Damien’s POV
“Aria, what are you doing all the way up here, and with him of all people?”
“Jealous much?” she bites back
Aria folds her arms across her chest, propping one leg up on her car as she leans against it.
Firstly she thought she had killed him and now she was playing it cool.
“You didn’t answer me Aria”
“Why have you marked someone else?”
He narrows his eyes at me
“Because I fell for her”
“You seriously love her. Like full on love her?”
Irina’s POV The women hid us in their cars. As they explained their plan, I asked them if the shopping trip was a way for them to escape, then why hadn’t they all done it? But one of the women told me it wasn’t as simple for them because they were mated. Not marked, but their husbands had forced themselves on them. In the same way Ivan had tried with me, but thankfully he didn’t get a chance to go through with it. When they sneak Rosy in the car, my dagger falls out from her jumper. She gives me a weak smile because she was still struggling to speak and I scoop the dagger up before anyone sees. I felt horrificly bad for Rosy. Not only had the screaming ruptured her ear drums but it had affected a lot of other things including her ability to speak properly. The Docto
Damien’s POV I was in shock! She just wasn’t the girl I fell for, she had changed and I reluctantly agree with Ivan that Irina should stay with him at his pack. Only because he was certain he could help her control her wolf. It was not what I wanted at all, but I feared that I could not protect her in Lonecrown and I had no idea what she may do to the pack if she lost control. Ivan had reassured me that it was not him controlling her when she killed Aria, and although at first I didn’t believe him, I started to when she was in the car. Her temper was growing shorter and shorter along with her becoming more emotional and at one point she even punched the back of the seat when Ivan was driving because of his breathing and then cried because she saw a baby goat. She fin
Irina’s POV Maybe I had underestimated what Alpha Ketill would do and it just didn’t seem likely that he would come to Ivan’s pack, it was why I never wanted to discuss it, plus it would just add to the nightmares that I was already experiencing. Ivan lets go of me and I feel something inside me drop. It was odd, sort of like I had enjoyed and welcomed Ivan’s roughness in that moment. “Come” he pulls me from the wall and leads me outside “There is no point hiding you” “Am I shifting?” I ask, a little worried and strangely, a little excited “No. We will most likely be outnumbered. I have already sent Shaun to Damien and I have called in my neighbouring packs, but it will rely on them getting here quickly.” “When did you do that?” I was surprised, I had been with Ivan a lot in the last couple of days. “It doesn’t matter. Alpha Ketill will be here at any moment” Ivan stands next to me outside and when I look up to his eyes
Irina’s POVMy brain was hurting, Damien was asking me to kill again, but why was he specifically mentioning my dagger. I could feel the coolness of the blade pressed against my leg, ready to protect myself and yet I couldn’t imagine using it to purposely hurt anyone.“Of course we can, it’s ours,” Raine pipes up and I shake my head, I did not need anymore voices in my head right now.“Why do you keep laughing child?” Alpha Ketill calls out to meI hadn’t realised that I was still laughing, my moods really were all over the place. Maybe Ivan was right, maybe this was my heat making me do weird crap.“You are underestimating Ivan. Ivan has been waiting for this moment for years”. Why the hell was I goading him? Even Ivan was questioning my actions and was tugging at my hands.Alpha Ketill begins walking around like he owned the place, his hands raised as he took in the well built
Damien’s POVIt was never my intention too help. Irina had chosen him, the mark he had given her was now too strong and I was no longer a part of it.Each day that passed, I could feel our bond breaking and the only thing that I could put it down to was that Irina was getting strong feelings for Ivan. Yet the day Shaun arrived, and I told him no, I felt immediate guilt and betrayal. I was breaking the very promise that I had made to Irina and with each passing moment, I felt like I was being put through the wringer. Discovering the information about her being the last Blood Alpha made everything ten times worse.I still had no idea what it meant and I searched the home for hours looking for something, anything that would give me a clue.Surprisingly, I find a letter under Irina’s mattress. A place I would not have normally looked. I didn’t recognise the writing, only that the sealed envelope had Irina’s name carefully inked on the
Irina’s POV I don’t know how I managed it, but I somehow convinced Gunnar that Alpha Ketill was doing something to the Blood Pack, and that he was keeping them all inline. Oddly Gunnar didn’t even challenge me. “He does have magic or power or something, doesn’t he? The day I saw you and him, I knew something wasn’t right and then he pressed his hand on my chest” He tries to keep his words low, “I felt something strange.” His grip loosens on me enough that I am able to slip my hand out, but the other wolves were listening in. It was just as Alpha Ketill said, there was no point in whispering. They heard everything! I just nod my head at him, suddenly becoming very aware that we were now being watched. “Can you stop him?” The other wolves move closer to us, they clearly didn’t like what we were saying, and I shake my head at Gunnar. The small movement of my head stops everyone from moving and they go back to watching the war, waiting to be told
Irina’s POV I watch the light slowly dim in his eyes, just as I had watched Damien’s life drain from him. Ketill was still frozen to the spot, he couldn’t do anything about the dagger sticking out of his chest. This time his death was final, there was no coming back from it, I would make sure of it. The blood trickles out around the dagger and I remembered how Damien had told me not to remove the dagger sticking out of my mom because it would make things worse, the blade had been keeping everything from escaping, stopping her from dying on the spot. I couldn’t have that with Ketill. I could not have him survive my stabbings twice and I rip the blade from him sending a fountain of deep red spraying through the air. “Irina” he gasps as the blood flows fast, but we all know that once the heart has been touched, there was no coming back from it. His body falls back with a heavy thud as he hits the ground. I had done it; I had really killed the Alpha of Bl
Damien’s POVI understood now why my father never wanted me involved with Irina. He constantly wanted me to stay away and yet keep her in the pack. He must have known that she wasn’t just any wolf and I didn't mean the news that she was a Blood Alpha, he must have known that she could compel people to act in certain ways. I saw it for myself when all those wolves were unable to move.I was certain that I loved her, at least I thought I did, When I first met her, she slipped into my head when I was trying to concentrate on other things. Yet I couldn't get her out of my head or ignore the way her honey coloured eyes always focussed on me. Even the way she looked over her shoulder and the way her body trembled under my touch was always on my mind. Could it all be a lie? Could she have made me feel all those things?Maybe Ivan really was the better man for her at least he could help her control her wolf.I make my way back to my pack, only shiftin
