck.Immediately, Peter's eyes opened and he stared at me.“Anna.” He whispered, yet his voice firm; then he began rubbing my lap.“I’ve missed you.” A smile curled on his lips.I opened my mouth to speak, but I winced in pain as that injury insisted I shut the fuck up before it gave me more discomfort.“The neck huh?” Peter spoke with concern written over his face, “I’m sorry, Anna. The nurse said it was internal bleeding. My father’s claws... they went deeper than I realized.” A sl
Anna's POV “How did that happen?” Peter asked, furrowing his brows in confusion.“We don't know, your Highness.” The guard replied, “We suspect he was either killed during the night or took his own life.” My brows knitted together as I listened. Why would an assassin take his own life for his benefactor? That doesn’t make any sense. It’s far more likely he was killed right under the guards’ noses.Peter’s eyes narrowed as he studied the guard, his jaw tightening with restrained anger. After a moment, he let out a sharp sigh.“You may leave,” Peter ordered. The guard bowed his head and left the room. His jaws clenched in disappointment, I’m sure he knew the assassin was sent by either Charlotte or maybe… by his parents. But I don't believe his parents could do that against me; they have power over hundreds of forces, so why would they need an assassin? My best guess in this case is Charlotte. Since her kingdom is far from here, she doesn't have authority over anyone here, maybe exc
