Peter's POV
“Hmm.” Michella let out a sigh as she removed the stethoscope.
“Her heart’s still beating… but barely.” She told me, making my heart skip a beat.
“But it's only a neck injury, how's that possible?” I asked, furrowing my brow in confusion as I ran my fingers through Anna's cheek, caressing it.
Michelle scoffed a little at what I said before speaking,
“She has a fragile neck, and this isn’t just about the surface injury. The neck houses critical arteries, and even minor trauma can cause a cascade of issues, swelling, reduced blood flow to the brain, or worse.” She explained, looking at my face, which was etched with confusion to what she said.
“It’s best if we take her to the pack hospital where she can get proper treatment.” She broke the situation down for me.
“Alright, let's go,” I said quickly, taking Anna’s body into my arms as I stood up, her chest rising and falling slowly as her face turned a bit pale.
As I turned to leave, I saw my mum glaring at me with her breath coming out hot, while that bitch, Charlotte, kept smiling as she watched her scheme play out perfectly as she expected.
This isn't over.
“Guards!” My Mum yelled, calling some guards' attention to the living room.
“Arrest the doctor.” She ordered them, pointing a finger towards Michelle.
“Mum, what are you doing?!” I roared at her, “You can't arrest her!”
“Yes, I can.” She replied, “No one refuses my order as queen mother. Guards take her.”
“Don't you dare!” I bellowed at the guards through gritted teeth.
“Do it.” My Dad pressured them.
At this point, I knew I couldn't waste time fighting for Michelle while my mate was dying slowly; I needed to act fast.
I quickened my pace out of the living room as the guards handcuffed Michella. There should be other medical staff available to treat Anna’s injury in the hospital.
“She will die, Peter, and there's nothing you can do about it, you will be mated to Charlotte, you hear me? Your threats mean nothing, you will be king!” My Dad's voice echoed through the wall as I ran out of the living room, stepping into the dead soldier’s pool of blood.
‘Come man… hurry.’ I heard Mike's voice in my head, telling me what I didn't know was already obvious.
“Open the gates!” I yelled at the guard at the gate post as I rushed towards my car in the dark of night.
“Davis!” I shouted my driver's name, placing Anna in the backseat of the car along with me.
“Where to, your high-”
“The hospital, quickly.”
I interrupted Davis as he entered the car; the sound of the car engine roaring to life filled the area, and then we began to leave the mansion to the hospital.
“Stay with me, Anna,” I spoke to her with my rapid-beating heart, staring at her blurry eyes as they began to shut.
“I will…” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper, sending chills down my spine.
“Hurry!” I yelled at Davis, making him step on the accelerator, allowing the car to go faster.
‘We can't let her die, Peter.’ Mike growled with a mournful whine.
‘She won't…’ I replied to him, trying to have faith she would live through this.
Just like me, Mike has been desperate to find Anna too and with her condition like this now, I’m pretty sure he is willing to kill my father for this, not minding the consequences.
Fucking hell!
All because my parents want me to unite the two kingdoms, they are willing to take away my happiness from me and have me mate that witch.
Shit! I don't know what I’ll do if Anna dies; if I leave the kingdom, I will be caught and brought back, and if I kill my parents to avenge her death, I will be seen as a monster and cursed by all.
Truth be told, I would become a very confused Lycan. Now I think it's high time I understood the mansion was too dangerous for Anna to stay.
If she gets through this, I’ll have to take her as far away from the mansion as possible, and then find a place where she can be hidden from my parents.
But where… Where can I keep her hidden if she lives? I thought to myself before we arrived at the hospital.
As Davis drove to the lot and settled the car in a space, I rushed down, taking Anna into my arms again.
“Medic!” I yelled as I got closer to the entrance of the hospital.
“Medic!”
Immediately, two women dressed in white coats rushed to meet me, dragging along a stretcher with them.
“Attend to her, quickly!” I urged the medical team with urgency in my voice, my heart pounding in my chest as I gently placed Anna onto the stretcher.
Her pale face and shallow breathing filled me with dread. As they began to wheel her away toward the hospital and through the hall, I kept a steady hand on the stretcher, unwilling to let go, feeling every bump and jolt as we navigated the chaotic scene around us.
“Call Doctor Michelle.” One of the nurses ordered the other as we moved.
“She's not in her office, ma’am.” The other told her.
I kept shut, I didn't want them to be distracted about Michelle’s situation so I decided not to inform them of her arrest.
******
After some time walking, we got into a ward room filled with patients’ equipment like an IV stander, heart rate monitor, and some other things.
I quickly took Anna off the stretcher and placed her on the white mattress, staring at her pale face that scared me out of my mind.
“Your Highness… Please, you need to leave.” One of the nurses instructed me as the rest got to work.
“We need our full concentration on our patient.”
“No… I’m not leaving her!” I roared at her, my voice echoing through the walls of the room, making her and the rest of her colleagues take a step back in fear of my aura.
“Please, Your Highness…” she pleaded, rubbing her two hands together, “We insist you do.”
I felt hesitant to leave but seeing that they couldn't concentrate well because of me, I decided to leave.
As I began to walk out of the room, I couldn't help but keep my gaze set on Anna as they started to treat her.
Before I opened the door to leave, I began to hear the sounds of the heart rate monitor beeping.
I stepped out of the room immediately, my eyes filled with tears.
“If only I could have kept you safe, Anna,” I whispered to myself, feeling the regret of not being able to protect her from my parents.
How could my parents demand this of me? How could they take everything I wanted and twist it into something I had to fight for? If Anna dies… what would be left for me? A crown, a throne, a future without the only person who mattered.
Peter's POV As I stood outside, facing the wardroom door, my face turned pale, and I could feel my soul crushed into a state of pain and anger.I took a step back and looked at my right arm which was stained by Anna’s blood. I couldn't help the tears that ran down my cheeks; then I began pacing slowly to and fro the passage hall. Anna can't die… she can't, but If she does… I swear to the Moon goddess, my parents will pay dearly for it, I will make it my life’s mission to see them suffer as she is suffering now, I promise.I furrowed my brows in anger and clenched my fist as I deepened myself in the thought of what I’d do if my mate died.“Peter!” I heard a voice call me from a distance.I cleared the tears in my eyes quickly before I turned to meet Thea running towards me with tears in her eyes.I couldn't let anyone see me in tears… not even my sister.Along with my sister, I saw my brother, Jackson, or as I usually call him, Jake, walking behind her.As Thea came close to me, she
Peter's POV I smiled at Anna and noticed her tired eyes. I felt relieved, which was a big change from the fear I had just a few hours earlier.“Anna, thank the goddess,” I spoke softly as I reached for her hand, caressing it.Anna closed her eyes tightly and groaned as she tried to sit up straight.“Hey, hey, hey! Hold on there, Anna,” Thea said soothingly as she moved to the other side of the bed. “Let’s take a breather and not let this get to you.”“It's good to have you back, Anna. We were so worried you wouldn't make it.” Thea continued before Anna gave her a faint smile.“Hey, Anna,” Jackson said, waving his hand at her. “We should probably call the nurse to come check her,” he advised me.Thea nodded and left the room, the soft click of the door echoing in the quiet space.“Are you all right?” I asked Anna, my voice beneath a whisper as I held her hand firmly.Anna tried to talk but she felt a sharp pain and winced, then she closed her eyes, rubbing her injured neck.“I though
Peter's POV “Step away from her!” I growled at the stranger who turned his face sideways before smirking. Then he scoffed, making my blood boil with anger.“Why?” He spoke, his voice firm and carrying a sense of darkness, “So I don't get to do my job?”“Nah, I think I’ll pass.” He spoke quickly, turning and throwing his knife towards my skull. My eyes went wide and my heart raced as I spotted the knife hurtling toward me. In an instant, I dove to the side, the blade piercing the door with a sickening thud, narrowly missing me.“So close!” The stranger pouted, taunting me to hit him.I glanced at the door before gritting my teeth at the strange man in front of me; he covered his face with a black surgical mask and his eye pupils were like every other, brown.Forming my palms into fists, I launched against him; then I threw a punch across his face.He quickly ducked under my arm and struck my right knee. I grunted as pain shot through my leg.“Too slow.” He taunted me again, rising to
Anna's POVI groaned as I slowly opened my eyes, my vision a bit blurry because of the bright ceiling light bulbs.I rubbed my eyes gently, trying to adjust my vision; the smell of drugs hit my nostrils, and the metallic scent of blood joined the party, too. After my vision became clearer, I looked to my left, seeing my mate, Peter. His eyes were closed but his hand was placed on my lap, as usual of him.As I kept staring at him, I winced, feeling a huge wave of pain hit me, traveling through my injured neck.Immediately, Peter's eyes opened and he stared at me.“Anna.” He whispered, yet his voice firm; then he began rubbing my lap.“I’ve missed you.” A smile curled on his lips.I opened my mouth to speak, but I winced in pain as that injury insisted I shut the fuck up before it gave me more discomfort.“The neck huh?” Peter spoke with concern written over his face, “I’m sorry, Anna. The nurse said it was internal bleeding. My father’s claws... they went deeper than I realized.” A sl
Anna's POV “How did that happen?” Peter asked, furrowing his brows in confusion.“We don't know, your Highness.” The guard replied, “We suspect he was either killed during the night or took his own life.” My brows knitted together as I listened. Why would an assassin take his own life for his benefactor? That doesn’t make any sense. It’s far more likely he was killed right under the guards’ noses.Peter’s eyes narrowed as he studied the guard, his jaw tightening with restrained anger. After a moment, he let out a sharp sigh.“You may leave,” Peter ordered. The guard bowed his head and left the room. His jaws clenched in disappointment, I’m sure he knew the assassin was sent by either Charlotte or maybe… by his parents. But I don't believe his parents could do that against me; they have power over hundreds of forces, so why would they need an assassin? My best guess in this case is Charlotte. Since her kingdom is far from here, she doesn't have authority over anyone here, maybe exc
(Anna POV)“My wolf needs you.”As Daniel pinned me to the wall of the bathroom, I felt my heart skip as his hot gaze, filled with nothing but lust, was on me. He stroked my lips with a sudden motion, pressing them with fierce kisses that moved down to my neck. “Ah… Alpha…” I let out a soft moan as I tried to speak, “Please, I don't want any trouble from your Luna.” I whispered, begging him. Daniel paused, staring at me with a timid smirk. “Oh please, just because I rejected you doesn't mean your body isn't mine.” He spoke before pressing my lips harder and rubbing my skin roughly with his palm. I felt a wave of disgust wash over me as he said that, like what the fuck!A few minutes ago, he was professing to the whole pack his love for that witch, Priscilla, who had made my life hell when she found out I was his mate. Now, in secret, he is still claiming his possession over my body after rejecting me a year ago. What an asshole! Though this isn't the first time he has done this
Anna's POV “Mate,” I whispered with wide eyes. What! How's this possible for someone like me?Of course, I heard about people getting second mates, but for someone like me to be this lucky… I can't believe it.Is this a drill? Why the hell would the goddess glue me up with someone extremely powerful? Was she trying to make me go through the pain of losing a mate all over again? As I stared at the Lycan king's face, I could see his eyes widened with surprise, gazing fiercely at me. Then a small smile curled on his lips. What's with the smile? Who would be happy to be mates with someone with my past, especially you?“Release her.” I heard him order the guards gripping me, his voice firm, carrying a sense of great authority. The guards let go of me immediately as he ordered them to.Suddenly, he began to walk towards me and my heart began to beat rapidly as my head dotted with sweat.I took a step back away from him, afraid. As I looked up at him again, his face lined with worry.Just s
Anna's POV My heart plummeted as I watched the lady kiss my newfound mate. What in the actual fuck is going on here!! Who’s this?!I thought as I stared at the lady's overall, her braided white hair, her fair smooth skin, and her beautiful, elegant purple gown.Basically, to me, she looked way better than me; her beauty was unmatched, and she seemed like a princess, or maybe she was.I should never have brought my hopes up for a better life; now look at me, staring like a bloody fool.As they broke from the kiss, the lady turned in my direction.“Who's this honey?” She asked Peter, staring at me.“What the hell was that?” Peter spoke, his eyes widened with disgust at what she had just done. It seemed he wasn't expecting this treatment from her, and then his brows narrowed down, indicating his anger. He better not be acting innocent. He grabbed me by the wrist again, walking past her and hitting her slightly on the shoulder without answering her question.I was shocked by his sudden

Peter's POVMy eyes widened in shock as my Dad grabbed Anna swiftly from the guard’s hold.“Peter! Do you realize what you’ve done?” My Dad yelled, his eyes widened, glaring at me and the dead body that flowed blood, staining the tiles of the living room behind me.“Let her go!” I roared at my Dad, gritting my teeth with a clenched fist.As I stared at Anna, I felt my heart break a little as she stared back in fear, more tears streaming down her cheeks.‘At any cost.’ was what I promised to protect her. Even if it means killing my forces.“No!” A voice echoed through the walls of the living room, making everyone turn in the direction in which the voice came from.I saw the head maid run towards the guard’s dead body with tears streaming down her face.“My son…” she spoke, her voice cracking as she placed her palms on his pale face.“My only son…” she sobered. As I heard that, my brows raised in regret.Fuck! I knew the head maid had a son but never knew he was part of the forces, I was
Peter's POV I furrowed my brows and gritted my teeth as my palms clenched into strong fists, to the point I could feel my claws digging into my skin, letting blood flow out.Suddenly, I pushed my Dad forcefully away from Anna, my blood staining his white top.“What the hell?” I roared, “How dare you lay your hands on her!” I glared at him, threatening to land a punch on his face.My Dad's eyes widened, and everyone in the room was stunned by my sudden action; I knew they saw me as a disrespectful son, but I didn’t fucking care about that.My Dad has no audacity to hit my mate in front of me.He scoffed as he glared at me, not believing the fact his son would fight against him.“How dare you fight against your father!” My Mum bellowed as she slammed her hand loudly on the table before rising from the couch and walking towards us, her palms into fists. “Why would you protect this witch you call mate, hmm? Peter's POV As we left the restroom, I couldn't help but feel annoyed at the fact Anna left the mansion.Doesn't she know about the troubles we are facing? I can't have her wandering about my knowledge.“Why did you leave the mansion?” I turned to her, my tone firm as we left the convenience section.“I didn't leave the mansion on-” “Hey! There you are… I've been looking everywhere for you.”As Anna tried to explain herself, Thea interrupted, walking towards us quickly and hugging Anna. Then I realized it was Thea who was responsible for Anna leaving the mansion.“Where did you stay so long, hmm?” She asked, with a concerned look, “I started to think you ran away because of the price tag.” She pouts her lips.“I… I.” Anna stammered before I spoke.“Why did you take Anna out of the mansion without my approval?” I asked her, my voice firm but sounding annoyed.“I’m sorry big brother. I only wanted to bond with my step-sister… your mate.” She spoke, a bit confused. “So weird and puzzli
